BRAKE/( ©) Brake system
The light illuminates when the ignition is
switched on. It goes out after the engine has
been started . Th is indicates that the brake
warn ing light is functioning properly.
If the brake warning light does not light up
when the engine is cranking , there may be a
malfunction in the electrical system. In this
case, contact your Audi dealer.
If the brake system warning/indicator light
turns on, there is a brake system malfunction .

- Driving with low brake fluid is a safety
hazard. Stop the car and get professiona l
assistance.

models) brake system indicator light
turns on togethe r with the ABS and ESC
indicator lights, the ABS/ESC regulating
function may have failed. Functions that
stabilize the vehicle are no longer availa­
ble. This could cause the vehicle to
swerve and increase the r isk of slid ing .
Drive carefully to the nearest authorized
Aud i dealer or other qualified workshop
and have the ma lfunction corrected.
- If the brake wa rning/ind icator light does
not go out after a few seconds and the pa rking brake is re leased, or lights up
while you are dr iving, the f lu id l eve l in
the brake fluid reservoir is too low. If you
believe that it is safe to do so, proceed

The II (USA models)/S,I (Canada mode ls) in­
d icator light monitors the safety systems (e .g.
a irbags, pretensioners) and illuminates for a
few seconds each time you switch the ignition
on.
I f the
II (USA mode ls)/ S,I (Canada models)
indicator light does not go out, or if it illumi­
nates while you are driving, or if it starts to
blink, then there is a ma lfunction somewhere
in the system.
If the light does not illuminate
when you switch the ignition on, this also means there is a malfunction.
A WARNING
If you have a malfunction in the safety sys­
tems, contact your author ized Audi dealer
immediate ly. Otherwise the safety sys­
tems may not wo rk properly in an acci­
dent.
& Central indicator light
I f the indicator light . or II turns on, check
the message in the instrument cluster.
;;,J {J Electronic Stabilization Control
(ESC)
If the J,.J indicator light blinks wh ile driving,
the ESC or ASR (Ant i- S lip Regulation) is active ­
ly regulating .
If the
Ji! indicator light turns on, the system
has sw itched the ESC off. In this case, you can
switch the ignition off and then on to switch
the ESC on again . The indicator light turns off
when the system is functioning fully .

brakes still function with their normal power,
but ABS is not active.

function corrected .

together with the ABS and ESC indicator
lights, the ABS/ESC regulating function

ABS/{ €,) Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
This warning/indicator light monitors the ABS
and the electronic differential lock (EDL).
The wa rning/indicator light fi1 (USA mod-
els)

f ew seconds when the ignition is sw itched on.
T he light will go out after an automatic check
sequence is comp leted .
There is a malfunction in the ABS when:
-The warning/indicato r light does not illum i­
nate when you switch the ignit io n on.
- The warning/indicator l ight does not go out
after a few seconds.
- The warn ing/ indicator light illum inates
while d riving.
The ESC indicator lig ht also illum inates if
there is a malfunction in the ABS. The mes ­

mand for power is low and other con diti ons
are met, the engine automatically deacti ­

is ne eded .

The current engine load (meaning the current
boost pressure) is indicated by a bar .
@ Shifting indicator
The shifting indicator is only visible when
shifting gears with the selector lever in tip­
tronic mode¢
page 107. Green LEDs turn on
as the engine RPMs increase. The L EDS flash
red at speeds near the RPM lim it.
I n vehicles with an activated head-up display
¢ page 2 7, the shifting indicator is shown in
the head-up disp lay instead of the instrument
cluster.
© Engine oil temperature indicator
If the engine oil temperature is below 140 °F
(60 °(), the l!I symbo l followed by three hy­
phens "- - -" and the °C un it is shown .
The engine has reached its operating temper ­
ature when the engine o il temperature is be­
tween 140
°F (60 °() and 248 °F (120 °() un­
der normal d riving conditions. The engine oil
temperature may be higher if there is heavy
engine load and high temperatures outside.
This is not a cause for concern as long as the
• ¢page 16 or II ¢page 17 warning light
in the display does not flash.
Lap timer
Introduction
You can record and evaluate lap times with
the lap timer in the disp lay ¢
page 28,
fig. 17. The time is measured in minutes, sec­
onds and 1/10 seconds. The hours are also
shown when the lap time exceeds 60 minutes .
The maximum individual measurement is 99
hours.
A maximum of SO laps may be record­
ed.
A WARNING

in g. As the driver, you have complete re­
sponsib ility for safety in traff ic. Only use
the functions in such a way t hat you a lways
maintain complete control over your vehi­
cle in all traffic situations .

When the lap timer stopwatch is running,
you can call up the on-board computer in­

(D-Rain sensor mode . The windsh ie ld wipers
swi tch on once the veh icle speed exceeds ap­
proximate ly 2 mph ( 4 km/h) and it is ra ining.
T he higher t he rain sensor sensit ivity is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to moisture on the w ind­
shield. You can deactivate rain sensor mode in
the MMI, which will then activate interm ittent
mode. Select:

Front cupholder
• To open the cupholder, tap the cover

t ion of the arrow.
• Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and
automatically secures the beverage.
• To close the rear cup holder, press on the
center section between the two arms and
push the cupholder in the slot as far as it
will go .
& WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehi cle while it is moving . In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing sca lding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can a lso cause an accident and personal
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder . Hard
cups and g lasses can cause injury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.
(D Note
On ly drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupho lder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's e lectronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.

Cooled glove compartment

The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on .

• Turn the knob@counterclockwise to switch
cooling on. The symbols on the knob indi­
cate the correct position .
• Turn the knob @clockwise to switch cooling
off.
The glove compartment cooling mode only
functions when the vehicle A/C system is
switched on . If the heating is switched on,
switching the glove compa rtment cooling
mode off is recommended.
& WARNING ~ -
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce
the r isk of injury.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Compartment in the glove compartment
