2014 FORD FUSION (AMERICAS) display

When you electronically lock your vehicle(with any door open, vehicle in park andignition off), the vehicle will search for anintelligent access key in the passengercompartment after you close the last door.If your vehicle finds a key, all of the doorswill immediately unlock and the horn willsound twice, indicating that a key is inside.
You can override the smart unlock featureand intentionally lock the intelligent accesskey inside your vehicle. To do this, lock yourvehicle after you have closed all the doorsby:
•using the keyless entry keypad
•pressing the lock button on anotherintelligent access key
•touching the locking area on the handlewith another intelligent access key inyour hand.
When you open one of the front doors andlock your vehicle using the power door lockcontrol, all doors will lock then unlock if:
•the ignition is on, or
•the ignition is off and your vehicle is notin P.
Auto Relock
If you press the unlock button on theremote control and do not open a doorwithin 45 seconds, your vehicle will lockand the alarm will arm. You can enable ordisable this feature in the informationdisplay. See General Information (page87).
Autolock Feature
The autolock feature will lock all the doorswhen:
•all doors are closed,
•the ignition is on,
•you shift into any gear putting yourvehicle in motion, and
•your vehicle attains a speed greaterthan 12 mph (20 km/h).
The autolock feature repeats when:
•you open then close any door while theignition is on and your vehicle speed is9 mph (15 km/h) or lower, and
•your vehicle then attains a speedgreater than 12 mph (20 km/h).
Autounlock Feature
The autounlock feature will unlock all thedoors when:
•the ignition is on, all the doors areclosed, and your vehicle has been inmotion at a speed greater than 12 mph(20 km/h);
•your vehicle comes to a stop and youswitch the ignition off or to accessory;and
•you open the driver door within 10minutes of the switching the ignitionoff or to accessory.
Note:The doors will not autounlock if youelectronically lock your vehicle after youswitch the ignition off and before you openthe driver door.
Enabling or Disabling
Note:You can enable or disable theautolock and autounlock featuresindependently of each other.
You can enable or disable these featuresin the information display or yourauthorized dealer can do it for you. SeeGeneral Information (page 87).
Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and select exteriorlamps will illuminate when you unlock thedoors with the remote entry system.

Anti-Scan Feature
The keypad will go into an anti-scan modeif you enter the wrong code seven times(35 consecutive button presses). Thismode disables the keypad for one minuteand the keypad lamp will flash.
The anti-scan feature will turn off after:
•one minute of keypad inactivity
•pressing the unlock button on theremote control
•switching the ignition on
•unlocking your vehicle using intelligentaccess.
Unlocking and Locking the Doors
To Unlock the Driver Door
Enter the factory-set 5-digit code or yourpersonal code. You must press eachnumber within five seconds of each other.The interior lamps will illuminate.
Note:All doors will unlock if you enable theall-door unlocking mode. See Locking andUnlocking (page 54).
To Unlock All Doors
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 3·4 within five seconds.
To Lock All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 at the sametime (with the driver door closed). You donot need to enter the keypad code first.
To Release the Trunk
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 5·6 within five seconds.
Displaying the Factory Set Code
With Integrated Keyhead Transmitters
Note:You will need to have twoprogrammed passive anti-theft keys for thisprocedure.
To display the factory-set code in theinformation display:
1.Insert a key into the ignition and switchthe ignition on for a few seconds.
2.Switch the ignition off and remove thekey.
3.Insert the second key into the ignitionand switch the ignition on.
The factory-set code will display for a fewseconds.
Note:The code may not display until afterany other warning messages first display.
With Intelligent Access Keys
Note:You will need to have twoprogrammed intelligent access keys for thisprocedure.
To display the factory-set code in theinformation display:
1.Place the first programmed key in thebackup slot inside the center console.The key ring must be at the top withthe buttons facing toward the rear.
2.Press the START/STOP button onceand wait a few seconds.
3.Press the START/STOP button againand remove the key.
4.Insert the second programmed key intothe backup slot, then press theSTART/STOP button.

WARNINGS
Keep vehicle doors and luggagecompartment locked and keep keysand remote transmitters out of achild’s reach. Unsupervised children couldlock themselves in the trunk and risk injury.Children should be taught not to play invehicles.
Do not leave children, unreliableadults, or animals unattended in thevehicle. On hot days, thetemperature in the trunk or vehicle interiorcan rise very quickly. Exposure of peopleor animals to these high temperatures foreven a short time can cause death orserious heat-related injuries, including braindamage. Small children are particularly atrisk.
Your vehicle is equipped with a releasehandle that provides a means of escapefor children and adults if they becomelocked inside the luggage compartment.
Adults should familiarize themselves withthe operation and location of the releasehandle.
The handle is located inside the luggagecompartment either on the luggagecompartment door (lid) or near the taillamps. It is composed of a material thatwill glow for hours in darkness followingbrief exposure to ambient light.
Pull the handle and push up on the luggagecompartment door (lid) to open fromwithin the luggage compartment.

PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT
SYSTEM
Note:The system is not compatible withnon-Ford aftermarket remote start systems.Use of these systems may result in vehiclestarting problems and a loss of securityprotection.
Note:Metallic objects, electronic devicesor a second coded key on the same keychain may cause vehicle starting problemsif they are too close to the key when startingyour vehicle. Prevent these objects fromtouching the coded key while starting yourvehicle. Switch the ignition off, move allobjects on the key chain away from thecoded key and restart your vehicle if aproblem occurs.
Note:Do not leave a duplicate coded keyin your vehicle. Always take your keys andlock all doors when leaving your vehicle.
SecuriLock®
The system helps prevent your vehiclefrom starting unless you use a coded keyprogrammed to your vehicle. Using thewrong key may prevent your vehicle fromstarting. A message may appear in theinformation display.
If you are unable to start your vehicle witha correctly coded key, a malfunction hashappened. A message may appear in theinformation display.
Automatic Arming
Your vehicle arms immediately afterswitching the ignition off.
Automatic Disarming
Switching the ignition on with a coded keydisarms your vehicle.
Replacement Keys
Note:Your vehicle comes equipped withtwo integrated keyhead transmitters or twointelligent access keys.
The integrated keyhead transmitterfunctions as a programmed ignition keythat operates all the locks and starts yourvehicle, as well as a remote control.
The intelligent access key functions as aprogrammed key that operates the driverdoor lock and activates the intelligentaccess with push button start system, aswell as a remote control.
If your programmed transmitters orstandard SecuriLock coded keys(integrated keyhead transmitters only) arelost or stolen and you do not have an extracoded key, you will need to have yourvehicle towed to an authorized dealer. Youneed to erase the key codes from yourvehicle and program new coded keys.
Store an extra programmed key away fromyour vehicle in a safe place to help preventany inconveniences. See your authorizeddealer to purchase additional spare orreplacement keys.
Programming a Spare IntegratedKeyhead Transmitter
Note:You can program a maximum of eightcoded keys to your vehicle. All eight can beintegrated keyhead transmitters.
You can program your own integratedkeyhead transmitter or standardSecuriLock coded keys to your vehicle. Thisprocedure will program both the vehicleimmobilizer keycode and the remote entryportion of the remote control to yourvehicle.
Only use integrated keyhead transmittersor standard SecuriLock keys.

Note:Wet or winter driving conditions withice, snow or salty road mist can causeinconsistent and unexpected wiping orsmearing.
In these conditions, you can do thefollowing to help keep your windshieldclear:
•Lower the sensitivity of the autowipersto reduce the amount of smearing.
•Switch to normal or high-speed wipe.
•Switch the autowipers off.

The autowipers feature uses a rain sensor.You will find it in the area around theinterior mirror. The rain sensor monitorsthe amount of moisture on the windshieldand automatically turns on the wipers. Itwill adjust the wiper speed by the amountof moisture that the sensor detects on thewindshield. You can turn this feature onand off in the information display. SeeGeneral Information (page 87).
Use the rotary control to adjust thesensitivity of the rain sensor. Set thecontrol to low sensitivity, and the wiperswill turn on when the rain sensor detectsa large amount of moisture on thewindshield. Set the control to highsensitivity, and the wipers will turn on whenthe rain sensor detects a small amount ofmoisture on the windshield.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean.The rain sensor is very sensitive. If the areaaround the mirror is dirty, then the wipersmay operate if dirt, mist or insects hit thewindshield.
WINDSHIELD WASHERS
Note:Do not operate the washers whenthe washer reservoir is empty. This maycause the washer pump to overheat.
To operate the washers and spray thewindshield, pull the lever toward you.
A wipe will occur a few seconds afterwashing to clear any remaining washerfluid. This feature can be switched on oroff in the information display. See GeneralInformation (page 87).

Push the lever forward again or pull thelever toward you to switch the high beamsoff.
Headlamp Flasher

The headlamps will switch on and offautomatically in low light situations orduring inclement weather.
The headlamps will remain on for a periodof time after you switch the ignition off.Use the information display controls toadjust the period of time that theheadlamps will remain on. SeeInformation Displays (page 87).
