Airbag Care
You do not need to, and should not, perform any maintenance on or replace any
airbag system components yourself. However, you should have your vehicle
inspected by a dealer in the following situations:
■When the airbags have deployed
If an airbag has inflated, the control unit an
d other related parts must be replaced.
Similarly, once an automatic seat belt te nsioner has been activated, it must be
replaced.
■When the vehicle has been in a moderate-to-severe collision
Even if the airbags did not infl ate, have your
dealer inspect the following: the driver’s
seat position sensor, weight sensors in the passenger’s seat, front seat belt
tensioners, and each seat belt that was worn during the crash.
■Do not remove or modi fy a front seat without consulting a dealer
This would likely disable the driver's seat p
osition sensor or the passenger’s weight
sensors. If it is necessary to remove or modify a front seat to accommodate a person
with disabilities, contact a Honda dealer , or for U.S. vehicles, American Honda
Automobile Customer Service at 800-99 9-1009 and for Canadian vehicles, Honda
Canada Customer Relations at 888-9-HONDA-9.

Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate *
The power tailgate can be operated by pressing the power tailgate button on the
remote transmitter, pressing the power tailgate button on the driver's door, or
pressing the button on the tailgate.
■The power tailgate can be opened when:
• The tailgat
e and glass hatch are fully closed.
• The
shift lever is in (P
.
• The
key is not in the ignition switch when using the remote transmitter.
• You
have changed the PTG KEYLESS OPEN MODE setting to WHEN
UNLOCKED, you need to unlock the tailgate before you press the tailgate button
to open it.

■The power tailgate can be closed when:
• The tailgat
e is fully open.
• The
key is not in the ignition switch when using the remote transmitter.
1Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate *
The power tailgate may not open or close under the
following conditions:
•The vehicle is park ed on a steep hill.
•The vehicle is swayed in a strong wind.•The tailgate or the roof is covered with snow or ice.
If you close the power tail gate when all the doors are
locked, the power tailgate locks automatically.
If you replace the battery or the power tailgate fuse
while the tailgate is open, the power tailgate may be
disabled. The power tail gate resumes once you
manually close the tailgate.
Installing aftermarket components other than
genuine Honda a ccessories on the power tailgate
may prevent it from fully opening or closing.
Make sure the power tailgate is fully open before you
get your luggage in and out.
Make sure the power tailgate is fully closed before
you start the vehicle.

The security system alarm automatically s
ets when the following conditions have

oors, the tailgate, and the glass hatc h are locked with the key or the remote
transmitter.
■When the security system alarm sets
The security system alarm indicator in
the instrument panel blinks. When the
blinking interval changes after about 15 se conds, the security system alarm is set.
■To cancel the security system alarm
The security system alarm is canceled when the
vehicle is unlocked using the key or
remote transmitter. The security system al arm indicator goes off at the same time.
■The PANIC button on the remote
transmitter
If you press the PA

approximately one second, the following will
occur for about 30 seconds:

1Security System Alarm *
Do not set the security system alarm when someone
is in the vehicle or a window is open. The system can
accidentally activate when:
•Unlocking the door with th e lock tab or the master
door lock switch.
If the battery goes dead after you have set the
security system alarm, the security alarm may go off
once the battery is re charged or replaced.
If this occurs, deactivate the security system alarm by
unlocking a door using the ke y or remote transmitter.
Do not attempt to alter th is system or add another
device to it.

Head restraints can be removed for cleaning or repair.
To remove a head restraint:
Pull the restraint up as far as it will go. T
hen push the release button, and pull the
restraint up and out.
To reinstall a head restraint:
Insert the legs back in place, then adjust the head restraint to an a
ppropriate height
while pressing the release button. Pull up on the restraint to make sure it is locked
in position.
After all occupants have adjusted their seats and head restraints, and put on their
seat
belts, it is very important that they continue to sit upright, well back in their
seats, with their feet on the floor, until the vehicle is safely parked and the engine is
off.
Sitting improperly can increase the chance of injury during a crash. For example, if
an oc
cupant slouches, lies down, turns si deways, sits forward, leans forward or
sideways, or puts one or both feet up, the chance of injury during a crash is greatly
increased.
In addition, an occupant who is out of position in the front seat can be seriously or
fatally
injured in a crash by striking interior parts of the vehicle or being struck by an
inflating front airbag.

Use the jack to connect standard audio devices. 1.Open
the AUX cover.

a standard audio device to the
input jack using a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) stereo
miniplug.

vehicle. Direct sunlight and high temperatures may
damage it.
•Do not use an extension cable with the USB
adapter cable.
•Do not connect the iPod ® or USB flash drive using a
hub.
•Do not use a device such as a card reader or hard
disk drive, as the device or your files may be
damaged.
•We recommend backing up yo ur data before using
the device in your vehicle.
•Displayed messages may vary depending on the
device model and software version.
If the audio system does not recognize the iPod®, try
reconnecting it a few times or reboot the device. To
reboot, follow the manufac turer's instructions
provided with the iPod ® or visit www.apple.com/
ipod .
1Auxiliary Input Jack
To switch the mode, pres s any of the audio mode
buttons. You can return to the AUX mode by
pressing the AUX button.
You cannot use the auxiliary input jack if you replace
the audio system.

which you can launch or cont rol your attached audio
device.
