This system uses a four-corner strategy toprovide quick access to several vehiclefeatures and settings. The touchscreenprovides easy interaction with your cellularphone, multimedia, climate control andnavigation system. The corners display anyactive modes within those menus, such asphone status or the climate temperature.
Note:Some features are not available whileyour vehicle is moving.
Note:Your system is equipped with afeature that allows you to access andcontrol audio features for 30 minutes afteryou switch the ignition off (and no doorsopen).

•For your safety, some SYNC functionsare speed-dependent. Their use islimited to when your vehicle is travelingat speeds under 3 mph (5 km/h).
Make sure that you review your device'smanual before using it with SYNC.
Speed-restricted Features
Some features of this system may be toodifficult to use while your vehicle is movingso they are restricted from use unless yourvehicle is stationary.
•Screens crowded with information,such as Point of Interest reviews andratings, SIRIUS Travel Link sportsscores, movie times or ski conditions.
•Any action that requires you to use akeyboard is restricted, such as enteringa navigation destination or editinginformation.
•All lists are limited so the user can viewfewer entries (such as phone contactsor recent phone call entries).

Privacy Information
When you connect a cellular phone toSYNC, the system creates a profile withinyour vehicle that links to that cellularphone. This profile helps in offering youmore cellular features and operating moreefficiently. Among other things, this profilemay contain data about your cellularphone book, text messages (read andunread), and call history, including historyof calls when your cell phone was notconnected to the system. In addition, if youconnect a media device, the systemcreates and retains an index of supportedmedia content. The system also records ashort development log of approximately10 minutes of all recent system activity.The log profile and other system data maybe used to improve the system and helpdiagnose any problems that may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index,and development log remain in yourvehicle unless you delete them and aregenerally accessible only in your vehiclewhen the cellular phone or media playeris connected. If you no longer plan to usethe system or your vehicle, we recommendyou perform a Master Reset to erase allstored information.
System data cannot be accessed withoutspecial equipment and access to yourvehicle's SYNC module. Ford MotorCompany and Ford of Canada do notaccess the system data for any purposeother than as described absent consent, acourt order, or where required by lawenforcement, other governmentauthorities, or other third parties actingwith lawful authority. Other parties mayseek to access the informationindependently of Ford Motor Company andFord of Canada. Voice Settings
Voice settings allow you to customize thelevel of system interaction, help andfeedback. The system defaults to standardinteraction that uses candidate lists andconfirmation prompts as these provide thehighest level of guidance and feedback.
•Interaction Mode: Novice modeprovides detailed interaction andguidance while the advanced modehas less audible interaction and moretone prompts.
•Confirmation Prompts: The systemuses these short questions to confirmyour voice request. If turned off, thesystem simply makes a best guess asto what you requested. The systemmay still occasionally ask you toconfirm settings.
•Phone and Media Candidate Lists:Candidate lists are lists of possibleresults from your voice commands. Thesystem creates these lists when it hasthe same confidence level of severaloptions based on your voice command.
To access these settings using thetouchscreen:
1. Press the Settings icon > Settings >Voice Control.
2. Select from:

Your voice system has a dual mode featurewhich allows you to switch between usingvoice commands and making on-screenselections. When this feature is on, the system automatically switchesto the media source upon initial connection. This allowsyou to listen to music during the indexing process. Whenthis feature is off, the system does not automaticallyswitch to the inserted media source.
Autoplay
Select to connect, disconnect, add or delete a device. Youcan also set a device as your favorite so that the systemautomatically attempts to connect to that device at everyignition cycle.
