The service interval display detects when your

The serv ice interva l display works in two
stages:
- Inspection or oil change reminder : After a
certain distance driven, a message appears
i n t he instr ument cluster d isp lay each time
the ignit ion is switched on or off

briefly.
- Inspect ion or oil change due : If your vehicle
is due for a n insp ection or o il change or

The headlights only work when the ignition is
switched on. The headlights turn off automat­ ically when the engine is switched on or when
the ignition is switched off. Only the side­ marker lights stay on .

when there is a change in vehicle load and
during braking and accelerating so that the
headlights do not cause glare for oncoming
traff ic.

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of your vehicle in dangerous situations.

You can indicate a lane change or a turn when
the eme rgency flashers are sw itched on by us­
i ng the turn signa l lever. The emergency flash­
ers stop temporarily .
The emergency flashers also work when the ignit io n is tu rned off.

You should switch the emergency flashers
on if:
- You are the last ca r in a traffic jam so
that all other veh icles approach ing from
behind can see you, or if
- Your vehicle has broken down or you are
having an emergency, or if
- Your vehicle is being towed or if you are
tow ing another vehicle .
Turn signal and high beam lever
The lever operates the turn signals, the high
beams and the headlight flasher.

ers, which increases the risk of an acci­

What can adaptive cruise control do?
The adaptive cruise control system uses rada r
and a video camera. The radar is subject to
designated system limits ¢ page 87.
On open roads w ith no traffic, it functions l ike
a cruise control system . Th e stored speed is
maintained . When approaching an object
ahead and the system detects it, the adaptive
cr uise control system automatically brakes to
match that object's speed and then maintains
the stored distance. As soon as the system
does not detect an object ahead, adaptive
cru ise control accelerates up to the stored
speed .
With in the limits of the system, adaptive
cru ise control can brake in stop-and-go traff ic
until the vehicle is stationary and then begin
driving aga in under certa in conditions
¢ page 91, Driving in stop-and-go traffic.
Which functions can be controlled?
When you switch adaptive cruise control on,
you can set the current speed as the "control speed" ¢ page
89, Switching on/off.
When driving, you can stop cruise control

The adaptive cruise control system assists you
in stop-and-go traffic. If an object that is de­
tected ahead stops, your vehicle will brake
and stay at a stop, within the limits of the sys­
tem.

A WARNING
If the message ACC autom. go1l appears,
the vehicle continues dr iving, even if there
is an obstacle between your veh icle and
the object ahead . This increases the risk of
an accident.

ments, tap the switch again to the right or
left . The distance between the two vehicles
will change in the instrument cluster dis­

When approaching an object detected ahead,
the adaptive cruise con trol system brakes to
match that object's speed and then reg ulates
to the stored distance . If the object detected
ahead acce lerates, adapt ive cruise control will
a lso acce lerate up to the stored speed .
The highe r the speed, the greater the distance
in meters

In certain cases, a vehicle will be classifie d as
cr itica l for a lane change even if it is still
somewhat far away . The faster a vehicle ap­
proaches, the sooner the display in the e xteri ­
or mirror will tur n on .
@ Vehicle s traveling with you
Vehicles traveling w ith you a re indicated in the
exterior m irror if they are classified as cr itical
for a lane change. All vehicles detected by
side assist are indicated by the time they en­
ter your "blind spot", at the latest .
© Vehicles left behind
If you s low ly pass a ve hicl e th at sid e ass ist has
de te ct ed (t he difference in s peed be tween the
vehicle and you r vehi cle is less than 9 mph or
15 km/ h), the display i n the exterio r mirro r
turns on as soon as the ve hicle enters your
blind spot.
The disp lay wi ll not t urn on if you quickly pass
a ve hicle that s ide assist has detected (t he d if ­
f erence in speed between the ve hicle and your
vehicle is greater than 9 mph or 15 km/h).
Functional limitations
T he ra dar senso rs are designed to detect the
left and right adjacent lanes whe n the road
l anes a re the normal width. I n some sit ua ­
t ions, the d isp lay in the exterior mirror may
tu rn on even thoug h there is no ve hicle locat­
ed in the area that is cr itical fo r a la ne cha nge.
Fo r exampl e:
- If the lanes are nar row or if your a re dr iving
o n t he e dge of your lane. If this is the case ,
the system may have detected the vehicle in
another la ne that is
not adjacent to you r
cur rent lane .
- If you are dr iving th ro u gh a curve . S ide as­
sist may react to a vehicle that is one lane
over from the adj ace nt lane.
- If si de assist reacts to o ther objects (such as
h igh or d is pl ace d gua rd rails) .
- In poor weather conditions. The side assist
fu nctions are limited .

- In poor weather conditions such as

there is a rise in the road surface.
Vehicles in the adjacent lane may not
be detected because they are outside
of the sensor range.
- Audi side assist cannot detect all vehicles
under all conditions, which can increase
the risk of accidents.
- Please note that side assist only displays approaching vehicles or vehicles in your
blind spot if your vehicle is traveling at
least 19 mph (30 km/h).
- In certain situations, the system may not
work or its function may be limited. For
example:
- The display may not turn on at the
right time if vehicles are approaching
or passing very quickly.
- In poor weather conditions, such as
heavy rain, snow or fog.
- In very wide lanes, in tight curves or
when there are slopes in the roadway,
vehicles in the neighboring lanes may not be detected because they are out­
side of the sensor range.

The sensors can be displaced by impacts or damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. This can affect the system. Have an authorized Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility check their func­
tion.

- If the window glass in the driver's door
or front passenger's door has been tint­
ed, the display in the exterior mirror may
be misinterpreted .

The display brightness can be adjusted in the
MMI.

The display brightness adjusts automatically
to the brightness of the surroundings, both in
the information and in the warning stage. In
very dark or very bright surroundings, the dis­
play is already set to the minimum or maxi ­
mum level by the automatic adjustment . In
such cases, you may notice no change when
adjusting the brightness, or the change may
only be noticeable once the surroundings
change.
Adjust the brightness to a level where the dis­
play in the information stage will not disrupt
your view forward.
If you change the bright­
ness, the display in the exterior mirror will
briefly show the brightness leve l in the infor­
mation stage. The brightness of the warning
stage is linked to the brightness in the infor­
mation stage and is adjusted along with the
information stage adjustment .
