CAUTION
. Automatic transmission models cannot
be push-started or tow-started. Attempt-
ing to do so may cause transmission
damage.
. Three way catalyst equipped models
should not be started by pushing since
the three way catalyst may be damaged.
. Never try to start the vehicle by towing
it; when the engine starts, the forward
surge could cause the vehicle to collide
with the tow vehicle.

Y51D-V-E01-7FD19792-7E5A-41B4-A8FD-4D1A4B9EB1E8When towing your vehicle, all State (Pro-
vincial in Canada) and local regulations for
towing must be followed. Incorrect towing
equipment could damage your vehicle.
Towing instructions are available from an
INFINITI retailer. Local service operators are
familiar with the applicable laws and
procedures for towing. To assure proper
towing and to prevent accidental damage
to your vehicle, INFINITI recommends that
you have a service operator tow your
vehicle. It is advisable to have the service
operator carefully read the following pre-
cautions.
WARNING
.Never ride in a vehicle that is being
towed.
. Never get under your vehicle after it has
been lifted by a tow truck.
CAUTION
.When towing, make sure that the trans-
mission, axles, steering system and
powertrain are in working condition. If
any unit is damaged, dollies must be used.
. Always attach safety chains before tow-
ing.

Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) modelsY51D-V-E01-9E0EF578-3514-4B10-979D-D236953F941AINFINITI recommends that your vehicle be
towed with the driving (rear) wheels off the
ground or place the vehicle on a flat bed
truck as illustrated.
CAUTION
.Never tow automatic transmission mod-
els with the rear wheels on the ground
or four wheels on the ground (forward or
backward), as this may cause serious and expensive damage to the transmis-
sion. If it is necessary to tow the vehicle
with the front wheels raised, always use
towing dollies under the rear wheels.
. When towing rear wheel drive models
with the front wheels on the ground or
on towing dollies: Push the ignition
switch to the ACC or ON position, and
secure the steering wheel in a straight-
ahead position with a rope or similar
device. For models with a steering wheel
lock mechanism: Never secure the steer-
ing wheel by selecting the LOCK posi- tion. This may damage the steering lock
mechanism.

vehicle)
Y51D-V-E01-59A30A56-ED09-42A6-BC18-EAAD249D68F3
WARNING
.Stand clear of a stuck vehicle.
. Do not spin your tires at high speed. This
could cause them to explode and result
in serious injury. Parts of your vehicle
could also overheat and be damaged.
Pulling a stuck vehicleY51D-V-E01-AA23FB04-DB3B-4AFF-AB0F-3B490D39D22BIf your vehicle is stuck in sand, snow, mud,
etc., use a tow strap or other device
designed specifically for vehicle recovery.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instruc-
tions for the recovery device.
Front:
GUID-CA441E56-2FD0-4540-A74C-DB510E9F7AE01. Remove the cover with a suitable tool.

secured in the original place after use. Rear:
GUID-CA441E56-2FD0-4540-A74C-DB510E9F7AE0Do not use the tie down hook*2for
towing or vehicle recovery.
CAUTION
. Tow chains or cables must be attached
only to the vehicle recovery hooks or
main structural members of the vehicle.
Otherwise, the vehicle body will be
damaged.
. Do not use the vehicle tie downs to free
a vehicle stuck in sand, snow, mud, etc.
. Never tow a vehicle using the vehicle tie
downs or recovery hooks.
. Always pull the cable straight out from
the front of the vehicle. Never pull on the
vehicle at an angle.
. Pulling devices should be routed so they
do not touch any part of the suspension,
steering, brake or cooling systems.
. Pulling devices such as ropes or canvas
straps are not recommended for use in
vehicle towing or recovery.
Rocking a stuck vehicleY51D-V-E01-F72ACA55-5696-41CC-8BC5-2F62ECE3C3B9If your vehicle is stuck in sand, snow, mud,
etc., use the following procedure:
1. Turn off the Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) system.
2. Make sure the area in front and behind the vehicle is clear of obstructions.
3. Turn the steering wheel right and left to clear an area around the front tires.
4. Slowly rock the vehicle forward and backward.
.Shift back and forth between R
(Reverse) and D (Drive).
.Apply the accelerator as little aspossible to maintain the rocking
motion.
.Release the accelerator pedal beforeshifting between R and D.
.Do not spin the tires above 35 MPH(55 km/h).
5. If the vehicle cannot be freed after a few tries, contact a professional towing
service to remove the vehicle.

. Rinse the wheel to completely remove
the cleaner within 15 minutes after the
cleaner is applied.
CHROME PARTSY51D-V-E01-0094087B-0A17-4FF2-9C41-F31A14D3D6BCClean chrome parts regularly with a non-
abrasive chrome polish to maintain the
finish.
TIRE DRESSINGY51D-V-E01-049714D9-BD47-419F-9036-9C9F29D765E3INFINITI does not recommend the use of
tire dressings. Tire manufacturers apply a
coating to the tires to help reduce dis-
coloration of the rubber. If a tire dressing is
applied to the tires, it may react with the
coating and form a compound. This com-
pound may come off the tire while driving
and stain the vehicle paint.
If you choose to use a tire dressing, take
the following precautions:
.Use a water-based tire dressing. The
coating on the tire dissolves more
easily with an oil-based tire dressing.
. Apply a light coat of tire dressing to
help prevent it from entering the tire
tread/grooves (where it would be diffi-
cult to remove). .
Wipe off excess tire dressing using a
dry towel. Make sure the tire dressing
is completely removed from the tire
tread/grooves.
. Allow the tire dressing to dry as
recommended by tire dressing manu-
facturer.
Y51D-V-E01-5EAC8407-7781-4E05-920D-B9F833E99438Occasionally remove loose dust from the
interior trim, plastic parts and seats using
a vacuum cleaner or soft bristled brush.
Wipe the vinyl and leather surfaces with a
clean, soft cloth dampened in mild soap
solution, then wipe clean with a dry soft
cloth.
Regular care and cleaning is required in
order to maintain the appearance of the
leather.
Before using any fabric protector, read the
manufacturer’s recommendations. Some
fabric protectors contain chemicals that
may stain or bleach the seat material.
Use a cloth dampened only with water, to
clean the meter and gauge lens.
WARNING
Do not use water or acidic cleaners (hot
steam cleaners) on the seat. This can
damage the seat or occupant classification
sensors. This can also affect the operation
of the air bag system and result in serious
personal injury.
CLEANING INTERIOR
Condition:
Black plate (433,1)
[ Edit: 2013/ 10/ 21 Model: Y51-D ]
CAUTION
.Never use benzine, thinner, or any
similar material.
. For cleaning, use a soft cloth, dampened
with water. Never use a rough cloth,
alcohol, benzine, thinner or any kind of
solvent or paper towel with a chemical
cleaning agent. They will scratch or
cause discoloration to the lens.
. Do not spray any liquid such as water on
the meter lens. Spraying liquid may
cause the system to malfunction.
. Small dirt particles can be abrasive and
damaging to the leather surfaces and
should be removed promptly. Do not use
saddle soap, car waxes, polishes, oils,
cleaning fluids, solvents, detergents or
ammonia-based cleaners as they may
damage the leather’s natural finish.
. Only use fabric protectors approved by
INFINITI.
. Do not use glass or plastic cleaner on
meter or gauge lens covers. It may
damage the lens cover.
AIR FRESHENERSY51D-V-E01-6145786E-8E5A-423A-A3C5-028C5AD788FFMost air fresheners use a solvent that
could affect the vehicle interior. If you use
an air freshener, take the following pre-
cautions:
.Hanging-type air fresheners can cause
permanent discoloration when they
contact vehicle interior surfaces. Place
the air freshener in a location that
allows it to hang free and not contact
an interior surface.
. Liquid-type air fresheners typically clip
on the vents. These products can cause
immediate damage and discoloration
when spilled on interior surfaces.
Carefully read and follow the manufac-
turer’s instructions before using air fresh-
eners.
MOONROOF SUNSHADEY51D-V-E01-299A0628-F514-44B1-8BF0-28E35F8D687BThe moonroof sunshade is made from a
suede material.
Clean the sunshade material as follows:
CAUTION
To help prevent damaging the sunshade
while cleaning: .
Do not rub the material with a cloth.
Doing so can damage the surface of the
material or cause a stain to spread.
. Never use benzine, thinner or any similar
chemical to clean the suede. This may
discolor the sunshade and damage the
surface.
. Clean water based stains by patting the
surface with a clean soft cloth dampened
in warm water. Press a clean dry cloth
onto the surface to remove as much
dampness as possible and then let air
dry.
. Clean oil based stains by patting the
surface with a clean soft cloth dampened
in warm water. Press a clean dry cloth
onto the surface to remove as much
dampness as possible and then let air
dry.
