HEAD RESTRAINTS
Head restraints are height adju stable; operate a s follows .
❍ Upwards adjustment: lift the head res traint until it
locks .
❍ Downward adjus tment, press the button A and lower
the head res traint.

To extract the rear head re straints press button s B and C
at the s ide of the two supports s imultaneous ly and lift them
out upward s.
IMPORTANT When the rear s eats are in us e, the head
re straints must always be in the pos ition of use.
All adjustments must be carried out only with
the vehicle stationary and engine off. Head
restraints must be adjusted so that the head,
rather than the neck, rests on them. Only in this case
can they protect your head correctly. To make the
best use of the head restraint’s protective action, ad-
just the backrest so that your torso is upright and
keep your head as close as possible to the head re-
straint.

Depending on the vers ions, rear head res traints can be
“fixed” or height-adju stable ty pe.
Height-adjustable head restraint:
❍ Upwards adjustment: press button B and lift the head
re straint until it locks .
❍ Downward adjus tment, press button B and lower the
head res traint.

STEERING WHEEL
It can be adjusted vertically (and axially).
To adjust the steering wheel, move the lever fig. 25 up-
wards to pos ition 1. Adjus t the steering wheel into the mos t
s uitable pos ition and lock it in this position by moving the
lever to po sition 2.
REAR VIEW MIRRORS

The mirror is fitted with a s afety device that caus es its
releas e in the event of a violent impact with the passen-
ger.
Lever A can be us ed to move the mirror to two different
pos itions : normal or antiglare.
INTERNAL ELEC TROCHROMIC REAR VIEW
MIRROR (for versions/markets , where provided)
S ome vers ions have an electrochromic mirror with auto-
matic antiglare function.
When revers e gear is engaged, the mirror i s automatical-
l y s et for day time use.
Any adjustments must be carried out only
with the car stationary and engine off.

For versions/markets , where provided the roof light, some
bulbs light the car interior when the main beam headlight s
or dipped beam headlight s are on.
IMPORTANT The roof light, for some vers ions, may also
be in a rear central pos ition (electric sun roof vers ion).
IMPORTANT Before getting out of the car, make sure both
s witches are in the middle po sition; when the door s are
clos ed, the lights s witch off preventing a possible dis charge
of the battery . In any case, if the s witch is left in on pos i-
tion, the roof light s witches off automaticall y 15 minutes
after the engine s witching off.
Roof lig ht timing
To make getting in and out the vehicle eas ier, especially
at night time or in poorl y lit areas, two timing logic are
available.
Timing while getting into the vehicle
The roof lights s witch on according to the following mode s:
❍ for ar
ound 10 s econds when the front door s are un-
locked;
❍ for about 3 minutes when one of the side doors is
opened;
❍ for about 10 seconds when the door s are clos ed.
The timed period is interrupted when the ignition i s turned
to “MAR”. Timing while getting out of the vehicle
After removing the key
from the ignition, the roof light s
s witch on according to the following mode s:
❍ within 2 minutes of the engine being switched off for
a period of about 10 seconds ;
❍ when one of the side doors is opened for a period of
about 3 minute s;
❍ when one of the door s i s clos ed for a period of about
10 seconds .
❍ if the fuel cut off s witch operates, they remain on for
about 15 minute s, then they s witch off automatically .
Door locking s witches the lights off immediately (unless
the fuel cut-off s witch is operating).

FUEL CUT-OFF SYSTEM
This intervenes in the case of an impact cau sing:
❍ cut off of fuel s upply with res ultant engine s hut down;
❍ automatic door lock relea se;
❍ activation of all light s ins ide the car.
The intervention of the system is indicated by a message
s hown on the di splay .
Carefully check the car for fuel leaks , for instance in the
engine compartment, under the car or near the tank area.
Following a collis ion, turn the ignition ke y to S TOP to
avoid draining the batter y. To r e
store correct car operation, follow thi s procedure:
❍ turn the ignition ke y to MAR;
❍ activate the right hand indicator;
❍ deactivate the right hand indicator;
❍ activate the left hand indicator;
❍ deactivate the left hand indicator;
❍ activate the right hand indicator;
❍ deactivate the right hand indicator;
❍ activate the left hand indicator;
❍ deactivate the left hand indicator;
❍ turn the key to STOP;
❍ turn the ignition ke y to MAR.
If, after a crash, you smell fuel or notice leaks
from the fuel supply system, do not reset the
system to avoid the risk of fire.

INITIALISATION PROC EDURE
After the battery has been dis connected or a fu se has blown,
the operation of the s un roof must be initialised again.
Proceed as follows:
❍ press button A - fig. 53 until the s un roof is complete-
l y clos ed. Releas e the button;
❍ press and hold down button A for at lea st 10 s econds
and/or until the glass panel moves forwards by one
click. Releas e the button at this point;
❍ press button A within 5 seconds of this operation and
keep it pressed: the glass panel will complete a full
opening and clo sing cy cle. Releas e the button only at
the end of this cycle. EMERGENC
Y MANOEUVRE
If the s witch doe s not work, the s un r
oof can be operated
manually as follows :
❍ remove protective cap A - fig. 54 on the rear part of
the internal cover;
❍ take the Allen ke y provided from the container with
the on-board documentation or from the luggage com-
partment (ver sions with Fix&G o automatic);
❍ fit the key into seat B and turn it:
– clockwis e to open the s unroof;
– anticlockwis e to close the roof.

Door release
To releas e all doors : turn the ke y to pos ition 1. Pull up the
a ssociated handle to open the door. Pre ss button Ëon the
remote control to unlock the door s.
Before opening a door, ensure that you can do
it in conditions of safety. Open the doors on-
ly when the car is stationary.

Door lock
To lock all doors : turn the key to position 2 with doors ful-
l y clos ed.
Press button Á on the remote control to lock the door s. If
one of the door s i s not s hut properly , simultaneous lock-
ing is disabled.
IMPORTANT If one of the doors is not properly closed
or if there is a fault in the system, the central locking will
not engage. If the operation i s repeated 10/11 time s in
quick succession, the device is excluded for approximate-
l y 30 s econds .

electrical system ha s failed, it is s till possible to lock the
doors manually .

CHILD LOC K SY STEM B - fig . 57
This system prevent s the rear doors from being opened
from the ins ide.
This device can onl y be engaged with the door s open:
❍ pos ition 1 - device engaged (door locked);
❍ pos ition 2 - di sengaged (door can be opened from in-
s ide).
The device remain s engaged even if the door s are unlocked
remotely .
IMPORTANT The rear door s cannot be opened from the
ins ide when the child lock system is engaged.
After engaging the child lock on both rear
doors, check for proper engagement by try-
ing to open a rear door with the internal
handle.
Always use this device when carrying chil-
dren.

The door lock knob can be realigned (only when the bat-
tery charge has been restored) as follows:
❍ press button
Ëon the key ;
❍ press door lock/relea se button
≈in the das hboard;
❍ open a front door by inserting the key into the key
pawl;
❍ operate the internal door handle.

The passenger side front door and the rear door s have a
device to lock them when there i s no power.
Proceed as follows:
❍ engage the metal in sert of the starting key in position
A - fig. 57 (rear door s) or A - fig. 58 (front pa ssenger
s ide door);
❍ turn the key counter-clockwis e and then remove it from
pos ition A - fig. 57 or A - fig. 58.
