Operation of each component
IS300h_EE(OM53C61E)
■Note for the push-start function
●Even when the electronic key is within the effective range (detection areas), the system
may not operate properly when the electronic key is on the instrument panel, rear
package tray or floor, or in the door pockets or glove box when the hybrid system is
started or power switch modes are changed.
●Even if the electronic key is not inside the vehicle, it may be possible to start the hybrid
system if the electronic key is near the window.
■When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods
●Vehicles with entry function: To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic
key within 2 m (6 ft.) of the vehicle.
●The smart entry & start system can be deactivated in advance. (→P. 5 7 3 )
■To operate the system properly
●Make sure to carry the electronic key when operating the system. Do not get the elec-
tronic key too close to the vehicle when operating the system from the outside of the
vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condition of the electronic key, the key may not
be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly. (The alarm may go off
accidentally, or the door lock prevention function may not operate.)
●Do not leave the electronic key inside the luggage compartment.
The key confinement prevention function may not operate, depending on the location
of the key (close to a spare tire [if equipped], the inside edge of the luggage compart-
ment), conditions (inside a metal bag, close to metallic objects) and the radio waves in
the surrounding area. (→P. 1 4 6 )
■If the smart entry & start system does not operate properly
●Locking and unlocking the doors and opening the trunk: Use the mechanical key.
(→P. 544)
●Starting the hybrid system: →P. 5 4 5
■Customization
Settings (e. g. smart entry & start system) can be changed.
(Customizable features: →P. 5 7 3 )
■If the smart entry & start system has been deactivated in a customized setting
●Locking and unlocking the doors and opening the trunk:
Use the wireless remote control or mechanical key. (→P. 136, 144, 544)
●Starting the hybrid system and changing power switch modes: →P. 5 4 5
●Stopping the hybrid system: →P. 2 1 0

2654-5. Using the driving support systems
4
Driving
IS300h_EE(OM53C61E)
●When sunlight or the headlights of oncoming vehicles are shining directly into the cam-
era lens
●When driving on roads that are branching or merging
●When driving on a road surface that is wet due to rain, previous rainfall, standing water,
etc.
●When the vehicle experiences strong up-and-down motion such as when driving on an
extremely rough road or on a seam in the pavement
●When headlight brightness at nighttime is reduced due to dirt on the lenses, or when
the headlights are misaligned
●When driving on winding roads or roads that are uneven
●When driving on rough or unpaved roads
■When changing the tires
Depending on the tires used, sufficient performance may not be maintainable.
■Warning messages for the LDA system
Warning messages are used to indicate a system malfunction or to inform the driver of
the need for caution while driving. (→P. 5 1 4 )
CAUTION
■Before using the LDA system
Do not rely solely on the LDA system. The LDA system does not drive the vehicle auto-
matically, nor does it reduce the amount of care you need to take. As such, the driver
must always assume full responsibility for understanding his/her surroundings, for
operating the steering wheel to correct the driving line, and for driving safely.
Inappropriate or negligent driving could lead to an accident.
■To avoid operating the LDA by mistake
Switch the LDA system off using the LDA switch when not in use.
■Situations unsuitable for LDA system
Do not use the LDA system in any of the following situations.
Otherwise, the system may not function correctly and could result in an accident.
●When driving with tire chains, a spare tire, or similar equipment
●When there are objects or structures along the roadside that might be misinterpreted
as lane markers (such as guardrails, a curb, reflector posts, etc.)
●When driving on snowy roads
●When pavement lane markers are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, sand dust, etc.
●When there are visible lines on the pavement from road repairs, or if the remains of
old lane markers are still visible on the road
●When driving on a road with lane closures due to maintenance, or when driving in a
temporary lane

New tread
Treadwear indicator
Wo r n t r e a d
The location of treadwear indicators is
shown by the “TWI” or “∆” marks, etc.,
molded on the sidewall of each tire.
Check spare tire condition and pressure
if not rotated.
Rotate the tires in the order shown.
To equalize tire wear and help extend tire life, Lexus recommends that tire rota-
tion is carried out approximately every 10000 km (6000 miles).
Do not fail to initialize the tire pressure warning system after tire rotation.
Tires
Replace or rotate tires in accordance with maintenance schedules and tread-
wear.

Maintenance and care

Remove any dirt or foreign matter
from the wheel contact surface.
If foreign matter is on the wheel contact
surface, the wheel nuts may loosen
while the vehicle is in motion, causing
the tire to come off.
Install the spare tire and loosely tighten each wheel nut by hand by approxi-
mately the same amount.
Turn the wheel nuts until the washers
come into contact with the disc
wheel.
Lower the vehicle.
Firmly tighten each wheel nut two or
three times in the order shown in the
illustration.
Tightening torque:

5268-2. Steps to take in an emergency
IS300h_EE(OM53C61E)
●Stop the vehicle in a safe place on a hard, flat surface.
●Set the parking brake.
●Shift the shift lever to P.
●Stop the hybrid system.
●Turn on the emergency flashers. (→P. 4 9 4 )
If you have a flat tire (vehicles without run-flat tires)
Your vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, but instead is equipped with an
emergency tire puncture repair kit.
A puncture caused by a nail or screw passing through the tire tread can be
repaired temporarily with the emergency tire puncture repair kit.
CAUTION
■If you have a flat tire
Do not continue driving with a flat tire.
Driving even a short distance with a flat tire can damage the tire and the wheel beyond
repair, which could result in an accident.

■Run-flat tires (A “RFT” or “DSST” mark is molded on the sidewall)
Take your vehicle to the nearest
Lexus dealer or authorized tire
dealer as soon as possible if any tire
goes flat.
The vehicle can be driven for a maxi-
mum of 300 km (186 miles) at a
speed below 60 km/h (37 mph)
after the tire pressure warning light
comes on. (→P. 505)
■In some conditions (such as at high temperatures)
You cannot continue driving for up to 300 km (186 miles).
■For the detailed information on run-flat tires
See the tire warranty booklet.
If you have a flat tire (vehicles with run-flat tires)
Your vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, but instead you can continue
driving the vehicle with run-flat tires even if any tire goes flat.In this case, slow
down and drive with extra caution.
NOTICE
■When replacing the tires
When removing or fitting the wheels, tires or the tire pressure warning valve and trans-
mitter, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional as the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter may be dam-
aged if not handled correctly.
■When driving over bumps
If a vehicle has a flat tire, the vehicle height will be lower than usual. Ensure that nothing
strikes the bottom of the vehicle.
■To avoid damage to the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
When a tire is repaired with liquid sealants, the tire pressure warning valve and trans-
mitter may not operate properly. If a liquid sealant is used, contact any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional or other
qualified service shop as soon as possible. Make sure to replace the tire pressure warn-
ing valve and transmitter when replacing the tire. (→P. 4 5 1 )
