Anti-theft protection
Electronic engine immobiliser
The keys contain an electronic chip which has a secret code. When the ignition is switched
on, this code must be recognised in order for starting to be possible. This electronic engine immobiliser locks the engine management system a few minutes after the ignition is switched off and prevents starting of the engine by anyone who does not have the key. In the event of a malfunction, you are informed by a message in the instrument panel screen. In this case, your vehicle does not start; contact a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.
Ignition on without
starting
With the electronic key in the reader or the Keyless Entry and Starting key inside the vehicle, pressing the "START/STOP" button, with no action on the pedals , allows the ignition to be switched on.
 Press the "START/STOP" button, the instrument panel comes on but the engine does not start.  Press the button again to switch off the ignition and so allow the vehicle to be locked.
With the ignition on, the system goes into energy economy mode when necessary to maintain the state of charge of the battery.

Back-up starting with the Keyless Entry and Starting system
When the electronic key is in the defined zone and your vehicle does not start after pressing the "START/STOP" button:  Insert the electronic key in the reader.  Press the brake pedal.  Press the "START/STOP" button. The hybrid system is active.
Back-up switch-off
In the event of an emergency only, the engine can be switched of without any conditions. To
do this, press and hold the "START/STOP" button for about 3 seconds. In this case the steering column locks as soon as the vehicle stops.
Electronic key not recognised by the "Keyless Entry and Starting" system
If the electronic key is no longer in the defined zone when driving or when you (later) request switching off of the hybrid system, a message appears in the instrument panel.
 Press and hold the "START/STOP" button for about 3 seconds if you want to force
switching off of the hybrid system (note that restarting will not be possible without the electronic key in the defined zone).
The electronic key must always remain inside the vehicle when in use.

Service indicator
More than 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain before the next service is due
When the ignition is switched on, no service information appears in the screen.
System which informs the driver when the next service is due, in accordance with the manufacturer's servicing schedule. The point at which the service is due is calculated from the last indicator zero reset. It is determined by two parameters: - the distance travelled, - the time elapsed since the last service. Between 600 miles (1 000 km) and 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain before the next service is due
For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner symbolising the service operations comes on. The distance recorder display line indicates the distance remaining before the next service is due. Example: 1 700 miles (2 800 km) remain before the next service is due. For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the screen indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner goes off ; the distance recorder the spanner goes off ; the distance recorder the spanner goes offresumes its normal operation. The screen then indicates the total and trip distances.
Less than 600 miles (1 000 km) remain before the next service is due
Example: 560 miles (900 km) remain before the next service is due. For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the screen indicates:
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the distance recorder resumes its normal operation. The spanner remains on to indicate that a service must be carried out soon.
Illumination of the key is accompanied by a message in the instrument panel screen.

Unlocking the vehicle
Complete unlocking Selective unlocking
System which permits central unlocking or locking of the vehicle using the lock or from a distance. It is also used to locate and start the vehicle, as well as providing protection against theft.
This setting is done in the configuration menu. Complete unlocking is activated by default.
Unlocking is confirmed by rapid flashing of the direction indicators for around two seconds. At the same time, depending on version, the door mirrors unfold.
 To unlock only the driver's door, press the open padlock once.
 Press the open padlock to unlock the vehicle.
 To unlock the other doors and the boot, press the open padlock again.

"Keyless Entry and Starting" system
System that allows the opening, closing and starting of the vehicle while keeping the electronic key on your person.
Accumulations (water, dust, grime, salt...) on the inner sur face if the door handle may affect detection. If cleaning the inner sur face of the door handle using a cloth does not restore detection, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. A sudden splash of water (stream of water, high pressure jet washer, …) may be identified by the system as the desire to open the vehicle.
It can also be used as a remote control; see the "Electronic key/remote control" section.
For reasons of safety and theft protection, do not leave your electronic key in the vehicle, even when you are close to it. It is recommended that you keep it on your person: in a pocket, bag, ...

Unlocking the vehicle
Complete unlocking
 With the electronic key on your person and in the recognition zone A , pass your hand behind the door handle to unlock the vehicle, then pull the handle to open the d o o r. Your passengers can also open their doors, as soon as the electronic key is in the recognition zone around the vehicle.
Selective unlocking
This setting is done via the configuration menu. By default, complete unlocking is activated.
 To unlock only the drivers door, with the electronic key on your person, pass your hand behind the driver's door handle then pull the door handle to open.  To unlock the complete vehicle, pass your hand behind one of the passenger door handles on the same side of the vehicle as the electronic key is located, then pull the door handle to open.
Unlocking is confirmed by rapid
flashing of the direction indicators for approximately two seconds. The door mirrors unfold at the same time. If the alarm is on, the audible warning when opening a door with the key (integral with the remote control), will stop on starting the engine.

Locating your vehicle Locking the vehicle
 With the electronic key in the recognition zone A , press with a finger on one of the door handles (at the markings) to lock the vehicle . Maintain pressure with your finger until the windows close completely.
Locking is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators for approximately two seconds. The door mirrors fold at the same time.
If one of the doors or the boot is still open or if the key for Keyless Entry and Starting system has been left inside the vehicle or if the ignition is on, the central locking does not take place. When the vehicle is locked, if it is unlocked inadvertently, it will lock itself again automatically after about thirty seconds unless a door is opened. If the alarm was previously activated, it will not be reactivated automatically. The folding and unfolding of the door mirrors by the remote control can be deactivated by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
As a safety measure (children on board), never leave the vehicle without taking the key for the Keyless Entry and Starting system, even for a short period. Guard against theft when the key for the Keyless Entry and Starting system is in the recognition zone with the vehicle unlocked. In order to preserve the charge of the cell battery in the remote control, the "hands-free" functions go into extended stand-by after 21 days of non-use. To restore these functions, press one of the remote control buttons or start the engine with the electronic key in the reader.
Ensure that no one prevents the correct operation of the windows. Be aware of children when operating the windows.
This function allows you to identify your vehicle from a distance, particularly in poor light. Your vehicle must be locked.
 Press the closed padlock on the remote control.
This will switch on the courtesy lamps and the direction indicators will flash for around ten seconds.

Deadlocking
Deadlocking renders the exterior and interior door controls inoperative. It also deactivates the manual central control button. Therefore, never leave anyone inside the vehicle when it is deadlocked.
Using the remote control
 Press the closed padlock to lock the vehicle completely. Maintain pressure with your finger for more than two seconds to close the windows.
With the Keyless Entry and Starting system
By the doors:  With the electronic key in the recognition zone A , press a finger on the door handle (at the markings) to lock the vehicle.
 Within five seconds, press the door handle again to deadlock the vehicle.
Ensure that no one is preventing the correct closing of the windows. Be aware of children when operating the windows.
 Press the closed padlock again within five seconds to deadlock the vehicle.
