may not be able to get out. Children trapped inside vehicles can quickly be overcome by heat

injury or death due to heat stroke. Never leave children unattended inside a vehicle. In addition
to the risk of heat
stroke, children can activate switches and controls, resulting in an injury or fatalaccident.

the “LOCK” position.
Turn the steering wheel until it is locked. Turn the key to the “ACC” position while moving the steering
wheel slightly.

1. Make sure all occupants are properly seated with seat belts fastened. 2. Insert the key. 3. Make sure the parking brake is applied.4. Press and hold the brake pedal down with your right foot. 5. Make sure the selector
lever is in the “P”
(PARK) position.
6. Turn the key to the “ON” position and make certain that all warning lights arefunctioning properly before starting the electric motor unit. 7. Turn the key to the “START” position forone to two seconds, and
slowly return it to
its original position. When you hear the startup sound and the ready indicatorcomes on, startup of the electric motor unit is complete.
If the driver’s door is opened while the key is in the “ON” position, the electric motorreminder buzzer sounds
intermittently to
remind the key is in the electric motor switch.

To install the floor mat

wrong size or is not
properly installed, it can interfere with theoperation of the pedals. Interference withthe pedals can cause unintended accelera- tion and/or increased stopping distances resulting in a cras

make sure the floor mat does not interfere with the accelerator or brake pedal. Always use the reta
ining clip on the
driver’s floorboard to secure the floor mat. Always install the mat with the correct side facing down. Never install a second
mat over or under
an existing floor mat. Do not use a floor mat designed for another model vehicle even if it is aMitsubishi genuine floor mat. Before driving, be sure to check the fol- lowing:• Periodically check that the floor mat isproperly secured with the retaining clips. If you remove the floor mat while clean- ing the inside of you
r vehicle or for any
other reason, always check the condition of the floor mat after it has been rein- stalled.• While the vehicle is stopped with theelectric motor unit off, check that thefloor mat is not interfering with the ped- als by depressing the pedals fully.

7. Connect one end of one jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the dis- charged battery (A),
and then connect the
other end to the positive (+) terminal of the booster battery (B).
8. Connect one end of the other jumper cable
to the negative (-) terminal of the booster battery (B), and then connect the other end to the designated ground location of the vehicle with the dischargedbattery (A) at the point farthest from the battery.
9. Start the engine in the vehicle providing the boost. Let the engine idle a few min-utes, then start the electric motor unit by turning the electric motor switch to the ON position.
10. Check if the ready
indicator illuminates.
[When the ready indicator illuminates] Stop the engine of the other vehicle, and disconnect the cables in the reverse orderand keep the electric motor switch in the ON position to charge the 12V starter bat- tery for more than 30 minutes. After the 12V starter battery is charged, continue the process from step 17. [When the ready indicator does not illu- minate] Both the 12V starter battery and the main drive lithium-ion battery
have gone flat at
the same time. Charge the 12V starter battery and the main drive lithium-i
on battery by follow-
ing steps from steps 11 to 15.
WA R N I N G Make sure that the jumper cables and your clothing are clear of the cooling fansand drive belts. Entanglement with the fans or belts can cause serious personal injury.NOTE

Make sure that the connection is made to the correct designated location (asshown in the illustration) properly. If the connection is directly made to the negative (-) terminal of the battery, the flammablegases from inside the battery might catch fire and explode, caus
ing personal injury.
When connecting the jumper cables, do not connect the positive (+) cable to the negative (-) terminal.
Sparks can make the

3. Remove the screws (C) with a coin or the washer (D) at a position shown in theillustration, and remove the cover (E). 4. Remove the tire repair kit.

1. Return the tire repair kit to its original place. Attach the cover and fasten the screws.
2. Insert two wire tabs at the rear edge of the seat cushion under the seat back. 3. Pass both rear seat
belt buckles through
slits at the rear edge of the seat cushion. Make sure that the seat belt buckles arenot twisted. 4. While pushing the seat cushion as far back as possible, press down hooks (A)under the seat cushion into the right and left stopper installa
tion holes (B) until a
click is heard. 5. After installing the seat cushion, shake it lightly to confirm that it is properly fixed in position.

How to use the tire repair kit
WA R N I N G Never use the tire repair kit under in any of the situations listed below. The tire can-not be repaired by the tire repair kit. If any of these situations occurs, please con- tact a certified i-MiEV dealer.• More than one tire is punctured.• The puncture hole has a length or width of 1/7 inch (4 mm) or greater.• The tire is punctured in the side wall (A),not in the tread (B).• The vehicle has been driven with the tirealmost completely flat.• The tire has completely slipped over thewheel rim and come off the wheel.• The wheel is damaged.• A bump, cut or crack is on the tire.• The tire sealant’s expiration date has passed. (The expiration date is shown onthe bottle label (C).)• Ambient temperature is below -22 °F(-30 °C) or above 140 °F (60 °C).
