Maintaining the time-dependent service
schedule:
X Note down the servic eduedate displayed
in the multifunctio ndisplay before
disconnecting the battery.
or
X After reconnecting the battery, subtract
the battery disconnection periods fro mthe
service date shown on the display.
Hiding aservice message X
Pres sthe 000C or0002 button on the
steerin gwheel. Displaying service messages X

Information about Service Resetting the ASSYST PLUS service
interval display
!
If the ASSYST PLUS service interval
displayh as been inadvertently reset, this
settingc an be corrected at aqualified
specialist workshop.
Have service work carried out as described
in the MaintenanceB ooklet. This may
otherwise lead to increased wear and
damage to the major assemblies or the
vehicle.
Aq ualified specialist workshop, e.g. an
authorize dMercedes-Ben zCenter, will reset
the ASSYST PLUS servic einterval display
after the servic ework has been carried out.
You can also obtain further information on
maintenanc ework, for example.
Special service requirements
The specified maintenanc einterval takes only
the normal operation of the vehicle into
account. Under arduous operatin gconditions
or increased load on the vehicle,
maintenanc ework must be carried out more
frequently, for example:
R regular city driving with frequent
intermediate stops
R if the vehicle is primarily used to travel
short distances
R use in mountainous terrain or on poor road
surfaces
R if the engin eisoften left idling for long
periods 310
MaintenanceMaintenance and care
mostly made of anodized aluminum and
can lose their shine if chrome polish is
used .Use ad amp, lint-free cloth instead
when cleaning the trim pieces.
If the chrome-plated trim pieces are very
dirty, you can use achrome polish. If you
are unsure as to whether the trim pieces
are chrome-plated or not, consult an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
X Wipe the wooden trim and trim pieces with
ad amp, lint-free cloth, e.g. amicrofiber
cloth.
X Heavy soiling: use car care and cleaning
products recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
Cleaning the seat covers General notes

Do not use microfiber cloths to clean
genuine leather, artificial leather or
Alcantara® covers. If used often, these can
damage the cover.

Genuin eleather seat covers
Leather is anatural product.
It exhibits natural surface characteristics, for
example:
R Differences in the texture
R Sign sofs tretchin gand marking
R Sligh tnuances of color
Thes eare characteristics of leather and not
material defects. !
To retain th enatural appearanc eofthe
leather ,observ ethe followin gcleaning
instructions:
R Clean genuine leathe rcovers carefully
with adamp cloth and then wipe the
covers down with adry cloth.
R Make sure that the leather does not
become soaked. It may otherwise
become rough and cracked.
R Only use leather care agents that have
been tested and approved by Mercedes-
Benz.Y ou can obtain these from a
qualified specialist workshop.
Seat covers of other materials
! Observe the following when cleaning:
R Clean artificial leather covers with acloth
moistened with asolution containing
1% detergent (e.g. dish washing liquid).
R Clean cloth covers with amicrofiber
cloth moistened with asolution
containing 1% detergent (e.g. dish
washing liquid). Rub carefully and always
wipe entires eat sectionstoavoid leaving
visible lines. Leave the seat to dry
afterwards. Cleaning results depend on
the type of dirt and how long it has been
there.
R Clean Alcantara® covers with adamp
cloth. Make sure that you wipe entire
seat section stoavoid leaving visible
lines.
Cleaning the seat belts G
WARNING
Seat belts can become severely weakened if
bleached or dyed. This could cause the seat
belts to tear or fail, for instance, in the event
of an accident .This poses an increased risk
of injury or fatal injury.
Never bleach or dye the seat belts.
! Do not clean the seat belts using chemical
cleaning agents. Do not dry the seat belts Care

Maximu mload rating
The maximum tir eload is the maximum
permissible weight in kilograms or lbs for
which atireisa pproved.
Maximu mpermissible tir epressure
Maximum permissible tir epressure for one
tire.
Maximu mload on one tire
Maximum load on one tire. This is calculated
by dividin gthe maximum axle load of one axle
by two.
PSI (pounds per squar einch)
As tandar dunitofm easure for tire pressure.
Aspect ratio
Relationship between tire height and tire
width in percent.
Tirep ressure
This is pressure inside the tire applying an
outward forc etoeach square inch of the tire's
surface. The tire pressure is specified in
pounds per square inch (psi), in kilopascal
(kPa) or in bar. The tire pressure should only
be corrected when the tires are cold.
Cold tirep ressure
The tires are cold:
R if the vehicle has been parked without
direct sunlight on the tires for at least three
hours and
R if the vehicle has been driven for less than
1m ile (1.6 km). Tread
The part of the tire that comes intoc
ontact
with the road.
Bead
The tire bead ensures that the tire sits
securely on the wheel. There are several steel
wires in the bead to preven tthe tire from
comin gloose from the wheel rim.
Sidewall
The part of the tire between the tread and the
bead.
Weight of optional extras
The combined weight of those optional extras
that weigh more than the replaced standard
parts and more than 2.3 kilograms (5 lbs).
These optional extras, such as high-
performance brakes, level control, aroof rack
or ah igh-performanc ebattery, are not
included in the curb weight and the weight of
the accessories.
TIN (Tire Identification Number)
This is aunique identifier which can be used
by atire manufacturer to identify tires, for
example for aproduct recall, and thus identify
the purchasers. The TIN is made up of the
manufacturer's identity code, tire size, tire
type code and the manufacturing date.
Load bearing index
The load bearing index (also load index) is a
code that contains the maximum load bearing
capacity of atire.
Traction
Traction is the result of friction between the
tires and the road surface.
Treadwear indicators
Narrow bars (tread wear bars) that are
distributed over the tire tread. If the tire tread
is level with the bars, the wear limit of 0014in
(1.6 mm) has been reached. 356

WARNING
Windshiel dwasher concentrate is highly
flammable. If it comes into contact with hot
engine components or the exhaust syste mit
could ignite. There is ariskoff ire and injury.
Make sure that no windshield washer
concentrate is spilled nex ttothe filler neck.
! Only use washer fluid that is suitable for
plastic lamp lenses, e.g. MB SummerFit or
MB WinterFit. Unsuitable washer fluid
could damage the plastic lenses of the
headlamps.
! Do not add distilled or de-ionized water to
the washer fluid container. Otherwise, the
level sensor may be damaged.
! Only MB SummerFit and MB WinterFit
washer fluid should be mixed together. The
spray nozzles may otherwise become
blocked.
Comply with the importan tsafet ynotes for
servic eproduct swhen handlin gwasher fluid
(Y page 373).
At temperatures abov efreezing:

Service work, such as topping-u prefrigerant
or replacing components, may only be carried
out by aqualified specialist workshop .All
