This type of belt requires no length adjust-ment. Once worn, the belt adjusts itself to themovement of wearer, but in the event of asudden or strong shock, the belt automaticallylocks to hold the wearer’s body.1. Pull the seat belt out slowly while holdingthe latch plate.
2. Insert the latch plate into the buckle untila “click” is heard. 3. Pull the belt slightly to adjust slackness asdesired.
WA R N I N G zSeat belts should alw

adult who drives or rides in this vehicle, and by all children who are large enoughto wear seat belts properly.Other children should
always use proper
child restraint systems. zAlways place the sh
oulder belt over your
shoulder and across your chest. Never putit behind you or under your arm. zOne seat belt should
be used by only one
person. Doing otherwise can be danger-ous. zThe seat belt will provide its wearer withmaximum protection if the recliner seat-back is placed in fully upright position. When the seatback is reclined, there isgreater risk that the passenger will slideunder the belt, especially in a forwardimpact accident, and may be injured bythe belt or by striking the instrumentpanel or seatbacks. zRemove any twists when using the belt. zNo modifications or
additions should be
made by the user which will either preventthe seat belt adjustin
g devices from oper-
ating to remove slack, or prevent the seatbelt assembly from being adjusted toremove slack. zNever hold a child in your arms or onyour lap when riding in this vehicle, evenif you are wearing your seat belt. To do sorisks severe or fatal injury to your child ina collision or sudden stop.
zAlways adjust the belt to a snug fit. zAlways wear the lap portion of the beltover your hips.

If the operation mode of the power switch isput in ON while a seat belt is not fastened, thewarning lamp comes on and the tone soundsfor about 6 seconds to remind the driver andthe front passenger to fasten the seat belt.If the vehicle is driven with the seat belt stillunfastened, the warning lamp will blink andthe tone will sound intermittently until theseat belt is fastened. At the same time, “FAS-TEN SEAT BELT” is displayed on the infor-mation screen in the multi informationdisplay for the driver.

zThe seat belts in the rear seating outsidepositions are equipped with an automaticlocking retractor (ALR) mechanism. If you pull the seat belt fully out of theretractor, the retractor will switch to its ALRchild restraint installation mode and lock, thus preventing further movement. If this happens, you s
hould switch the retrac-
tor back to its emergency locking retractor(ELR) mode by taking off the seat belt andfully rewinding it. You should then wear theseat belt again.(Refer to “Installing a child restraint systemto a 3-point type seat belt (with emer-gency/automatic locking mechanism)” onpage 5-18.)

Remove the plate from the buckle, thenremove the seat belt from the child restraintsystem.
WA R N I N G zBefore putting the child in the restraint,be sure to make the conversion of theretractor from the ELR mode to the ALRmode. By doing so, the child restraint sys-tem is always tightly secured to the seat bythe automatic lock. By converting to ALRmode, the movement of the child restraintsystem in the event of sudden braking oran accident will be reduced, decreasingthe risk of seriously injuring the child orother occupants.NOTE
zIf a person wearing the seat belt moves theirupper body significantly such that the beltcompletely unwinds, the retractor mayswitch to its ALR mode and lock, thus pre-venting further movement. If this happens, the person should switch the retractor backto its ELR mode by taking off the seat beltand fully rewinding it. The person shouldthen wear the seat belt again.

It is quite dangerousto allow them to play there while the vehi-cle is moving.
When loading luggage, be careful not to loadabove the height of seats. This is dangerousnot only because rearward vision will beobstructed, but also the luggage may be pro-jected into the passenger compartment underhard braking.
