Three-zone climate control
Operation
Applies to vehicles: with three -zone climate control
We recommend pressing the IA UT O I button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

IAU TO I Switching automatic mode on
Automatic mode ma inta ins a constant tem­
pe rat ure ins ide the vehi cle. Air temp erature,
a ir flow an d air d ist ribution a re controlled au­
tom atically.

The temperature can be adjusted individ ua lly
for the dr iver and fro nt passenger using the
d ials @and @.
8fr Adjusting the airflow
Using the dial@, you can manually adj ust t he
amount of air generated by the blower to suit
your preferences . To have the ai rflow regu lat­
ed automatically, p ress the
!AU TO ! bu tton .

You can manually se lect the vents whe re the
a ir will flow. To have the air distribution regu­
lated automatically, press the
I AUTOI b utton .
1..,., 1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recirc ulation mode, the a ir inside the vehi­
cle is c irculated a nd filtered . T his prevents th e
unfiltered air outs ide the ve hicle from enter­
ing t he ve hicl e inte rio r. We recommend
swi tching recirc ulati on mode on when driving
t hr ou gh a tunne l o r w hen sit ting in t ra ffic

I OFF I Switching the climate control
system on/off
T he IOFF ! button switches the cli mate con trol
s y ste m on or off. It also sw it c hes on whe n yo u
tu rn the dia l or press any bu tton . Airflow from
o utside is blocked when the climate control
system is switched off .
IA/Cl Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is n ot co oled a nd hu midity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is swi tched off .
T his can ca use fog on the w in dows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when t he
outside temperat ure is be low ze ro.

l The windshield and side windows are defrost­
ed or cleared of condensation as quickly as
possib le. The maximum amount of air flows
mainly from the vents be low the windshield.
Recirculation mode switches off. The tempera­
ture should be set to approximately 72 °F (22
°() .
The IAUTOI button switches the defroster off.
IQil REAR I Switching rear window heater
on/off
The rear window heater only operates when
the engine is running.
It switches off auto­
matica lly after a few minutes, depending on
the outside temperature.
To prevent the rear window heater from
switch ing off automatica lly, press and hold
the
!llill REARI button for more than 2 seconds.
This remains stored until the ignition is
sw itched off.
QJ Adjusting seat heating
Pressing the button switches the seat heating
on at the highest setting ( leve l 3) . The LEDs
indicate the temperature level. To reduce the
temperature, press the button again. To
switch the seat heating off, press the button repeatedly until the LE D turns off .
After 10 minutes, the seat heating automati­
cally switches from leve l 3 to level 2.
The seat heating for both outer rear seats * is
adj usted using the buttons in the center con­
sole.

Air vents
You can open or close the center and outer
vents in the cockpit and the vents in the rear
center console using the ridged thumbwheels.
The levers adjust the direction of the airflow
from the vents.
The air temperature in the rear can be adjust­
ed so that it is warmer or co lder by turning
the knob to the red or blue area.
A WARNING
- Do not use the recirc ulation for extended
periods of time. The windows could fog
up since no fresh a ir can enter the vehi­
cle. If the windows fog up, press the air
recirc ulat ion button again immed iately
to switch off the air recirculation func­
tion or select defrost.
- Individuals with reduced sensitivity to
pa in or temperature could develop burns
when using the seat heating function . To
red uce the risk of injury, these individu­
a ls shou ld not use seat heating.

To avoid damage to the heating elements
in the seats, do not kneel on the seats or
place heavy loads on a small area of the
seat.

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off. Use the dials to adjust the temperature,
the blower speed and the air distribution. The LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is switched on. The settings are shown in
the climate control display and are also shown in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
er and front passenger sett ings can be adjust­
ing separately.

IOFFj Switching the climate control
system on/off
The I O FFI button switches the climate control
system on or off .
It also switches on when you
turn the dia l or press any button. Airflow from outside is blocked when the
climate control
system is switched off .
You can activate the residual heat function
whe n the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
ing the ~ button. The residua l heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior .
The residual heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
jA/C j Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not coo led and humidity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
T his can cause fog on the windows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is be low zero .
1- 1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi ­
cle is circu lated and filtered. This prevents the
unfiltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior . We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traffic

Switching adaptive cruise control off
.. Push the lever away from you into position
@ until it clicks into place. The message
ACC off appears.

No vehicles are detec ted up ahead. The stored
speed is ma intained.
• -A moving vehicle is detected up ahead.
The adaptive cruise control system regulates
the speed and distance to the moving vehicle
ahead and acce lerates/brakes automatical ly.
fit -Adaptive cruise contro l is switched on. A
mov ing vehicle up ahead was detected. Your
vehicle remains stopped.
• -When automatic brak ing is not able to
keep enough distance to a previously detected
moving vehicle up ahead, you must take con­
trol and brake

If adaptive cruise control is not shown in the
d isp lay, you can call it up with the multifunc­
tion steering wheel buttons

Based on the symbols in the d isplay, you can
determine if the system is maintaining a dis­
tance to the vehicle ahead and what that d is­
tance is.
No vehicle -No veh icle ahead was detected .
White vehicle -A vehicle ahead was detected.
Red vehicle -Prompt for the driver to take ac­
tion

Both arrow s on the scale© indicate the dis­
tance to the vehicle ahead. No arrow appears
~ when the vehicle is on an open road and there

~ is no object ahead . If an object is detected
:;, ahead , the arrow moves on the scale .

The green zone on the scale shows the stored
distance. For information on changing the
stored distance, refer to

distance selected is too close or may soon be­
come too close, the arrows move into the red
zone on the sca le .
A WARNING
Improper use of the adaptive cruise con­
trol can cause collisions, other accidents
and serious personal injur ies .
- Pressing the
!SET ! button when driv ing at
speeds below 20 mph (30 km/h), will au­
tomatically accelerate the vehicle to 20
mph (30 km/h), which is the minimum
speed that can be set.
(D Tips
-If you switch the ignit ion or the adaptive
cruise control off, the set speed is erased
from the system memory.
- Th e elec tronic stab ilization control (ESC)
and the anti-slip-regulation (ASR) are au­
tomatically turned on when the adaptive
cruise control is turned on. Both systems
cannot be turned off if the adaptive
cruise contro l is turned on.

activate the system. The indicator light .
or . in the instrument cluster will illumi­
nate or go out.
Instrument cluster indicator light
• Ready: The indicator light shows that the
system is ready to use . The system can now
warn you if you are about to cross a known
lane marker line .
• Not ready: The ind icator light shows that
the system is turned on but unable to send a
warning . This can be due to the following :
- There is no lane marker line .
- The relevant lane marker lines are not de-
tected (for example, markings in a construc­
tion zone or because they are obstructed by
snow, dirt, water or backlight ing).
- The vehicle' s speed is below the speed need ­
ed to activate it, which is about 40 mph (65
km/h) .
- The lane is narrower than about 8 ft . (2 .5 m)
or wider than 15 ft (4 .5 m).
- The curve is too sharp . - The driver's hands are not on the steering
wheel.

Description

"N ight v is ion assistant with pedestrian detec­
tion" uses an infrared camera to monitor the
area in front of your vehicle at night. Within
the limits of the system , it can display objects
up to about 1000 feet (300 meters) away. The
heat image of a pedestrian detected by the
camera is shown in the instrument cluster dis­
play

Night vision assistant can detect pedestrians
that are between about 50 and 300 feet (15
and 90 meters) in front of the vehicle, under
ideal conditions .
If a pedestrian is detected
when it is dark outside and the vehicle head­
lights are switched on, the pedestrian is high ­
lighted in yellow
