Table Tilt Load
In addition to the two positions described above, the load
floor can also be placed in a tilted position (slanted
toward the rear seatbacks as to ease the access to the
underlying zone of the luggage compartment (e.g. to pick
up the spare tire or the Tire Service Kit).
Place the load floor in a way that it rests at the supports
1 and 2 on the sides of the cargo area.
The load floor provides securing of any cargo inside this
position, so that the cargo will slide in the case of sudden
braking.

indexes are adjustable on 8 levels. Adjusted accord-
ingly even the light intensity of the display of the

Odometer
The odometer display shows the total distance the ve-
hicle has been driven.
U.S. Federal regulations require that upon transfer of
vehicle ownership, the seller certify to the purchaser the
correct mileage that the vehicle has been driven. If your
odometer needs to be repaired or serviced, the repair
technician should leave the odometer reading the same
as it was before the repair or service. If s/he cannot do so,
then the odometer must be set at zero, and a sticker must
be placed in the door jamb stating what the mileage was
before the repair or service.
It is a good idea for you to make a record of the odometer
reading before the repair/service, so that you can be sure
that it is properly reset, or that the door jamb sticker is
accurate if the odometer must be reset at zero.
Tachometer
Reports the number of Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) of
the engine.
Fuel Gauge
The digital indicator on the display indicates the amount
of fuel in the fuel tank.
When the fuel tank level drops to 1.3-1.85 gallons (5-7
liters) remaining, a light will illuminate, a message will
display, and a chime will sound.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
The temperature gauge shows engine coolant tempera-
ture. Any reading within the normal range indicates that
the engine cooling system is operating satisfactorily.
The gauge pointer will likely indicate a higher tempera-
ture when driving in hot weather, up mountain grades,
or when towing a trailer. It should not be allowed to
exceed the upper limits of the normal operating range.
In the normal use of the car, the digital scale may move in
different positions.
Instrument Cluster With EVIC/DID
The indicator light will illuminate, a message will dis-
play, and a chime will sound to indicate an excessive rise
in the temperature of the engine coolant.
In the case of excessive rises in the temperature of the
engine coolant, the engine may shut down. See an
authorized dealer.
CAUTION!
Driving with a hot engine cooling system could
damage your vehicle. If the temperature gauge reads
“H” pull over and stop the vehicle. Idle the vehicle
with the air conditioner turned off until the pointer
drops back into the normal range. If the pointer
remains on the “H” and you hear continuous chimes,
turn the engine off immediately and call an autho-
rized dealer for service.

WARNING!
A hot engine cooling system is dangerous. You or
others could be badly burned by steam or boiling
coolant. You may want to call an authorized dealer
for service if your vehicle overheats. If you decide to
look under the hood yourself, see “Maintaining And
Caring For Your Vehicle.” Follow the warnings under
the “Cooling System Pressure Cap” paragraph.
WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES
The EVIC/DID display consists of three sections:
1. The reconfigurable top line where compass, direction,
and outside temperature are displayed.
•Right side default to Ignition Status for those with
push button ignition.
2. The main display area where the menus and pop up
messages are displayed.
3. The reconfigurable telltales section.
The main display area will normally display the main
menu or the screens of a selected feature of the main
menu. The main display area also displays#pop up#
messages that consist of approximately 60 possible warn-
ing or information messages. These pop up messages fall
into several categories:
•Five Second Stored Messages
When the appropriate conditions occur, this type of
message takes control of the main display area for five
seconds and then returns to the previous screen. Most of
the messages of this type are then stored (as long as the
condition that activated it remains active) and can be
reviewed from the#Messages#main menu item. As long
as there is a stored message, an#i#will be displayed in the
EVIC’s compass/outside temp line. Examples of this
message type are#Right Front Turn Signal Lamp Out#
and#Low Tire Pressure.#

NOTE:
•If the Air Bag Warning Lightdoes not illuminate
when placing the ignition in MAR/RUN, or stays
on during MAR/RUN (together with the message
displayed), it is possible that there is a fault in
restraint systems. In this case, the air bag or the
pretensioners might not deploy in the event of an
accident or, in a more limited number of cases,
deploy incorrectly. Before continuing, please contact
an authorized dealer for the immediate service of
the system.
•The failure of the Air Bag Warning Lightis de-
clared by the illumination of the iconin the
instrument cluster display. In this case, the Air Bag
Warning Light may not report any anomalies of the
restraint systems. Before continuing, please contact
your authorized dealer for the immediate service of
the system.
Seat Belt Reminder
•What Does It Mean
The light comes on as a steady light with the
car stopped as a driver seat belt reminder.
•What To Do
For the permanent deactivation of the horn (buzzer)
system S. B. R. (Seat Belt Reminder), contact your
authorized dealer. It is possible to reactivate the
system through the Setup Menu.
Engine Temperature Warning
•What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition in MAR/RUN posi-
tion, the indicator light illuminates but should
go out after a few seconds.
The indicator light (or on some vehicles the icon on
the display) illuminates when the engine is over-
heated. The dedicated message shows in the display.

Do not operate the vehicle until the cause is cor-
rected. This light does not show how much oil is in
the engine. The engine oil level must be checked
under the hood.
NOTE:If the symbol comes on while driving, stop the
engine immediately and see an authorized dealer as soon
as possible.
Air Bag Warning Light
•What Does It Mean
Illumination of the Air Bag Warning Light
indicates a failure of the air bag system
when the ignition switch is placed in the
MAR/RUN position.
The display shows the message dedicated.
•What To Do
If the light is either not on during starting, stays on,
or turns on while driving, have the system inspected
at an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Charging System Light
•What Does It Mean
This light shows the status of the electrical
charging system. If the light stays on or comes on
while driving, turn off some of the vehicle’s non-
essential electrical devices or increase engine speed
(if at idle). If the charging system light remains on, it
means that the vehicle is experiencing a problem with
the charging system.
•What To Do
Have your vehicle serviced immediately. See an au-
thorized dealer.
Door Ajar
•What Does It Mean
This light will illuminate to indicate that
one or more doors may be ajar. With the
doors open and the vehicle in motion, a
chime will sound.

What To Do
Properly close the door(s).
Hood Open Warning Light
•What Does It Mean
The light will illuminate when the engine
hood is not completely closed. With the
hood open and the vehicle in motion, a
chime will sound.
•What To Do
Properly close the hood.
Liftgate Open Warning Light
•What Does It Mean
This light will illuminate when the liftgate
is open. With the tailgate open and the
vehicle in motion, a chime will sound.
•What To Do
Properly close the liftgate.
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
•What Does It Mean
The light will illuminate when the ignition is
first placed in the MAR/RUN or AVV/
START position and remain on briefly as a
bulb check. If the light does not come on during starting,
have the system checked by an authorized dealer.
If a problem is detected, the light will come on while
the engine is running. Bring the vehicle to a complete
stop and place it into PARK. Cycle the ignition to the
STOP/OFF position; the light should turn off.
If the light remains lit with the engine running, your
vehicle will usually be drivable. However, see an
authorized dealer for service as soon as possible.
If the light is flashing when the engine is running,
immediate service is required. You may experience
reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or en-
gine stall, and your vehicle may require towing.
