Vehicles with COMAND
Example:traffic circle
iThe following function is not operational
in all countries.
DISTRONIC PLUS usesadditionalinformation
from yournavigation system so that it can
react appropriately to certain traffic
situations. This is the case if, while following
avehicle, DISTRONIC PLUS is active and you:
Rapproach or drive throughatraffic circle
RapproachaT-intersection
Rturn off atahighwayexit
Even if the vehicleinfront leaves the
detection range, DISTRONIC PLUS
temporarily maintains the current driving
speedand does not accelerate. This is based
on the current map data in the navigation
system.
Afterwards, the vehicleaccelerates back to
the speedyou set.
Stopping
GWARNING
Never get out of the vehiclewhen DISTRONIC
PLUS is activated.
DISTRONIC PLUS must alsonever be
operated, activated or deactivated by a
passenger or from outside the vehicle.
DISTRONIC PLUS does not replace the
parking brake and must not be used for
parking.
The DISTRONIC PLUS braking effect is
canceled and the vehiclecan start moving if:
RDISTRONIC PLUS is deactivated using the
cruise control lever.
Ryou accelerate.
Rthere isamalfunction in the system or an
interruption in the power supply,e.g.
battery failure.
Rthe electricalsystem in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses are
tamperedwith.
Rthe battery is disconnected.
If you wishtoleave the vehicleorpark it,
deactivate DISTRONIC PLUS and secure the
vehicleagainst rolling away.
If DISTRONIC PLUS detects that the vehicle
in front is stopping, it brakes yourvehicle until
it is stationary.
Onceyour vehicle is stationary, it remains
stationary and you do not need to depress the
brake.
iDepending on the specified minimum
distance, your vehicle will come to a
standstill atasufficientdistancebehindthe
vehicle in front.The specified minimum
distance is set using the control on the
cruise control lever.
When DISTRONIC PLUS is activated, the
transmission is shifted automatically to
positionPif:
Rthe driver's door is open and the driver's
seat belt is unfastened.
Rthe engine is switched off, unless it is
automatically switched off by the ECO
start/stop function.
Rthe hood is opened.
Rasystem malfunction occurs.
Rthe power supply is not sufficient.

Rthere isamalfunction in the system or in
the voltage supply.
Rthe HOLD function has been deactivated by
pressing the accelerator pedal or the brake
pedal,e.g. byavehicle occupant.
Rthe electrical system in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses have
been tampered with.
Rthe battery is disconnected
There isarisk of an accident.
If you wish to exit the vehicle, always turn off
the HOLD function and secure the vehicle
against rolling away.
!If DISTRONIC PLUS or the HOLD function
is activated, the vehicle brakes
automaticallyincertain situations. To
prevent damage to the vehicle, deactivate
DISTRONIC PLUS and the HOLD function in
the following or other similarsituations:
Rwhen towingthe vehicle
Rin the car wash
Activation conditions
You can activatethe HOLDfunction if:
Rthe vehicle is stationary
Rthe engine is running or if it has been

Rthe parking brakeisreleased
Rthe hood is closed
Rthe transmission is in positionD,RorN
RDISTRONIC PLUS is deactivated
Activating theHOLD function
XMake sure that the activation conditions
are met.
XDepress the brakepedal.
XQuickly depressthe brakepedal further
until appears in the multifunction
display.
The HOLDfunction is activated. You can
release the brakepedal.
iIf depressing the brakepedal the first
timedoes not activatethe HOLDfunction,
wait briefly and thentry again.
Deactivatingthe HOLD function
The HOLD function is deactivated
automatically if:
Ryou accelerate and the transmission is in
positionDorR.
Ryou shift the transmission to positionP.
Ryou depress the brake pedalagain with a
certain amount of pressure until
disappears from the multifunction display.

Notes on 4MATIC vehicles
!Vehicles with 4MATICmust not be towed
with either the frontorthe rear axle raised,
as doing so will damage the transmission.
If the vehicle has transmission damage or
damage to the front or rear axle, have it
transported onatransporter or trailer.
In the event of damage to the electrical
system
If the battery is defective, the automatic
transmission will be locked in positionP.To
shift the automatic transmission to position
N,you must provide power to the vehicle's
electrical system in the same way as when
jump-starting (Ypage 326).
Have the vehicle transported onatransporter
or trailer.
Tow-starting (emergency engine
starting)
!Vehicles with automatic transmission
must not be started by tow-starting. This
could otherwise damage the transmission.
You can find information on "Jump-starting"
at (Ypage 326).
Fuses
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If you manipulate or bridgeafaulty fuse or if
you replace it withafuse withahigher
amperage, the electric cables could be
overloaded. This could result inafire. There
isarisk of an accident and injury.
Always replace faulty fuses with the specified
new fuses having the correct amperage.
!Only use fuses that have been approved
for Mercedes-Benzvehicles and which
have the correct fuse ratingfor the system
concerned. Otherwise, componentsor
systems could be damaged.
The fuses in your vehicle serve to close down
faulty circuits. Ifafuse blows,all the
componentsonthecircuit and their functions
stop operating.
Blown fusesmust be replacedwith fuses of
the same rating, which you can recognize by
the color and value. The fuse ratings are listed
in the fuse allocation chart.
Ifanewly inserted fuse also blows, have the
cause traced and rectified ataqualified
specialist workshop, e.g. an authorized
Mercedes-BenzCenter.
Beforechangingafuse
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away
(Ypage 167).
XSwitchoff all electrical consumers.
XTurn the SmartKey to position0in the
ignition lock and remove it (Ypage 147).
or
XOn vehicles with KEYLESS-GO, make sure
the ignition is switched off (Ypage 147).
All indicator lamps in the instrument cluster
must be off.
