2. Fasten the lap/shoulder belt latch intothe buckle. Listen for the distinct “click” sound.
Position the release button so that it is
easy to access in case of an emergency.
3. Buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to take up any slack. After installa-
tion of the child restraint system, try to
move it in all directions to be sure the
child restraint system is securelyinstalled.
If you need to tighten the belt, pull more
webbing toward the retractor. When you
unbuckle the seat belt and allow it to
retract, the retractor will automatically
revert back to its normal seated passen-
ger emergency locking usage condition.Installing a child restraint system by lap belt (on the centre rear seat) (if equipped) - Except Europe
To install a child restraint system on the
centre rear seats, do the following:
1. Place the child restraint system on the centre rear seat.
2. Extend the latch plate tongue of the lap belt.
3. Route the lap belt through the restraint according to the seat manufacturer’s
instructions.
4. Buckle the seat belt and adjust the lap belt for a snug hold on the child
restraint by pulling on the loose end of
the belt. After installation of the child
restraint system, try to move it in all
directions to be sure the child restraintsystem is securely installed.

WARNING
A child can be seriously injured or
killed in a collision if the child
restraint is not properly anchored
to the car and the child is not prop-
erly restrained in the child restraint.
Always follow the child seat manu-
facturer’s instructions for installa-
tion and use.

Noise and smoke
When the air bags inflate, they make a
loud noise and they leave smoke and
powder in the air inside of the vehicle.
This is normal and is a result of the igni-
tion of the air bag inflator. After the air
bag inflates, you may feel substantial dis-
comfort in breathing due to the contact of
your chest with both the seat belt and the
air bag, as well as from breathing the
smoke and powder.Open your doors
and/or windows as soon as possible
after impact in order to reduce dis-
comfort and prevent prolonged expo-
sure to the smoke and powder.
Though the smoke and powder are non-
toxic, they may cause irritation to the skin
(eyes, nose and throat, etc). If this is the
case, wash and rinse with cold waterimmediately and consult a doctor if the
symptom persists.
Do not install a child restraint on the
front passenger’s seat.
Never place a rear-facing child restraint
in the front passenger’s seat. If the air
bag deploys, it would impact the rear-fac-
ing child restraint, causing serious or
fatal injury. In addition, do not place a front-facing
child restraints in the front passenger’s
seat. If the front passenger air bag
inflates, it could cause serious or fatal
injuries to the child.
If your vehicle is equipped with the pas-
senger’s front air bag ON/OFF switch,
you can activate or deactivate the front
passenger’s air bag when necessary.
WARNING
When the air bags deploy, the air
bag related parts in the steeringwheel and/or instrument panel
and/or in both sides of the roof rails
above the front and rear doors are
very hot. To prevent injury, do not
touch the air bag storage area’s
internal components immediately
after an air bag has inflated.
WARNING
Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rearward facing child restraint on
a seat protected by an air bag in
front of it!
Never put a child restraint in the front passenger’s seat. If the front
passenger air bag inflates, it cancause serious or fatal injuries.
When children are seated in the rear outboard seats of a vehicle
equipped with side and/or curtain
air bags, be sure to install the
child restraint system as far away
from the door side as possible,
and securely lock the childrestraint system in position.
Inflation of side and/or curtain air
bags could cause serious injury

The curtain air bags are designed to
deploy only during certain side impact
collisions, depending on the crash sever-
ity, angle, speed and impact. The curtain
air bags are not designed to deploy in all
side impact situations, collisions from the
front or rear of the vehicle or in most
rollover situations.(Continued)
Do not allow the passengers tolean their heads or bodies onto
doors, put their arms on the
doors, stretch their arms out of
the window, or place objects
between the doors and passen-
gers when they are seated onseats equipped with side and/or
curtain air bags.
Never try to open or repair any components of the side curtain
air bag system. This should only
be done by an authorised Kia
dealer.
Failure to follow the above instruc-
tions can result in injury or death to
the vehicle occupants in an acci-dent.
WARNING
In order for side and curtain air bags to provide their best protec-
tion, front seat occupants and
outboard rear occupants shouldsit in an upright position with the
seat belts properly fastened.
Importantly, children should sit in
a proper child restraint system inthe rear seat.
When children are seated in the rear outboard seats, they must be
seated in the proper child
restraint system. Make sure to
position the child restraint sys-
tem as far away from the door
side as possible, and secure the
child restraint system in a lockedposition.

With central door lock switch
(if equipped)
Operate by depressing the central door
lock switch.
When pushing down on the front por- tion (1) of the switch, all vehicle doors
will lock.
When pushing down on the rear por- tion (2) of the switch, all vehicle doors
will unlock.
If the key is in the ignition switch and front door is open, the doors will not
lock even though the front portion (1)
of central door lock switch is pressed.
If the smart key is in the vehicle and any door is open, the doors will not
lock even though the front portion(1) of
central door lock switch is pressed.
WARNING - Unlocked
vehicles
Leaving your vehicle unlocked can
invite theft or possible harm to you
or others from someone hiding in
your vehicle whilst you are gone.
Always remove the ignition key,
engage the parking brake, close all
windows and lock all doors when
leaving your vehicle unattended.
WARNING - Unattended
children
An enclosed vehicle can become
extremely hot, causing death or
severe injury to unattended chil-dren or animals who cannot escape
the vehicle. Furthermore, children
might operate features of the vehi-
cle that could injure them, or they
could encounter other harm, possi-
bly from someone gaining entry to
the vehicle. Never leave children or
animals unattended in your vehicle.
WARNING - Doors
The doors should always be fully closed and locked whilst the
vehicle is in motion to prevent
accidental opening of the door.
Locked doors will also discour-
age potential intruders when the
vehicle stops or slows.
Be careful when opening doors and watch for vehicles, motorcy-
cles, bicycles or pedestrians
approaching the vehicle in the
path of the door. Opening a door
when something is approaching
can cause damage or injury.

Impact sensing door unlock sys- tem (if equipped)
All doors will automatically unlock after
an impact causes the air bags to deploy.
Speed sensing door lock system (if equipped)
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h.And all doors will be automatically
unlocked when you turn the engine off
and when you remove the ignition key. (ifequipped)Child-protector rear door lock
The child safety lock is provided to help
prevent children from accidentally open-
ing the rear doors from inside the vehicle.
The rear door safety locks should be
used whenever children are in the vehi-
cle.
1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert a key (or screwdriver) into the
hole (1) and turn it to the lock ( )
position. When the child safety lock is
in the lock position, the rear door will
not open even though the inner doorhandle is pulled. 3. Close the rear door.
To open the rear door, pull the outside
door handle.
Even though the doors may be unlocked,
the rear door will not open by pulling theinner door handle until the rear door child
safety lock is unlocked.
WARNING
- Rear door
locks
If children accidentally open the
rear doors whilst the vehicle is in
motion, they could fall out and be
severely injured or killed. To pre-
vent children from opening the rear
doors from the inside, the rear door
safety locks should be used when-
ever children are in the vehicle.

Power window lock button (if equipped)
For Europe
The driver can disable the power window
switches on the rear passengers' doors
by pressing the power window lock
switch to the lock position (pressed).
When the power window lock switch is pressed:
The driver's master control can oper- ate all the power windows.
The front passenger's control can operate the front passenger's power
window.
The rear passenger's control cannot operate the rear passenger's power
window. Except Europe
The driver can disable the power window
switches on the front and rear passen-
gers' doors by pressing the power window
lock switch to lock position (pressed).
When the power window lock switch is
pressed, the driver's master control can-
not operate the front and rear passen-
gers' power windows.
CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to
the power window system, do notopen or close two windows ormore at the same time. This willalso ensure the longevity of the
fuse.
Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's door andthe individual door window switch in opposite directions at
the same time. If this is done, thewindow will stop and cannot beopened or closed.
WARNING - Windows
NEVER leave the ignition key in the vehicle.
NEVER leave any child unattend- ed in the vehicle. Even very
young children may inadvertently
cause the vehicle to move, entan-
gle themselves in the windows,or otherwise injure themselves or
others.
Always double check to make sure all arms, hands, head and
other obstructions are safely out
of the way before closing a win-
dow.
Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep the dri-
ver’s door power window lock
button in the LOCK position
(pressed). Serious injury can
result from unintentional window
operation by the child.
Do not extend a face or arms out- side through the window openingwhilst driving.

5. CD Indicator icon
When car ignition switch is ACC or ON and if the CD is loaded, this indicator
icon is on. If the CD is ejected the icon is
off.
6. Button (CD Eject)
Push button for less than 0.8 sec-
onds to eject the CD during CD playback.
This button is enabled when ignition switch
is off.
7. CD Slot
Insert a CD label side up and gently push
in whilst ignition switch is on ACC or ON.
The audio automatically switches to CD
mode and begins to play the CD.
If the audio was turned off, audio power
will automatically turned on as the CD is
inserted.
This audio only recognizes 12cm-size, CD-
DA (Audio CD) or ISO data-CD (MP3 CD).
If UDF data-CD or non-CD (e.g. DVD) isinserted, "Reading Error" message will
be displayed and the disc will be ejected. 8. Button
Play each song in the CD for 10 seconds. To
cancel SCAN Play, press this button again.
