your Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) . For all
other information not specific to the hybrid
electric system, please refer to your Own-
er’s Manual.
Welcome to the growing family of new INFINITI
owners. This vehicle is delivered to you with
confidence. It was produced using the latest
techniques and strict quality control.
This manual was prepared to help you under-
stand the operation and maintenance of your
vehicle so that you may enjoy many miles (kilome-
ters) of driving pleasure. Please read through this
manual before operating your vehicle.
A separate Warranty Information Booklet
explains details about the warranties cov-
ering your vehicle. The “Warranty Informa-
tion and Maintenance Booklet” explains
details about maintaining and servicing
your vehicle.
Your INFINITI retailer knows your vehicle best.
When you require any service or have any ques-
tions, they will be glad to assist you with the
extensive resources available to them.In addition to factory installed options, your ve-
hicle may also be equipped with additional ac-
cessories installed by INFINITI or by your INFINITI
retailer prior to delivery. It is important that you
familiarize yourself with all disclosures, warnings,
cautions and instructions concerning proper use
of such accessories prior to operating the vehicle
and/or accessory. See an INFINITI retailer for
details concerning the particular accessories
with which your vehicle is equipped.
Before driving your vehicle, please read this
Owner’s Manual carefully. This will ensure famil-
iarity with controls and maintenance require-
ments, assisting you in the safe operation of your
vehicle.

The emergency shut-off system is activated and
the high-voltage system automatically turns off in
the following conditions:● Front and side collisions in which the air
bags are deployed.
● Certain rear collisions.
● Certain INFINITI Direct Response Hybrid®
System malfunctions
For the above collisions and the certain hybrid
system malfunctions, the READY to drive indica-
tor light will turn off. See “Warning/indicator
lights and audible reminders” in the “Instruments
and controls”.
The emergency shut-off activates for the above
collisions to minimize risk of an event that could
cause injury or an accident. If the emergency
shut-off system activates, the hybrid system may
not switch to READY to drive position, contact an
INFINITI retailer. Even if the ignition switch is
switched to READY to drive position, the system
may shut off suddenly. Therefore, drive cautiously
to the nearest INFINITI retailer or contact an
INFINITI retailer as soon as possible. To start the INFINITI Direct Response Hybrid®
System, depress the brake pedal and place the
ignition switch in the ON position when the trans-
mission is in the P (Park) position or N (Neutral)
position (P is recommended) .
The READY to drive indicator light
flashes
until hybrid system becomes the ready to drive
mode.
If starting in low temperature environment, flash-
ing time of READY lamp becomes longer. It can-
not move out from P range during flashing.
When the READY to drive indicator light
illuminates, the vehicle can be driven, even if the
gasoline engine is not running.
NOTE:
The gasoline engine starts and stops auto-
matically. It may stop during deceleration
or when the vehicle is stopped.
The gasoline engine may automatically run in the
following conditions:
● The level of remaining charge in the Li-ion
battery is low. The engine runs to charge the
Li-ion battery and to provide power to drive
the vehicle.
● The temperature of the engine coolant is
low. ●
When A/C is used.
● When opening door.
● When engine hood is opened.
● When applying brakes.
● Based on driving conditions.
● The shift lever is shifted to the P (Park)
position, the driver’s seat belt is released
and the driver’s side door is then opened.
The hybrid system operates as follows based on
driving conditions and the Li-ion battery charge.
Engine is hard to stop during these driving con-
ditions: ● Outside temperature is high/low and A/C is
on.
● When repeatedly starting and stopping the
engine.
STARTING AND SLOW SPEED
DRIVING
In some cases, the vehicle can be driven by
electric motor during extremely slow speed
creep, but the engine starts when accelerating or
taking off the brakes.

FRONT POWER SEAT ADJUSTMENT
(if so equipped)
Do not operate the power seat switch for a long
period of time when the hybrid system is not
running. This will discharge the 12–volt battery.
See “Automatic drive positioner” in “Pre-driving
checks and adjustments” for automatic drive po-
sitioner operation.
FLEXIBLE SEATING
WARNING
●Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo
area or on the rear seats when they are
in the fold-down position. In a collision,
people riding in these areas without
proper restraints are more likely to be
seriously injured or killed.
● Do not allow people to ride in any area
of your vehicle that is not equipped with
seats and seat belts. Be sure everyone
in your vehicle is in a seat and using a
seat belt properly.
● Do not fold down the rear seats when
occupants are in the rear seat area or
any luggage is on the rear seats. ●
Head restraints/headrests should be
adjusted properly as they may provide
significant protection against injury in
an accident. Always replace and adjust
them properly if they have been re-
moved for any reason.
● If the head restraints/headrests are re-
moved for any reason, they should be
securely stored to prevent them from
causing injury to passengers or damage
to the vehicle in case of sudden braking
or an accident.
● When returning the seatbacks to the
upright position, be certain they are
completely secured in the latched posi-
tion. If they are not completely secured,
passengers may be injured in an acci-
dent or sudden stop.
● Properly secure all cargo to help pre-
vent it from sliding or shifting. Do not
place cargo higher than the seatbacks.
In a sudden stop or collision, unsecured
cargo could cause personal injury.
Folding the 3rd row seats
To fold the 3rd row seats flat for maximum cargo
capacity:
1. Pull the strap
1to release the head
restraint/headrest forward.
2. Stow the 3rd row seat belts in the seat belt hooks
4found on the sides of the cargo
area.
3. Pull up on the latch
2located in the upper
corner of each seatback and lower the seat-
back forward over the seat base.

To return the 3rd row seats to a seating position:1. Use the pull straps
3to raise each seat-
back. Pull back until the seatback latches
into position. Make sure to properly raise
each seatback to an upright and se-
cured position.
2. Do not use the pull strap to return the head restraint/headrest to the upright position.
Pull back on the head restraint/headrest until
it latches in the upright position.
WARNING
When the seat is returned to the normal
seating position, the head
restraints/headrests must be returned to
the upright position to properly protect
vehicle occupants.
