For safety and security
Exhaust gas precautions
Harmful substance to the human body is included in exhaust gases if
inhaled.
CAUTION
Exhaust gases include harmful carbon mono xide (CO), which is colorless and odor-
less. Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause exhaust gases enter the vehicle and may lead to an acci-
dent caused by light-headedness, or may lead to death or a serious health hazard.
■Important points while driving
●Keep the trunk lid closed.
●If you smell exhaust gases in the vehicle even when the trunk lid is closed, open
the windows and have the vehicle inspected at your Lexus dealer as soon as pos-
sible.
■When parking
●If the vehicle is in a poorly ventilated area or a closed area, such as a garage, stop
the engine .
●Do not leave the vehicle with the engine running for a
long time.
If such a situation cannot be avoided, park the vehicle in an open space and
ensure that exhaust fumes do not enter the vehicle interior.
●Do not leave the engine running in an area with snow
build-up, or where it is snowing. If sn owbanks build up around the vehicle while
the engine is running , exhaust gases may collect and
enter the vehicle.
■Exhaust pipe
The exhaust system needs to be checked periodically. If there is a hole or crack
caused by corrosion, damage to a joint or abnormal exhaust noise, be sure to have
the vehicle inspected and repaired by your Lexus dealer.

*1: These lights turn on when the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch isturned to IGNITION ON mode to indicate that a system check is being
performed. They will turn off after the engi ne is on, or after a few
seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if the lights do not turn on, or
turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
*2: The light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*3: The light turns on when the system is turn ed off. The light flashes quickly to indi-
cate that the system is operating.
*4: In order to confirm operation, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators illumi-
nate in the following situations:
• When the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch is turned to IGNI- TION ON mode while the BSM main switch is set to ON.
• When the BSM main switch is set to ON while the “START STOP ENGINE”
<“POWER”> switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
If the system is functioning correctly, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators
will turn off after a few seconds.
If the BSM outside rear view mirror indicato rs do not illuminate or do not turn off,
there may be a malfunction with the system. If this occurs, have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer.
CAUTION
■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning light not come on
when you start the engine , this could mean that these systems are
not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death or seri-
ous injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately if this
occurs.

■System check display
After turning the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch to IGNITION ON
mode, “SYSTEM CHECK” is displayed while system operation is checked.
■Eco Driving Indicator (gasoline vehicles)
Zone of Eco driving
Eco driving ratio based on acceleration
If the acceleration exceeds Zone of Eco dr iving, the right side of Eco Driving Indi-
cator Zone Display blinks.
Eco Driving Indicator will not oper ate in the following conditions:
●The shift lever is anything other than D.
●Neither normal mode nor Eco drive mode is selected. ( P. 3 0 0 )
●The vehicle speed is approximatel y 80 mph (130 km/h) or higher.
■Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be displayed, or
the display may take longer than normal to change.
●When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 12 mph [20 km/h])
●When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit of a
garage, tunnel, etc.)
Suggests Zone of Eco driving and Eco driving
ratio based on acceleration.
Eco Driving Indicator Light
Eco Driving Indicator Light availability can
be customized. The default setting is off.

During Eco-friendly acceleration (Eco driv-
ing), Eco Driving Indicator Light will turn
on.
When the acceleration exceeds Zone of
Eco driving, or when the vehicle is stopped,
the light turns off.

3-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors and trunk
CAUTION
■Trunk easy closer (vehicles with power trunk opener and closer)
■Power trunk opener and closer (if equipped)
Observe the following precautions when operating the power trunk opener and
closer.
Failure to do so may cause serious injury.
●Check the safety of the surrounding area to make sure there are no obstacles or
anything that could cause any of your belongings to get caught.
●If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the
trunk is about to open or close.
●If the trunk closer switch is pressed while the trunk lid is opening during automatic
operation, the trunk lid stops opening. Take extra care when on an incline, as the
trunk lid may open or close suddenly.
●On an incline, the trunk lid may fall afte r it opens automatically. Make sure the
trunk lid is fully open and secure before using the trunk.
●In the following situations, the power trunk opener and closer may detect an
abnormality and automatic operation may be stopped. In this case, the trunk lid
has to be operated manually. Take extra care in this situation, as the stopped trunk
lid may suddenly fall, causing an accident.
• When the trunk lid contacts an obstacle
• When the 12-volt battery voltage suddenly drops, such as when the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch is turned to IGNITION ON
mode or the engine is started during automatic operation
●Do not attach any accessories other than genuine Lexus parts to the trunk lid. The
power trunk opener and closer may not op erate, causing itself to malfunction, or
the trunk lid may fall closed again after it is opened.
In the event that the trunk lid is left slightly
open, the trunk easy closer will automatically
close it to the fully closed position. It takes
several seconds before the trunk easy closer
begins to operate. Be careful not to catch fin-
gers or anything else in the trunk lid, as this
may cause bone fractures or other serious
injuries.

Operation of each component
■Operating the driving position memory after turning the “START STOP ENGINE”
<“POWER”> switch off
Driver’s seat:
Recorded seat positions can be activated up to 180 seconds after the driver’s door is
opened and another 60 seconds after it is closed again.
Front passenger’s seat:
Recorded seat positions can be activated up to 180 seconds after the front passen-
ger’s door is opened.
■In order to correctly use the driving position memory function
If a seat position is already in the furthest possible position and the seat is operated in
the same direction, the recorded position ma y be slightly different when it is recalled.
Each electronic key can be registered to recall your preferred driving
position.
■Registering procedure
Record your driving position to button “1”, “2” or “3” before performing
the following:
Carry only the key you want to regis ter, and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be
recorded properly.
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the “START STOP ENGINE ” <“POWER”> switch to IGNI-
TION ON mode.
Recall the driving position th at you want to record.
