The system switches the headlamps onwith a reduced output in daylightconditions.
To switch the system on:
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Switch the lighting control to the off,or parking lamp position.
3. Disengage the parking brake.
4. Make sure the transmission selectorlever is not in position P.
FRONT FOG LAMPS (IF EQUIPPED)
The headlamp control also operates thefog lamps. The fog lamps can be turnedon only when the headlamp control is inthe parking lamp (second) position,headlamps on (third) position, or autolamp(fourth) position, and the high beams arenot turned on.
Pull headlamp control towards you to turnfog lamps on. The fog lamp indicator lightwill illuminate.
DIRECTION INDICATORS
The turn signal lever does not mechanicallylock in the upward or downward positionwhen activated. The turn signal controlactivation and cancellation is electronic.
•To operate the left turn signal, push thelever down until it stops and release.
•To operate the right turn signal, pushthe lever up until it stops and release.
•To manually cancel turn signaloperation, push the lever again in eitherdirection.
Lane Change
To indicate a left or right lane change:
•Push the lever up/down to the firststop position and release. The turnsignals will flash three times and stop.
•Push the lever up/down to the firststop position and hold. The turn signalswill flash for as long as the lever is heldin this position.

The lamps will switch on when one of thefollowing conditions have been met:

MANUAL CLIMATE CONTROL
Defrost: Distributes air through the windshield defroster vents and demistervents. You can also use this setting to defog and clear the windshield of a thincovering of ice.
A
Rear defrost and heated mirrors: Turns the heated mirrors off and on as wellas the heated rear window, if your vehicle has that feature. See HeatedWindows and Mirrors (page 106).

Air distribution control: Press to set the air distribution to a position.Floorand defrost distributes air through the windshield defroster vents, demistervents and floor vents.Panel distributes air through the instrument panel vents.Panel and floor distributes air through the instrument panel vents, floor vents,and demister vents.Floor distributes air through the floor vents.
C
A/C: Press to turn air conditioning off and on. Air conditioning cools the vehicleusing outside air. To improve air conditioning when starting your vehicle, drivewith the windows slightly open for two to three minutes.
D
Recirculated air: Press to switch between outside air and recirculated air.When the air in the passenger compartment is recirculating, the LED on thebutton illuminates. Using recirculated air can reduce the time needed to coolthe interior and reduce unwanted odors from entering your vehicle.
E
MAX A/C: Distributes recirculated air through the instrument panel vents tocool the vehicle. This position is more economical and efficient than normalA/C.

Temperature control: Controls the temperature of the air circulated in yourvehicle. Turn to select the desired temperature.G

MAX A/C: Distributes recirculated air through the instrument panel vents tocool the vehicle. This position is more economical and efficient than normal airconditioning. When in MAX A/C mode, pressing MAX A/C returns you to yourprevious settings.

Recirculated air: Press to switch between outside air and recirculated air.When the air currently in the passenger compartment is recirculating, the LEDon the button illuminates. Using recirculated air can reduce the time needed tocool the interior and reduce unwanted odors from entering your vehicle. Evenwhen you do not select this button, air may still recirculate in some instancesin order to reduce vehicle warm-up time in cold conditions or to cool down time

PASS TEMP: Press to switch between single and dual zone. Turn to increaseor decrease the air temperature on the passenger side of the vehicle.H
Fan speed control +: Press to increase the volume of air circulated in yourvehicle.I
AUTO: Press to turn on fully automatic operation. Select the desiredtemperature using the temperature control. The system automaticallydetermines fan speed, air distribution, A/C operation, and outside or recirculatedair, to heat or cool the vehicle to maintain the selected temperature.

HINTS ON CONTROLLING THE
INTERIOR CLIMATE
Note:To reduce fogging of the windshieldduring humid weather, adjust the airdistribution control to the windshield airvents position. Increase the temperatureand fan speed to improve clearing, ifrequired.
Note:To reduce humidity build-up insideyour vehicle, do not drive with the systemswitched off or with recirculated air alwaysswitched on.
Note:Do not place objects under the frontseats as this may interfere with the airflowto the rear seats.
Note:Remove any snow, ice or leaves fromthe air intake area at the base of thewindshield.

1. Make sure the headlamps are off.
2. Remove the screws and lampassembly from the vehicle as wiringpermits.
3. Remove the bulb socket by rotating itcounterclockwise.
4.Pull the bulb straight out of the socket.
5. Install the new bulb in reverse order.
Replacing the License Plate LampBulb
Note:The license plate bulbs are locatedbehind the rear bumper.
1. Reach behind the rear bumper tolocate the bulb.
2.Twist the bulb socket counterclockwiseand carefully pull to remove it from thelamp assembly.
3. Pull out the old bulb from the socketand push in the new bulb.
4. Install the new bulb in reverse order.
BULB SPECIFICATION CHART
Replacement bulbs are specified in thechart below. Headlamp bulbs must bemarked with an authorized “D.O.T.” forNorth America and an “E” for Europe toensure lamp performance, light brightnessand pattern and safe visibility. The correctbulbs will not damage the lamp assemblyor void the lamp assembly warranty andwill provide quality bulb illumination time.
