•Do not operate playing devices if thepower cords or cables are broken, splitor damaged. Place cords and cablesout of the way, so they do not interferewith the operation of pedals, seats,compartments or safe driving abilities.
•Do not leave playing devices in yourvehicle during extreme conditions as itcould cause them damage. See yourdevice's user guide for furtherinformation.
•For your safety, some SYNC functionsare speed-dependent. Their use islimited to when your vehicle is travelingat speeds under 3 mph (5 km/h).
Make sure that you review your device'smanual before using it with SYNC.
Speed-restricted Features
Some features of this system may be toodifficult to use while your vehicle is movingso they are restricted from use unless yourvehicle is stationary.
•Screens crowded with information,such as Point of Interest reviews andratings, SIRIUS Travel Link sportsscores, movie times or ski conditions.
•Any action that requires you to use akeyboard is restricted, such as enteringa navigation destination or editinginformation.
•All lists are limited so the user can viewfewer entries (such as phone contactsor recent phone call entries).

Using Voice Recognition
This system helps you control manyfeatures using voice commands. Thisallows you to keep your hands on thewheel and focus on what is in front of you.The system provides feedback throughaudible tones, prompts, questions andspoken confirmations depending on thesituation and the chosen level ofinteraction (voice settings).
The system also asks short questions(confirmation prompts) when it is not sureof your request or when there are multiplepossible responses to your request.
When using voice commands, words andicons may appear in the lower left statusbar indicating the status of the voicesession (such as Listening, Success, Failed,Paused or Try Again).
How to Use Voice Commands with YourSystem
Press the voice icon. After thetone, speak your commandclearly.

What Can I Say?
To access the available voice commandsfor the current session, do one of thefollowing:
•During a voice session, press the Helpicon (?) in the lower left status bar ofthe screen.
•Say, "What can I say?" for anon-screen listing of the possible voicecommands associated with yourcurrent voice session.
•Press the voice icon. After the tone, say,"Help" to hear a list of possible voicecommands.
Helpful Hints
•Make sure the interior of your vehicle isas quiet as possible. Wind noise fromopen windows and road vibrations mayprevent the system from correctlyrecognizing spoken commands.
•After pressing the voice icon, wait untilafter the tone sounds and Listeningappears before saying a command. Anycommand spoken prior to this does notregister with the system.
•Speak naturally, without long pausesbetween words.
•At any time, you can interrupt thesystem while it is speaking by pressingthe voice icon.
Accessing a List of Available Commands
•If you use the touchscreen, press theSettings icon > Help > VoiceCommand List.
•If you use the steering wheel control,press the voice icon. After the tone,speak your command clearly.

Voice Settings
Voice settings allow you to customize thelevel of system interaction, help andfeedback. The system defaults to standardinteraction that uses candidate lists andconfirmation prompts as these provide thehighest level of guidance and feedback.
•Interaction Mode: Novice modeprovides detailed interaction andguidance while the advanced modehas less audible interaction and moretone prompts.
•Confirmation Prompts: The systemuses these short questions to confirmyour voice request. If turned off, thesystem simply makes a best guess asto what you requested. The systemmay still occasionally ask you toconfirm settings.
•Phone and Media Candidate Lists:Candidate lists are lists of possibleresults from your voice commands. Thesystem creates these lists when it hasthe same confidence level of severaloptions based on your voice command.
To access these settings using thetouchscreen:
1. Press the Settings icon > Settings >Voice Control.
2. Select from:
•Interaction Mode
•Confirmation Prompts
•Media Candidate Lists
•Phone Candidate Lists
•Voice Control Volume.
To access these settings using voicecommands:
1. Press the voice icon. Wait for theprompt "Please say a command".Another tone sounds to let you knowthe system is listening.

Under this menu, you can setyour clock, access and adjust thedisplay, sound and vehiclesettings as well as access settings forspecific modes or the help feature.
Clock
Note:You cannot manually set the date.Your vehicle’s GPS does this for you.
Note:If the battery has been disconnected,your vehicle needs to acquire a GPS signalto update the clock. Once your vehicleacquires the signal, it may take a fewminutes for the update to display the correcttime.
1. Press the Settings icon > Clock.
2. Press + and - to adjust the time.
From this screen, you can also make otheradjustments such as 12-hour or 24-hourmode, activate GPS time synchronizationand have the system automatically updatenew time zones.
You can also turn the outside airtemperature display off and on. It appearsat the top center of the touchscreen, nextto the time and date.
The system automatically saves anyupdates you make to the settings.
Display
You can adjust the touchscreen displaythrough the touchscreen or by pressing thevoice button on your steering wheelcontrols and when prompted, say, "Displaysettings".
Press the Settings icon >Display, to access and makeadjustments using thetouchscreen.
•Brightness allows you to make thescreen display brighter or dimmer.
•Auto DIM, when set to On, lets you usethe Auto Dim Manual Offset feature.When set to Off, screen brightnessdoes not change.
•Mode allows you to set the screen toa certain brightness or have the systemautomatically change based on theoutside light level, or turn the displayoff.
•If you select AUTO or NIGHT, youhave the options of turning thedisplay's Auto Dim feature on or offand changing the Auto Dim ManualOffset feature.
•Auto Dim Manual Offset allows youto adjust screen dimming as theoutside lighting conditions change fromday to night. This feature also allowsyou to adjust screen brightness usingthe instrument panel dimming control.
•Edit Wallpaper
•You can have your touchscreendisplay the default photo or uploadyour own.
Uploading Photos for Your HomeScreen Wallpaper
Note:You cannot load photos directly fromyour camera. You must access the photoseither from your USB mass storage deviceor from an SD card.
Note:Photographs with extremely largedimensions (such as 2048 x 1536) may notbe compatible and appear as a blank(black) image on the display.
Your system allows you to upload and viewup to 32 photos.
To access, press the Settingsicon > Display > EditWallpaper, and then follow thesystem prompts to upload yourphotographs.

Select the type of notification for phone calls - ring tone,beep, text to speech, or have it be silent.Phone Ringer

Wireless & Internet
Your system has a Wi-Fi feature thatcreates a wireless network within yourvehicle, thereby allowing other devices(such as personal computers or phones)in your vehicle to speak to each other,share files or play games. Using this Wi-Fi
feature, everyone in your vehicle can alsogain access the internet if you have a USBmobile broadband connection inside yourvehicle, your phone supports personal areanetworking and if you park outside awireless hotspot.

Wi-fi
Wi-Fi Network (Client) Mode turns the Wi-Fi feature onand off in your vehicle. Make sure you turn it on forconnectivity purposes.
Wi-Fi Settings
Choose a Wireless Network allows you to use a previ-ously stored wireless network. You can categorize byalphabetical listing, priority and signal strength. You canalso choose to search for a network, connect to a network,disconnect from a network, receive more information,prioritize a network or delete a network.
Gateway (Access Point) Mode makes SYNC an accesspoint for a phone or a computer when turned on. Thisforms the local area network within your vehicle for things,such as game playing, file transfer and internet browsing.Press ? for more information.
Gateway (Access Point) Settings allows you to viewand change settings for using SYNC as the internetgateway.
Gateway (Access Point) Device List allows you to viewrecent connections to your Wi-Fi system.
Instead of using Wi-Fi, your system can also use a USBmobile broadband connection to access the internet. (Youmust turn on your mobile broadband device on yourpersonal computer before connecting it to the system.)This screen allows you to set up what is your typical areafor your USB mobile broadband connection. (USB mobilebroadband settings may not display if the device is alreadyon.) You can select the following: Country, Carrier, PhoneNumber, User Name and Password.
USB Mobile Broadband
Shows you the currently paired devices as well as givingyou your typical Bluetooth options to connect, disconnect,set as favorite, delete and add device. Bluetooth is aregistered trademark of the Bluetooth SIG.
Bluetooth Settings
Choose your connection methods and change them asneeded. You can select to Change Order and have thesystem either always attempt to connect using a USBmobile broadband or using Wi-Fi.

Your voice system allows you to changeaudio sources with a simple voicecommand. For example, if you are listeningto music on a USB device, then want toswitch to a satellite radio channel, simplypress the voice button on the steeringwheel controls and say the name of theSIRIUS station (such as, "the Highway").The following voice commands areavailable at the top level of the voicesession no matter which current audiosource you are listening to (such as a USBdevice or SIRIUS satellite radio).
