Degraded engine oil should be replaced as
soon as possible after the warning light comes
on, and never more than 500 km after it first
comes on. Failure to observe the above indications
may result in severe damage to the engine and in-
validate the warranty. Remember that when the
warning light comes on, it does not mean that the
level of engine oil is low, so if the light flashes you
definitely do not need to top up the engine oil.
“Dualdrive” electric power steerin g
failure (red)
This warning light switches on when the igni-
tion key is turned to MAR, but it should switch off
after a few s econds.
The electric power steering system will not work when the
warning light i s on and cons iderably more effort is needed
on the s teering wheel. The car can still be s teered. In this
cas e, go to a Lancia Dealer ship. The dis play will s how the

The warning light will turn on fla shing together with the
message on the di splay (for vers ions/markets where pro-

– cy cles of 3 minutes with intervals with the warning light
off for 5 s econds until the oil is changed.
After the firs t indication, at each engine s tart up the warn-
ing light will continue flas hing as described above until
the oil is changed. The dis play (for vers ions/markets ,
where provided), s hows a dedicated message together with
the warning light.
The flas hing of the warning light s hould not be consid-
er
ed as a fault, it s imply informs the customer that the
oil needs to be changed following normal car u se.
Remember that the deterioration of the engine oil i s accel-
erated by :
– mainly town use of the car which make s the DPF re-
generation proce ss more frequent
– us e of the vehicle for s hort drives, in which the engine
does not have time to reach its regular operating tem-
perature
– repeated interruption of the regeneration proce ss, sig-
nalled by the DPF warning light switching on.

LIGHT BEAM ALIGNMENT
The correct aiming of the headlights i s important for the
comfort and s afety of not only the driver but all other road
u sers . This is als o covered by a specific rule of the high-
way code.
The headlights must be correctly aimed to guarantee the
bes t vis ibility conditions for all drivers while travelling
with headlights on.
Contact a Lancia Dealer ship to have the headlight s prop-
erly adjus ted.
Check beam alignment every time the load or its distrib-
ution changes .
ANGLE COMPENS ATION fig .69
The car is fitted with an electric headlight alignment sys-
tem. This system i s operational with the ignition key
turned to MAR and the dipped beam headlight s on.
When the car is loaded, it slopes backward s. This mean s
the headlight beam ri se s.
In this case, it is necessary to adjust the beams using but-
tons A and B.
The dis play pr

orrect positions dependin g on the load
Pos ition 0 - one or two people in the front seats .

STARTING AND DRIVING
USING THE GEARBOX To engage the gears, press the clutch pedal fully and shift
the gear lever into the required position (the gear diagram
varies according to the different versions and is shown
on the knob or on the plate below the lever fig. 2).
To engage 6
thgear, operate the lever by pressing it towards
the right in order to avoid engaging 4
thgear by mistake.
The same goes for changing from 6
thto 5
th.
IMPORTANT The car can only be put into reverse gear
when it has stopped moving completely. With the engine
running, wait at least 2 seconds before engaging reverse
gear with the clutch pedal fully depress in order to avoid
damaging or grinding the gears.
fig. 2
L0E0073m
To engage reverse gear R from neutral, raise sliding ring
A under the knob and at the same time move the gear lever
to the left and then forwards.
To engage reverse R from neutral, lift the sliding ring A
under the knob and move the gear lever to the right and
then backwards.
IMPORTANT The clutch pedal should be used only to
change gear. Do not drive with your foot resting on the
clutch pedal, however lightly. For versions/markets where
provided, the electronic clutch pedal control could cut in,
interpreting the incorrect driving style as a fault.
Press the clutch pedal fully to change gears
correctly. Therefore, the floor area under the
pedal unit should be clear: ensure that any
mats are flat and do not interfere with the pedals.Do not drive with your hand resting on the
gear lever, because this pressure, even if light,
can wear out the internal components of the
gearbox over time.
