Power Door Locks
The power door lock control is on the driverand front passenger door panels.

Door Lock Indicator
An LED on each door window trimilluminates when you lock the door. Itremains on for up to 10 minutes after youswitch the ignition off.
Door Lock Switch Inhibitor
When you electronically lock your vehicle,the power door lock switch will no longeroperate after 20 seconds. You must unlockyour vehicle with the remote control, orswitch the ignition on to restore functionto these switches. You can switch thisfeature on or off in the information display.See Information Displays (page 86).
Remote Control
You can use the remote control at any timewhen the ignition is off.
Unlocking the Doors
Press the button to unlock alldoors. The direction indicatorswill flash.
Note:The driver door can be unlocked withthe key if the remote control is notfunctioning.
Note:When you leave your vehicleunattended for several weeks, the remotecontrol turns off. Your vehicle must beunlocked and the engine started using thekey. Unlocking and starting your vehicle onceenables the remote control.
Reprogramming the UnlockingFunction
You can reprogram the unlocking functionso that only the driver door is unlocked.See Remote Control (page 32).
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock alldoors. The direction indicatorswill flash.
Note:If any door or the liftgate is open, orif the hood is open on vehicles that have ananti-theft alarm or remote start, thedirection indicators will not flash.
Double Locking the Doors
WARNING
Do not use double locking whenpassengers or animals are inside yourvehicle. The doors cannot beunlocked or opened from the inside whendouble locked.
Double locking is a theft protection featurethat prevents someone from opening thedoors from the inside. It will only operateif all of the doors are fully closed.
Press the button twice withinthree seconds.

Do not place objects on the liftgate.
Make sure you fully close the liftgateafter operation.
Operate the liftgate only when yourvehicle is stationary.
You can operate the liftgate using theremote control, the center console switch,the liftgate switch or the liftgate releasehandle.
Note:Make sure there is enough headroomto open the liftgate.
Note:If your vehicle has an automatictransmission, make sure the transmissionselector lever is in park.
Note:In extreme weather conditions,automatic opening and closing will not workwith the liftgate frozen to the seal.
Note:The liftgate will stop automaticallywhile opening and reverse some distance ifthere is an obstacle in the way.
Note:The liftgate will stop automaticallywhile closing and fully open if there is anobstacle in the way.
Note:You can manually operate theliftgate.
Liftgate Switch
Remote Control and Center ConsoleSwitch
Note:Switch the ignition on to operate theliftgate using the center console switch.
You will hear three chimes when theliftgate begins to close.
Five short chimes indicate a malfunctionwith the open or close request. This couldbe caused by one of the following:
•You switch the ignition on and thetransmission selector lever is not inpark.
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
•Your vehicle speed exceeds 3 mph (5km/h).
To open a fully closed liftgate, you caneither:
•Press the button on the remote controltwice within three seconds.
•Press the center console switch.
•Use the liftgate release handle.
To fully open a partially opened liftgate,you can either:
•Press the button on the remote controltwice within three seconds.
•Press the center console switch or theliftgate switch.
•Use the liftgate release handle.
To stop the liftgate, you can either:
•Press the button on the remote control.A further remote control operation willbe delayed for approximately threeseconds.
•Press the center console switch or theliftgate switch.
•Use the liftgate release handle.

Any keys left inside your vehicle interiorwhen it is locked will be disabled.
You cannot use a disabled key to switchthe ignition on or start the engine.
You must enable all passive keys again inorder to use them.
To enable all your passive keys, unlock yourvehicle using a passive key that has notbeen disabled or the remote controlunlocking function.
All passive keys will then be enabled if youswitch the ignition on or you start yourvehicle with a valid key.
Locking and Unlocking the Doorswith the Key Blade
Slide the release on the back of the remotecontrol and pivot the cover off to accessthe key blade.
Note:Only the driver door handle has a lockcylinder.

SYSTEM
Principle of Operation
The system prevents someone fromstarting the engine with an incorrectlycoded key.
Note:Do not leave correctly coded keys inthe vehicle. Always take your keys and lockall doors when leaving the vehicle.
Coded Keys
If you lose a key, you can obtain areplacement from an authorized dealer. Ifpossible, provide them with the keynumber from the tag provided with theoriginal keys. You can also obtain extrakeys from an authorized dealer.
Note:Have all of your remaining keyserased and recoded if you lose a key. Havereplacement keys coded together withrecoding your remaining keys. See anauthorized dealer for further information.
Note:Do not shield your keys with metalobjects. This may prevent the receiver fromrecognizing a coded key.
Arming the Engine Immobilizer
When you switch the ignition off the engineimmobilizer will arm automatically after ashort time.
Disarming the Engine Immobilizer
When you switch the ignition on the engineimmobilizer will disarm automatically if acorrectly coded key is used.
If you are unable to start your vehicle witha correctly coded key, have your vehiclechecked by an authorized dealer.

Alarm System
WARNING
Do not arm the alarm with full guardif passengers, animals or othermoving objects are inside yourvehicle.
Perimeter Alarm
The perimeter alarm is a deterrent againstunauthorized access to your vehiclethrough the doors and the hood. It alsoprotects the audio unit.
Interior Sensors
The interior lamp unit sensors are locatedin the overhead console.
Note:Do not cover up the interior lamp unitsensors.
The sensors act as a deterrent againstunauthorized intrusion by sensing anymovement inside your vehicle.
Triggering the Alarm
Once armed, the alarm is triggered in anyof the following ways:
•If someone opens a door, the liftgateor the hood without a valid key orremote control.
•If someone removes the audio unit ornavigation system.
•If you switch your vehicle on without acorrectly coded key.
•If the interior sensors detect movementwithin your vehicle.
If the alarm is triggered, the alarm horn willsound for 30 seconds and the hazardwarning flasher will flash for five minutes.

1.Press the steering column control againafter encountering the new stoppingposition.
2.Continue pressing the control until itreaches the end of the column position.
A new stopping position is set. The nexttime you tilt or telescope the steeringcolumn, it will stop just short of the end ofthe column position.
Memory Feature
You can save and recall the steeringcolumn position with the memory function.See Memory Function (page 131).
Note:Pressing the adjustment controlduring memory recall cancels the operation.The column responds to the adjustmentcontrol.
Easy Entry and Exit Feature (If
Equipped)
When you switch the ignition off, thesteering column will move to the full upposition to allow extra room to exit yourvehicle. The column will return to theprevious setting when you switch theignition on. You can enable or disable thisfeature in the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 86).
AUDIO CONTROL
Select the required source on the audiounit.
Operate the following functions with thecontrol:

Rear Window Wiper
Note:Make sure you switch the rearwindow wiper and ignition off before usingan automatic car wash.

Press the top of the button to switchintermittent wipe on. Press the top of thebutton again to switch low speed wipe on.Press the bottom of the button to switchthe rear window wiper off.
When you switch on the front wipers andmove the gearshift lever to reverse (R),rear intermittent wipe automatically turnson.
Rear Window Washer
Push the lever away from you to operatethe rear window washer. When you releasethe lever, wiping continues for a shortperiod of time.

Pull the lever toward you slightly andrelease it to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS
WARNING
The autolamps switch position maynot activate the headlamps in all lowvisibility conditions, such as daytimefog. Always ensure that your headlampsare switched to auto or on, as appropriate,during all low visibility conditions. Failureto do so may result in a collision.
When the lighting control is in theautolamps position, the headlampsautomatically turn on in low light situationsor when the wipers activate.
If equipped, the following also activatewhen the lighting control is in theautolamps position and you switch themon in the information display:
•Configurable daytime running lamps.
•Automatic high beam control.
•Adaptive headlamp control.
The headlamps will remain on for a periodof time after you switch the ignition off.Use the information display controls toadjust the period of time that theheadlamps will remain on. SeeInformation Displays (page 86).
Note:If you have autolamps switched onyou can only switch the high beamheadlamps on once the system has turnedthe headlamps on.
Windshield Wiper ActivatedHeadlamps
When the headlamp switch is in theAutolamps position, the windshield wiperactivated exterior lamps will turn on within10 seconds when you switch thewindshield wipers on. They turn offapproximately 60 seconds after you switchthe windshield wipers off.
This feature does not turn on the exteriorlamps:
•During a single wipe.
•While the wipers are on to clear washerfluid during a wash condition.
•If the wipers are in automatic orintermittent modes.
Note: If you have autolamps andautowipers switched on the low beamheadlamps will turn on automatically whenthe windshield wipers operate continuously.

DIMMER
Note:You disable the manual dimmerwhen you adjust the setting to AutoDimming in the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 86).
Note:If you disconnect the battery or itbecomes discharged, the illuminatedcomponents will switch to the maximumsetting.
Press repeatedly or press and hold untilyou reach the desired level.
HEADLAMP EXIT DELAY
After you switch the ignition off, you canswitch the headlamps on by pulling thedirection indicator lever toward you. Youwill hear a short tone. The headlamps willswitch off automatically after threeminutes with any door open or 30 secondsafter the last door has been closed. Youcan cancel this feature by pulling thedirection indicator toward you again orswitching the ignition on.
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS
WARNING
Always remember to switch yourheadlamps on in low light situationsor during inclement weather. Thesystem does not activate the tail lampsand may not provide adequate lightingduring these conditions. Failure to activateyour headlamps under these conditionsmay result in a collision.
To switch the system on:
1.Switch the ignition on.
2.Switch the lighting control to the off orautolamp position.
AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM
CONTROL (If Equipped)
WARNINGS
The system does not relieve you ofyour responsibility to drive with duecare and attention. A manualoverride may be necessary if the systemfails to switch the high beam on or off.
A manual override may be requiredwhen approaching other road userssuch as cyclists.
Do not use the system in fog.
In cold and severe weatherconditions the system may notfunction. A manual override may benecessary in these cases.
The system may not deactivate thehigh beam if the lights of oncomingvehicles are hidden by obstacles (forexample guard rails).
