Useful information
i This Operator's Manual describes all
models and all standard and optional
equipment of your vehicle available at the
time of publication of the Operator's
Manual. Country-specific differences are
possible. Please not ethat your vehicle may
not be equipped with all features
described. This also applies to safety-
related system sand functions.

New and replaced brak epads and disc sonly
reac htheir optimum braking effect after
several hundred kilometers of driving.
Compensate for this by applyin ggreater force
to th ebrak epedal. Th
ef irst 1000miles (1500 km)
The mor eyou look after th eengine when it is
new, th emores atisfied you will be with its
performanc einthefuture.
R You should therefore driv eatvarying
vehicle and engine speed sfor th efirst
1000 miles (1500 km).
R Avoid heavy loads, e.g .driving at full
throttle, during this period.
R Change gearing ood time, before the
tachometer needle is 001Bof the way to the
red area of the tachometer.
R Do not manually shift to alower gear to
brake the vehicle.
R If possible, do not depress the accelerator
pedal past the point of resistance
(kickdown).
R Only select shift ranges 3,2or 1when
driving slowly, e.g. in mountainous terrain. After 1000 miles (1500 km), you can increase
the engine speed graduall
yand accelerate
the vehicle to full speed.
Additional breaking-in notes for AMG
vehicles:
R Do not drive faster than 85 mph
(140 km/h) for the first 1000 miles
(1500 km).
R Only allow the engine to reach amaximum
engine speed of 4500 rpm briefly.
R Change gear in good time.
i You should also observe these notes on
breaking in if the engine or parts of the drive
train on your vehicle have been replaced.
i Always observe the respective speed
limits. AMG vehicles with self-locking rear
axle differential
Your vehicle is equipped with aself-locking
differential on the rear axle. To protec tthe
differential on the rear axle, carry out an oil
change after abreaking-in phase of
2000m iles (3000 km). This oil change
prolongs the servic elife of the differential.
Have the oil change carried out at aqualified
specialist workshop. Driving

Spot Assist (Y page 207) and Lane Keeping
Assist (Y page 209).
Blind Spot Assist General notes
Blind Spot Assist uses
aradar sensor system
to monitor the areas on both sides of your
vehicle. It supports you from aspeed of
approximately 20 mph (30k m/h). Awarning
displa yinthe exterio rmirrors draws your
attention to vehicles detected in the
monitored area. If you the nswitc hont he
correspondin gturns ignal to change lanes,
you will also receive avisual and audible
collision warning. Blin dSpot Assist uses
sensors in the rear bumper for monitoring
purposes. For Blin
dSpot Assist to assist you, the radar
sensor system must be operational.
Important safety notes G
WARNING
Blin dSpot Assist does not reac tto:
R vehicles overtaken too closely on the side,
placin gthemint he blind spot area
R vehicles which approach with alarge speed
differential and overtake your vehicle
As aresult, Blind Spot Assist may not give
warnings in such situations. There is arisk of
an accident.
Always observe the traffic conditions
carefully, and maintain asafe lateral distance.
Blind Spot Assist is only an aid. It may fail to
detect some vehicles and is no substitute for
attentive driving. Always ensure that there is
sufficient distance to the side for other road
users and obstacles.

Active Blind Spot Assist Genera
lnotes
Active Blind Spot Assis tuses aradar sensor
system, pointed toward the rear of the
vehicle, to monitor the area to the sides of the
vehicle which the driver is unable to see. A
warning displayint he exterior mirrors draws
your attention to vehicles detected in the
monitored area. If you then switch on the
corresponding turn signal to change lane, you
will also receive an optical and audible
warning. If arisk of lateral collision is
detected, corrective braking may help you
avoid acollision. Before acourse-correcting
brake application, Active Blind Spot Assist
evaluates the space in the direction of travel
and at the sides of the vehicle. For this, Active
Blind Spot Assist uses radar sensors which
are pointed in the direction of travel.
Active Blind Spot Assist supports you from a
speed of approximately 20 mph (30 km/h).
For Active Blind Spot Assist to assist you
when driving, the radar sensor system must
be:
R activated(Y page 232)
R operational
Important safety notes
Active Blind Spot Assist is only an aid and is
not asubstitute for attentive driving. G
WARNING
Active Blind Spot Assist does not react to:
R vehicles overtaken too closely on the side,
placing them in the blind spot area
R vehicles which approach with alarge speed
differential and overtak eyour vehicle As
aresult, Active Blind Spot Assist may
neither give warnings nor intervene in such
situations. There is arisk of an accident.
Always observe the traffic conditions
carefully, and maintain asafe lateral distance.
