Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)í
lThe LDWS notifies the driver that the vehicle may be deviating from its lane.lThe system detects the white (yellow) lines on the traffic lane using the Forward
Sensing Camera (FSC) and if it determines that the vehicle may be deviating from its
lane, it notifies the driver by flashing the LDWS indicator light (green) and operating the
LDWS warning sound.
lUse the LDWS when you drive the vehicle on roads with white (yellow) lines.lFor vehicles with type A instrument cluster, check the vehicle condition or have the
vehicle inspected at an Authorized Mazda Dealer according to the indication.
lA system malfunction or operation conditions are indicated by a warning.
Refer to Warning/Indicator Lights on page 4-23.
Refer to Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) Warning Sound on page 7-41.

WARNING
Do not use the LDWS under the following conditions:
The system may not operate adequately according to the actual driving conditions,
resulting in an accident.
ØDriving on roads with tight curves.
ØDriving under bad weather conditions (rain, fog, and snow).
The functions of the LDWS have limitations:
Always stay on course using the steering wheel and drive with care. The system is
not designed to compensate for a driver's lack of caution, and if you rely too much
on the LDWS it could lead to an accident. The driver is responsible for assuring lane
changes and other maneuvers. Always pay attention to the direction in which the
vehicle is traveling and the vehicle's surroundings.

Battery Replacement
If the buttons on the transmitter are
inoperable and the operation indicator
light does not flash, the battery may be
dead.
Replace with a new battery before the
transmitter becomes unusable.
CAUTION
ØMake sure the battery is installed
correctly. Battery leakage could
occur if it is not installed correctly.
ØWhen replacing the battery, be
careful not to touch any of the
internal circuitry and electrical
terminals, bend the electrical
terminals, or get dirt in the
transmitter as the transmitter
could be damaged.
ØThere is the danger of explosion if
the battery is not correctly
replaced.
ØDispose of used batteries
according to the following
instructions.
ØInsulate the plus and minus
terminals of the battery using
cellophane or equivalent tape.
ØNever disassemble.
ØNever throw the battery into
fire or water.
ØNever deform or crush.
ØReplace only with the same type
battery (CR2025 or equivalent).
The following conditions indicate that the
battery power is low:
lThe KEY indicator light (green) flashes
in the instrument cluster for about 30
seconds after the engine is turned off
(for vehicles with a type A meter,
messages are displayed in the
instrument cluster).
lThe system does not operate and the
operation indicator light on the
transmitter does not flash when the
buttons are pressed.
lThe system's operational range is
reduced.
Replacing the battery at an Authorized
Mazda Dealer is recommended to prevent
damage to the key. If replacing the battery
by yourself, follow the instruction below.
Replacing the key battery

Parking in an Emergency
The hazard warning lights should always
be used when you stop on or near a
roadway in an emergency.
The hazard warning lights warn other
drivers that your vehicle is a traffic hazard
and that they must take extreme caution
when near it.
Depress the hazard warning flasher and all
the turn signals will flash. The hazard
warning indicator lights in the instrument
cluster flash simultaneously.
NOTE
lThe turn signals do not work when the
hazard warning lights are on.
lCheck local regulations about the use of
hazard warning lights while the vehicle is
being towed to verify that it is not in
violation of the law.

5. Start the engine of the booster vehicle
and run it a few minutes. Then start the
engine of the other vehicle.
6.(With i-ELOOP system)
“i-ELOOP charging”is displayed in
the multi-display of the instrument
cluster after the engine is started. The
message is no longer displayed when
the engine is running and the charging
is completed. The vehicle may be
driven after the message is no longer
displayed.
NOTE
If the vehicle is driven while the message is
displayed, a beep sound is heard.
If you turn the steering wheel while the
message is displayed, it will feel heavier than
normal, but this does not indicate an
abnormality. The steering operation will return
to normal after the message is no longer
displayed. Do not remove the jumper cables
while the message is displayed.
7. When finished, carefully disconnect the
cables in the reverse order described in
the illustration.
8. If the battery cover has been removed,
install it in the reverse order of
removal.NOTE
Verify that the covers are securely installed.
