There is a malfunction with the windshield
wipers.

ately to have the mal function cor rected .
~/0$ Defective light bulb warning
J:i -If the ind icator light turns on, a bulb has
failed. The message indicates the location of
the bulb.
IJ-if a rear fog lamp has failed, the indicator
light t urns on to indicate the location on the
vehicle.
Vehicle lights: malfunction
If the message appears, there is a malfunc­
tion in the headlights or lig ht switch.
Drive to you r authorized Aud i dealer immedi­
ately to have the malfunction corrected.
A WARNING
- Light bulbs are pressurized and could ex­
plode whi le they are being changed caus­
ing serious personal injury.
- Work with due care when handling the
high-voltage section of gas discharge
(xenon) lights. Failure to do so could re­
sult in death or serious injury.

If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, there is a malfunction in the
adaptive light system . The headlights sti ll
function.
Go to an authorized dealership to have the
headlights or the control unit for the Adaptive
Light repaired.
/i.O Light/rain sensor
El Automatic headlights/automatic wipers:
system fault
If the indicator light turns on and this mes ­
sage appears, the light/rain sensor is not
funct ioning correct ly.
For safety reasons the low beams are tur ned
on permanently with the switch in
AUTO.
However, you can continue to turn the lights
on and off using the light switch. You can st ill
control all functions that are independent of
the ra in sensor through the w indshield wiper
lever .
Contact your authorized Audi dealer as soon
as possible to have the problem corrected .
; Adaptive dampers
Applies to vehicles: with adaptive dampers
II Suspension: System fault! You can con­
tinue driving
If the II symbol in the d isplay comes on,
there is a malfunction in the adaptive damp­
ers. Please go to an authorized Aud i dealer or
other qualified workshop to have the malfunc­

Switching the headlights on and off

when switching off the ig nition, the head­

All-weather light s
In vehicles with all -weather lights, the front
lights are ad justed automatically so that you
are less like ly to see glare from your own
headlig hts, for example when driving on a wet
road .
Automatic headlight range cont rol*
T he headlights do not blind oncoming traffic
if the veh icle load changes . The head light
range also ad justs automatica lly when brak­
ing and accelerating .
Light functions
The following light funct ions are availab le de­
pending on vehicle equipment and o nly func ­
tion when the lig ht switch is i n the AUTO posi ­
t ion. You can deactivate these functions in the
MMI u nder
Audi adapt ive light *¢ page 45.
Vehicles with Static corneri ng light*: the cor­
nering light switches on a utomatica lly when
the steering whee l is turned at a certa in angle
at speeds up to app rox imately 44 mph
(70 km/h) and when the turn signal is activat­
ed at speeds up to app rox imately 25 mph
(40 km/h) . Th e ar ea to the side of th e vehicle
is illum inated better when turn ing .
Vehicles with
Dynamic curve light*: the curve
light only functions at speeds betwee n ap­
proximate ly 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph
(110 km/ h) and adapts itse lf to the cu rves in
the road.
A WARNING
- Automatic headlights are o nly inte nded
t o assist the driver. They do not relieve
the dr iver of his respons ibility to check
the head lights and to turn them on ma n-
ually accord ing to the current light and ,..

visibility conditions. For example, fog cannot be detected by the light sensors.
So always switch on the headlights 1§.D under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark.
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see
the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by other motorists . Always turn on
the headlights so that you can see ahead
and so that others can see your car from
the back.
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the light ing systems descr ibed .
(D Note
The rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traffic regulation, as
the lights are bright for following traffic.
@ Tips
- The light sensor* for automatic head­ light range control* is located in the rear
view mirror mount. You should therefore not apply any stickers to the windshield
in this area in order to prevent malfunc­
tions or failures.
- In the event of a light sensor malfunc­
tion, the driver is notified in the instru­
ment cluster display ¢
page 21.
-You will hear a warning tone if you open
the driver door when the exterior lights
are switched on .
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail
lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clear shortly after
switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting .

Emergency flasher
The emergency flasher makes other motorists
aware that you or your vehicle are in an emer­
gency situation .

When the emergency flasher is on, all four
turn signals blink at the same time . The turn
signal indicator lights
B DI in the instru­
ment cluster, as well as the light in the emer­
gency flasher switch &.. blink likewise. The
emergency flashers also work when the igni­
tion is turned off.
The emergency flashers will turn on automati­
cally if you are in an accident where the airbag has deployed.
@ Tips
You should turn on the emergency flashers
when:
- you a re the last vehicle standing in a traf­
fic jam so that any other vehicles coming
can see you, or when
- your vehicle has broken down or you are
in an emergency situation, or when
- your vehicle is being towed by a tow
truck or if you are towing another vehicle
behind you.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
The settings are adjusted in the MMI.

- Garment hooks on the sides of the pillars in
the rear of the vehicle and in the rear grab

- Compartment in the rear center armrest
- Storage in the trim panels in the luggage
compartment
~ WARNING
-
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
-Always keep the lid of the compartment
for (sun)glasses* closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury during a sudden
braking maneuver or in the event of an
accident.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's view. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang
any clothing with hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially
If the airbag is deployed -
these objects could injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the risk of personal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS
~ page 160, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
-Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock- ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause
personal
injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging
clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudden stop.
(D Note
Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the heating wires for the rear window defog-
ger .
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

... Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when installing the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the following:
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program . .,..

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off . Use the dials to adj ust the temperature,
the blower speed and the a ir distribution. The
LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is switched on. The settings are shown in
the cl imate control display and are a lso shown
in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
e r and fron t passenger settings can be adjust­
in g separately.
The settings can also be adjusted in the rear

IOFFl Switching the climate control
system on/off
The IO FFI button switches the climate control
system on or off .
It also switches on w hen you
turn the dia l or press any button . Airflow from outside is
blocked when the climate control
system is switched off.

You can activate the residual heat function
when the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
ing the ~ button. The residua l heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior.
The residua l heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
IA/Cl Switching cooling mode on/off
T he air is not coo led and humidity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off .
This can cause fog on the windows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is be low zero.
1-1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi­
cle is circulated and filtered . This prevents the
u nfiltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior. We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunne l or when sitting in traff ic
c::> ,&. .
The

switches recirculation mode off.

other vehicles.
- For safety reasons, the cruise control
should not be used in the city, in stop­ and-go traffic, on twisting roads and
when road conditions are poor (such as
ice, fog, gravel, heavy rain and hydro­
planing) -risk of accident .
- Turn off the cruise control temporarily
when entering turn lanes, highway exit
lanes or in construction zones.
- Please note that inadvertently "resting" your foot on the accelerator pedal causes
the cruise control not to brake. This is
because the cruise control is overridden
by the driver's acceleration.
- If a brake system malfunction such as
overheating occurs when the cruise con­
trol system is switched on, the braking
function in the system may be switched
off. The other cruise control functions re­
main active as long as the indicator light
II (US models) !Iii (Canadian models)
is on.
The brake lights illuminate as soon as the
brakes decelerate automatically.
Changing speed
Applies to vehicles: with cru ise control
.,. To increase/decrease the speed in incre­
ments, tap the lever in the
010 direction

the lever in the
010 direction until the de­
sired speed is displayed.
You can also press the accelerator pedal down
to increase your speed, e.g . if you want to
pass someone. The speed you saved earlier
will resume as soon as you release the acceler­
ator pedal.
If , however, you exceed your saved speed by
6 mph (10 km/h) for longer than 5 minutes,
the cruise control will turn off temporarily.
The green symbol
II (US models) !Iii (Cana- dian models) in the display will go out but the
saved speed remains the same.
Presetting your speed
Applies to vehicles: with cruise cont

You can preset your desired speed while the
vehicle is not moving.

to save the speed you want before driving on

sume the saved speed, release the brake ped­

Switching the ignition off erases the saved

if it is not too fast for the current traffic
conditions -risk of an accident!
