Opening the tailgate The tailgate is locked or unlockedwhen all doors are locked or
unlocked with the key, transmitter
(or smart key) or central door lock
switch.
If unlocked, the tailgate can be opened by pressing the handle
switch and then pulling the handle
up.
Only the tailgate is unlocked if the tailgate unlock button on the smart
key is pressed (if equipped). Once
the tailgate is opened and then
closed, the tailgate is locked auto-
matically.
✽ ✽ NOTICEIn cold and wet climates, door lock
and door mechanisms may not work
properly due to freezing conditions.
Closing the tailgateTo close the tailgate, lower and push
down the tailgate firmly. Make sure
that the tailgate is securely latched.

The tailgate swings upward.
Make sure no objects or people
are near the rear of the vehicle
when opening the tailgate.
CAUTION
Make certain that you close the
tailgate before driving yourvehicle. Possible damage mayoccur to the tailgate lift cylin-ders and attached hardware ifthe tailgate is not closed prior todriving.

Opening the tailgateThe power tailgate will open auto-
matically by doing one of the follow-
ing:
Press the tailgate unlock button onthe transmitter or smart key.
Press the power tailgate open but- ton.
WARNING
Make sure there are no peopleor objects around the tailgate
before operating the power
tailgate. Wait until the tailgate
is opened fully and stopped
before loading or unloading
cargo or passengers from the
vehicle.
During power operation, seri- ous personal injury or cargo
damage may occur. Make sure
the tailgate is CLOSED and
latched before driving.
CAUTION
Do not close or open the powertailgate manually during auto-matic operation. This may causedamage to the power tailgate orto the vehicle.
If it is necessary to close oropen the power tailgate manual-ly when the battery is dis-charged or disconnected, makesure the tailgate is not in opera-tion. Switch the power tailgateto the off position. Do not applyexcessive force.

4Power windowsThe ignition switch must be in the ON
position for power windows to operate.
Each door has a power window
switch that controls the door's win-
dow. The driver has a power window
lock button which can block the oper-
ation of passenger windows. The
power windows can be operated for
approximately 30 seconds after the
ignition key is removed or turned to
the ACC or LOCK position. However,
if the front doors are opened, the
power windows cannot be operated
even within the 30 second period.
✽ ✽
NOTICEWhile driving with the rear windows
down or with the sunroof (if
equipped) in an open (or partially
open) position, your vehicle may
demonstrate a wind buffeting or
pulsation noise. This noise is a nor-
mal occurrence and can be reduced
or eliminated by taking the follow-
ing actions. If the noise occurs with
one or both of the rear windows
down, partially lower both front
windows approximately one inch. If
you experience the noise with the
sunroof open, slightly reduce the
size of the sunroof opening.
Window opening and closingThe driver’s door has a master power
window switch that controls all the
windows in the vehicle.
To open or close a window, press
down or pull up the front portion of
the corresponding switch to the first
detent position (5).

CAUTION
To prevent possible damageto the power window system,do not open or close two win-dows or more at the sametime. This will also ensure thelongevity of the fuse.
Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's doorand the individual door win-dow switch in the oppositedirections at the same time. Ifthis is done, the window willstop and cannot be opened orclosed.

Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep
the driver’s door power win-
dow lock button in the LOCK
position (pressed). Serious
injury can result from uninten-
tional window operation by
the child.
Do not extend heads or any limbs outside the window
while the vehicle is in motion.

Sunroof open warning
(if equipped)If the driver removes the ignition key
(smart key: turns off the engine) and
opens the driver-side door when the
sunroof is not fully closed, the warn-
ing chime will sound for a few sec-
onds and a message "Sunroof Open"
will appear on the LCD display.
Close the sunroof securely when
leaving your vehicle.
Sliding the sunroof When the sunshade is closedIf you pull the sunroof control lever
backward, the sunshade and sunroof
glass will slide all the way open. To
stop the sunroof movement at any
point, pull or push the sunroof control
lever momentarily.
When the sunshade is openedIf you pull the sunroof control lever
backward, the sunroof glass will slide
all the way open. To stop the sunroof
movement at any point, pull or push
the sunroof control lever momentarily.

To fold the outside rearview mirror,
grasp the housing of the mirror and
then fold it toward the rear of the
vehicle. Electric type
To fold the outside rearview mirror,
press the button.
To unfold it, press the button again or
press the unlock button.The outside rearview mirror can be
folded when you press the door lock
button on the smart key within 4 sec-
onds after locking the doors by
pressing the button.
The outside rearview mirror can be
unfolded when you press the door
unlock button on the smart key with-
in 4 seconds after unlocking the

Off:
The auto door lock operation will
be deactivated.
Speed: All doors will be automatically
locked when the vehicle speed
exceeds 15km/h (9.3mph).
Shift Lever: All doors will be automatically
locked if the automatic transaxle
shift lever is shifted from the P
(Park) position to the R (Reverse),
N (Neutral), or D (Drive) position. Auto Door Unlock (if equipped)
Off:
The auto door unlock operation will
be canceled.
Key Out or Power Off: All doors will be automatically
unlocked when the ignition key is
removed from ignition switch or
Engine Start/Stop Button is set to
the OFF position.
Shift Lever: All doors will be automatically
unlocked if the automatic transaxle
shift lever is shifted to the P (Park)
position.
