Options/accessoriesAll types of option/accessory are marked with an asterisk*. In addition to standard equipment, the owner's manual also describes options (fac-tory fitted equipment) and certain accessories(retrofitted extra equipment). The equipment described in the owner's manual is not available in all cars - they havedifferent equipment depending on adapta-tions for the needs of different markets andnational or local laws and regulations. In the event of uncertainty over what is stand- ard or an option/accessory, contact a Volvodealer.

Accessories and extra equipment
The incorrect connection and installation of accessories and extra equipment can nega-tively affect the car's electronic system. Certain accessories only function when asso- ciated software is installed in the car's com-puter system. Volvo therefore recommendsthat you always contact an authorised Volvoworkshop before installing accessories orextra equipment which are connected to oraffect the electrical system.

The windscreen is equipped with a heat- reflecting film (IR) that reduces the solar heatradiation into the passenger compartment. The positioning of electronic equipment, such as a transponder, behind a glass surface withheat-reflecting film may affect its function andperformance. For the optimal function of electronic equip- ment, it should be positioned on the part ofthe windscreen with no heat-reflecting film(see the highlighted area in the above illustra-tion).Change of ownership for cars with Volvo On Call*
If the car is equipped with Volvo On Call, VOC it is important to change the owner of theservice. VOC is a supplemental service that consists of safety, security and comfort services. Inthe event of change of ownership it is impor-tant to change the owner of the service.
Closing the VOC serviceContact a Volvo dealer in the event of changeof ownership in order to close the VOC serv-ice. In the event of change of ownership it is important to reset personal settings in the car to the original factory settings 2

Starting the VOC serviceIt is very important that the VOC service changes owner so that the previous owner'sability to use services in the car is stopped.Contact a Volvo dealer in the event of achange of ownership.

Inflatable Curtain (IC)
The inflatable curtain helps to prevent the driver and passengers from striking theirheads on the inside of the car during a colli-sion.
Inflatable curtain IC (Inflatable Curtain) is part of the SIPS system (p. 31) and the airbag sys-tem (p. 28). It is fitted in the headlining alongboth sides of the roof and protects the car'soccupants sitting in the outer seats. A suffi-ciently violent collision trips the sensors andthe inflatable curtain is inflated.
WARNING
Never hang or attach heavy items onto the handles in the roof. The hook is onlydesigned for light clothing (not for solidobjects such as umbrellas for example). Do not screw or install anything onto the car's headlining, door pillars or side pan-els. This could compromise the intendedprotection. Volvo recommends that youonly ever use Volvo genuine parts that areapproved for placement in these areas.
WARNING
Do not load the car higher than 50 mm under the top edge of the door windows.Otherwise, the intended protection of theinflatable curtain, which is concealed in theheadlining, may be compromised.
WARNING
The inflatable curtain is a supplement to the seatbelts. Always use a seatbelt.

ABL faultThe symbol illuminates if a fault has arisen in the ABL function (Active Bending Lights).
Emissions systemIf the symbol illuminates after the engine hasbeen started then it may be due to a fault inthe car's emissions system. Drive to a work-shop for checking. Volvo recommends thatyou seek assistance from an authorised Volvoworkshop.
ABS faultIf this symbol illuminates then the system isnot working. The car's regular brake systemcontinues to work, but without the ABS func-tion.
1. Stop the car in a safe place and turn off
the engine. 2. Restart the engine.
3. If the symbol remains illuminated, drive to
a workshop to have the ABS system checked. Volvo recommends that youseek assistance from an authorised Volvoworkshop.
Rear fog lamp onThis symbol illuminates when the rear foglamp is switched on.
Stability systemA flashing symbol indicates that the stabilitysystem is operating. If the symbol illuminateswith constant glow then there is a fault in thesystem.
Stability system, sport modeSport mode allows for a more active drivingexperience. The system then detects whetherthe accelerator pedal, steering wheel move-ments and cornering are more active than innormal driving and then allows controlledskidding of the rear section up to a certainlevel before it intervenes and stabilises thecar.
Engine preheater (diesel)This symbol illuminates during engine pre-heating. Preheating mostly takes place due tolow temperature.
Low level in fuel tankWhen the symbol illuminates the level in thefuel tank is low, refuel as soon as possible.
