ACCESS
OPERATING FAULT LOCKING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ACTIVATING
THE ALARM
Lock or deadlock the vehicle using the key in the driver's door lock.
When the ignition is switched on, fi xed illumination of the indicator lamp
in the button indicates a fault with the system.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
FAILURE OF THE REMOTE CONTROL
To deactivate the monitoring functions:
unlock the vehicle using the key in the driver's door lock,
open the door; the alarm is triggered,
switch on the ignition; the alarm stops; the indicator lamp in the button goes off.
TRIGGERING OF THE ALARM
The monitoring functions remain active until the alarm has been
triggered eleven times in succession.
When the vehicle is unlocked using the remote control, rapid
fl ashing of the indicator lamp in the button informs you that the
alarm was triggered during your absence. When the ignition is
switched on, this fl ashing stops immediately.
This is indicated by sounding of the siren and fl ashing of the direction
indicators for thirty seconds.
2 minutes after closing the last door or the boot, the system is activat\
ed
automatically.
To avoid triggering the alarm when entering the vehicle, fi rst press the remote control unlocking button.

SAFETY
RCZ_EN_CHAP05_SECURITE_ED02-2013
BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
Group of supplementary systems which help you to obtain optimum
braking in complete safety in emergency situations:
- anti-lock braking system (ABS),
- electronic brake force distribution (EBFD),
- emergency braking assistance (EBA).
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM AND
ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION
Linked systems which improve the stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle when braking, in particular on poor or slippery surfaces.
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibration of
the brake pedal. When braking in an emergency, press very fi rmly without releasing
the pressure.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on, accompanied by an audible
signal and a message in the screen, it indicates a malfunction
of the anti-lock braking system which could result in loss of
control of the vehicle when braking. If this warning lamp comes on, together with the
STOP and
ABS warning lamps, accompanied by an audible signal and
a message in the screen, it indicates a malfunction of the
electronic brake force distribution which could result in loss of contro\
l of
the vehicle when braking.
You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
In either case, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
When replacing wheels (tyres and rims), ensure that they conform
to the manufacturer's recommendations.
When braking in an emergency, press fi rmly without releasing the
pressure.
EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE
System which, in an emergency, enables you to obtain the optimum
braking pressure more quickly, thus reducing the stopping distance.
Activation
It is triggered by the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed.
The effect of this is a reduction in the resistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking effi ciency.

TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
Towing from the front
On the front bumper, unclip the cover by pressing on the left.
Screw the towing eye in fully.
Install the towing bar. Place the gear lever in neutral (position N for an automatic
gearbox).
Failure to observe this instruction could result in damage to certain components (braking, transmission...) and the
absence of braking assistance the next time the engine is
started.
Unlock the steering by turning the ignition key one notch and release the parking brake.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps on both vehicles.
Move off gently and drive slowly and for a short distance only.
Towing from the rear
It is also possible to pull your vehicle from the rear, but only in
exceptional circumstances (vehicle in a parking space, off the road...).
On the rear bumper, unclip the cover by pressing on the left.
Screw the towing eye in fully.
Install the towing bar.
Place the gear lever in neutral (position N for an automatic
gearbox).
Switch on the hazard warning lamps on both vehicles.
Move off very gently to pull the vehicle out.
* Except 1.6 litre THP 270 hp version.
TOWING ANOTHER VEHICLE *
On the rear bumper, unclip the cover by pressing on the left.
Screw the towing eye in fully.
Install the towing bar.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps on both vehicles.
Move off gently and drive slowly and for a short distance only.
