If the roof segment or sun shade detects an
ob ject in its path w hen it is closing, it will
open again automatically . In this case, you
can then close it with the power emergency
closing func tion .

the outs ide light is very low. Th is feature is
meant to rem ind you to sw itch on the
headligh ts when ou tside ligh t conditions
b ecome poor .

shade extends again as soon as the vehicle be­
gins traveling forward at a speed greater than
9 mph (15 km/h), as long as the ignition has
not been sw itched off in the meantime .

When lowering or raising the sunshade,
make sure there is nothing in its way and
that it has a free path to travel. This could
cause personal injury.
(D Tips
-
- Pressing the button~ several times
consecutively can trigger the overload
protection. The sun shade can only be ex­
tended/retracted again after a brief wait­
ing period.
- The rear window sun shade only func­
tions when the vehicle interio r is warmer
than
14°F (-10°() .

- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the cleanability
of the windshield .
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to protect the
windshield from ic ing by using a cover .
- You cannot activate the service pos it ion

Turn the knob to the desired position :
Q/P -In this position, you can adjust the
d river's and front passenger's exter io r mirrors
by turning the knob in the desired direction.
Qlil -The mirrors are heated depending on the
outside temperature .

Tilt function for the passenger 's mi rror
T o help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts Clear vi
sion 55
slight ly. The knob must be in the P position
for t his to happen.
You can adjus t the tilted m irror surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction.
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
er gear, the new mirror position is stored and
ass igned to the key you are using .
The mirror goes back into its orig inal position
once you drive forwa rd faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) or switch the ignition
off.
A WARNING
-Curved (i .e. convex) mirror surfaces in­
crease your field of view. Remember that
veh icles or other objects will appear
smaller and farther away t han when seen
in a flat m irror. If you use th is m irror to
estimate distances of following veh icles
when changing lanes, you could estimate
incor rectly and cause an accident.
(D Note
-If the m irror housing is moved uninten­
tionally (for example, while parking your
veh icle), then yo u must first fold the mir­
ror electrically. Do not readjust the mir­
ror housing man ually . You cou ld damage
the motor which controls the mirror .
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior mir ­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors . Never fold power fo lding ex­
terior mirrors by hand. On ly fold them in
and out using the power controls.

-If there is a malfunction in the electrical
system, you can sti ll adjust the exterior
mirrors by pressing the edge of the mir­

Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: wit h memory fu nctio n
The memory function allows you to quickly
and eas ily store and recall personal seating
p rofiles for the dr iver, front passenger and
outer rear seats*. The memory function is op­
erated through the master key and the memo­ ry buttons in the driver's/front passenger's
doors and the rear doors*.
The driver's seating profi le is stored and as ­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked . When you open the door, the seat­
ing profile is automatically recalled. If two

115-volt socket
A ppl ies to vehicles: with 115-volt socket
The 115-vo lt socket can o nly be used when
the eng ine is running ¢,&. . Whe n you push
the connector a ll the way into the socket, the
child safety mechan ism releases and cu rrent
f lows through the socket.
Equipment that can be connected
Elect rical devices can be connected to the 115
volt socket in the veh icle . Power consumption at
the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150
watts (300 watts peak) . Check the power con­
s u mption of the equipment on the mode l
plate.
LED on the socket
- The socket is ready for use when the L ED is
green.
- I f the L ED blin ks red, there is a ma lf u nct ion.
The socket wi ll swi tch off automatica lly due
to overc urrent or overheating . The socket
w ill switch on aga in a utomat ica lly after a
coo l-down period. Any devices that are con­
nected and switched on will activate again
automatically ¢

- The sockets and the electrical accesso ries
connected to them operate only when
the ignition is switched on. Inc orrect us­

T o reduce the risk of inju ries, never leave
chi ldren unatten ded in the veh icle with
the vehicle key .
- H eavy eq uipment or plugs with in tegrat­
e d power supply units can damage the
socket and lead to injur ies .
- Sto re a ll connected e quipment securely
while the vehicle is moving so that the y
cannot be thrown t hro ugh the veh icle in
the event of a braking maneuver or an
accident.
- Never sp ill any liquids on the socket. I f
any mo isture gets into the socket, make
certain that all the moisture has dried up
before us ing the socket again .
- Equipment that is connected to the vehi­
cle socket can heat up mo re than it does
when connected to the public gr id.
- When us ing adapters and exte ns io n
cords, the child safety for the 115-volt
socket is d isabled and the soc ket is live.
- Never i nse rt anything other than the
p lug of an appropr iate e lectr ical accesso·
ry into th e socket, especia lly t hings that
conduc t electr ic ity, e.g. meta l pens, knit­
t ing nee dles, etc. in to the co ntacts of the
1 15 -volt socket.

The 12 volt sockets can be used for electrical
accessories. The power input must not exceed
120 watts.

The sockets and the electrical accessories connected to them operate only when the
ignition is switched on. Incorrect usage
can lead to serious injuries or burns. To re­
duce the risk of injuries, never leave chil- dren
unattended in the vehicle with the

hicle key.

To avoid damaging the socket, only use plugs that fit properly .
-Never connect equipment that generates
electrical current, such as a solar panel
or battery charger, to the 12 volt socket.
This could damage the vehicle's electri­
cal system.
- The 12 volt socket should only be used
for a short period of ti me as a power
source for electrical equipment. Please
use the electrical sockets in the vehicle
when connecting equipment for longer periods.

When the engine is off and accessories are
still plugged in and are on, the vehicle bat­
tery can still be drained .

Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident

- Never carry any beverage containe rs with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving . In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liqu id could spill,
caus ing scald ing burns . Spill ed hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
acc ident.

On ly drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupho lder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your veh icle's electronic
equ ipment or sta in the upholstery, etc.
Cooled glove compartment
The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the A/C system is switched on.
