DPF (DIESEL PARTICULATE
FILTER) CLEANING IN PROGRESS

When the key is turned to MAR-ON, the warning
light switches on but should switch off after a few
seconds. The warning light (together with a message
and a symbol on the display on some versions)
switches on constantly to notify the driver that the
DPF system needs to eliminate captured pollutants
(particulate) through the regeneration process.
The warning light does not switch on during every
DPF regeneration, but only when driving conditions
require that the driver is notified. To switch the
warning light off, the car must be kept moving until
the regeneration process is completed.
On average, the process lasts fifteen minutes. The
best conditions to complete the regeneration
process are reached driving the car at about 60 km/h
with engine speed over 2000 rpm.
If this light switches on, it does not mean that the
car is defective, so there is no need to take it to
a workshop. On some versions, together with the
warning light switching on, the display shows a
dedicated message.
WARNING
The driving speed must always be
suitable for traffic and weather
conditions and the driver must always comply
with the Highway Code.The engine may be
switched off even if the DPF warning light is on:
repeated interruptions of the regeneration
process could cause an early deterioration of
engine oil. For this reason it is always advisable
to wait for the light to go off before turning
off the engine, following the instructions above.
It is not a good idea to complete DPF
regeneration with the car stationary.

CHECKING FLUID LEVELS

Never smoke while working in the engine compartment : inflammable gases
and vapours may be present , constituting a firerisk.
WARNING
Be very careful when working in theengine compartment when the engine is
hot : you may get burned. Remember that thefan may start up if the engine is hot : this couldinjure you. Make sure that scarves, ties andother loose fitting garments do not get caughtup in moving parts.
When topping up, take care not to mix upthe various types of fluids: they are notcompatible with each other and could
seriously damage the car.

HEAVY-DUTY USE OF THE CARIf the car is used mainly under one of the followingconditions: ❒
towing a trailer or caravan;
❒
dusty roads;
❒
short, repeated journeys (less than 7-8 km) at sub-zero outside temperatures;

engine often idling or driving long distances at lowspeeds or long periods of idleness;
you need to perform the following inspections morefrequently than shown in the Scheduled ServicingPlan: ❒
check front disc brake pad conditions and wear;
❒
check cleanliness of bonnet and boot locks, cleanliness and lubrication of linkage;
❒
visually inspect conditions of: engine, gearbox,transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust - fuelsystem - brakes) and rubber elements (boots -sleeves - bushes - etc.);
❒
check battery charge and battery fluid level(electrolyte);
❒
visually inspect condition of the accessory drivebelts;
❒
check and, if necessary, change engine oil andreplace oil filter;
❒
check and, if necessary, replace pollen filter.

ENGINE OIL
Engine oil level check
Check the oil level a few minutes (about five) after
the engine has stopped, with the vehicle parked
on level ground.
Take out engine oil dipstick A, clean it and then fully
reinsert it, take it out and check that the level is
between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick.
The range between the MIN and MAX marks
corresponds to approximately 1 litre of oil.
Topping up the engine oil
If the level of the oil is close to or below the MIN
mark, add oil via filler B until the MAX mark is
reached.
IMPORTANT If the engine oil level after the check is
over the MAX level, go to a Fiat Dealership to
have the correct level restored.
IMPORTANT After adding or changing the oil, let the
engine run for a few seconds and wait a few minutes
after switching it off before checking the level.
Engine oil consumption
The maximum engine oil consumption is
approximately 400 grams every 1,000 km.During the initial period of usage for the vehicle, the
engine is bedding in, therefore the engine oil
consumption may settle down only after the first
5,000 - 6,000 km.
IMPORTANT The oil consumption depends on
driving style and the conditions under which the car
is used.
IMPORTANT Do not add oil with specifications
other than those of the oil already in the engine.
WARNING
When the engine is hot , take care when
working inside the engine compartment
to avoid burns. Remember that the fan may
start up if the engine is hot : this could injure
you. Make sure that scarves, ties and other
loose fitting garments do not get caught up in
moving parts.
Used engine oil and oil filters contain
substances which are harmful to the
environment .To change the oil and filters,
we advise you to contact a Fiat Dealership.
