The From Start trip computer is
automatically reset when:
R the ignition has been switched off for more
than four hours.
R 999 hours have been exceeded.
R 9,999 miles have been exceeded. 222

The
From Reset trip computer is
automatically reset if the value exceeds
9,999 hours or 99,99 9miles.

If the ignition remains switched off for longer
than four hours, the ECO display will be
automatically reset.

Displaying the range and current fuel
consumption X
Press the 000Aor0004 button on the
steerin gwheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 0006or0005 button to select the
curren tfuel consumption (not for AMG
vehicles) and the approximate range.
The approximate range that can be covered
depends on the fuel level and your current
driving style. If there is only asmall amount
of fuel left in the fuel tank,t he display shows
av ehicle being refueled 0014instead of the

display" ,the values in the trip computer
"From start "are likewise reset. When you
reset the values in the trip computer "From
start", the values in the "ECO display" are

Displaying navigation instructions In the
Navi menu, the multifunction display
shows navigation instructions. For more
information on navigation ,see the separate
operatin ginstructions.

Deleting all laps
If you switch of
fthe engine, the RACETIMER
is reset to "0" after 30 seconds. All laps are
deleted.
You cannot delete individuals tored laps. If
you have stopped 16 laps, the current lap
does not have to be reset.
X Reset the current lap.
X Press 000Cto confirm Reset .
Reset Race Timer? appears in the
multifunction display.
X Press the 0005button to select Yes and
press the 000Cbutton to confirm.
All laps are deleted.

disconnecting the battery.

X After reconnecting the battery, subtract
the battery disconnection periods fro mthe
service date shown on the display.

Information about Service Resetting the ASSYST PLUS service
interval display

If the ASSYST PLUS service interval
displayh as been inadvertently reset, this
settingc an be corrected at aqualified
specialist workshop.
Have service work carried out as described
in the MaintenanceB ooklet. This may
otherwise lead to increased wear and
damage to the major assemblies or the
vehicle.
Aq ualified specialist workshop, e.g. an
authorize dMercedes-Ben zCenter, will reset
the ASSYST PLUS servic einterval display
after the servic ework has been carried out.
You can also obtain further information on
maintenanc ework, for example.
Special service requirements
The specified maintenanc einterval takes only
the normal operation of the vehicle into
account. Under arduous operatin gconditions
or increased load on the vehicle,
maintenanc ework must be carried out more
frequently, for example:
R regular city driving with frequent
intermediate stops
R if the vehicle is primarily used to travel
short distances
R use in mountainous terrain or on poor road
surfaces
R if the engin eisoften left idling for long
periods 310

The battery and the cover of the positive
terminal clamp must be installed securely
during operation.
Comply with safety precautions and take
protective measures when handling
batteries. Risk of explosion.
Fire, open flames and smokin
gare
prohibited when handling the
battery. Avoid creatin gsparks. Battery acid is caustic. Avoid
contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
Wear suitable protective clothing,
especially gloves, apron and
faceguard.
Rinse any acid spills immediately
with clear water. Contact a
physician if necessary.
Wear eye protection.
Keep children away.
Observe this Operator's Manual.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you only use batteries
which have been tested and approved for
your vehicle by Mercedes-Benz.T hese
batteries provide increased impact
protection to prevent vehicle occupants from
suffering acid burns should the battery be
damaged in the event of an accident.
In order for the battery to achieve the
maximum possible service life, it must always
be sufficiently charged.
The vehicle battery, like other batteries, can
discharge over time if you do not use the
vehicle. In this case, have the battery disconnected at
aqualified specialist
workshop. You can also charge the battery
with acharger recommended by Mercedes-
Benz.C ontactaqualified specialist workshop
for further information.
Have the battery condition of charge checked
more frequently if you use the vehicle mainly
for short trips or if you leave it standin gidle
for alengthy period. Consult aqualified
specialist workshop if you wish to leave your
vehicle parked for along period of time.
i Remove the SmartKey if you park the
vehicle and do not require any electrical
consumers. The vehicle will then use very
little energy, thus conserving battery
power.
i If the power supply has been interrupted,
e.g. if you reconnect the battery, you will
have to:
R set the clock.I nformation on setting the
clock can be found in the separate
operating instructions.
On vehicles with COMAND and a
navigation system, the clock is set
automatically.
R reset the function for folding the exterior
mirrors in/out automatically, by folding
the mirrors out once (Y page 110). Charging the battery

WARNING
During charging and jump-starting, explosive
gases can escape from the battery. There is a
risk of an explosion.
Particularly avoid fire, open flames, creating
sparks and smoking. Ensure there is sufficient
ventilation while charging and jump-starting.
