RACING tyres

Driving in winter conditions

The 215/40 R18 89W tyres fitted as standardare not suitable for severe winter conditions. CITROËN recommends that you use suitable
winter tyres during periods of very cold
weather.
If you want to fit snow chains or anti-slip covers to your vehicle, contacta CITROËN dealer for advice on the tyres recommended for your vehicle.

Snow chains
In wintry conditions, snow chains improve traction as well as the behaviour of the vehicle when braking.


The snow chains must be fitted only to the front wheels. They must never be fitted to "space-saver" type spare
wheels.


Take account of the legislation in force in your country on the use of snowchains and the maximum running speed authorised.

Avoid driving on roads that have been cleared of snow, to avoid damagingyour vehicle's tyres and the roadsurface. It is recommended that beforeyou leave, you practise fitting the snowchains on a level and dry surface. If your vehicle is fitted with alloy wheels, check that no par t of the chain or its fixings is in contact with the wheel rim.



Advice on installation
)
If you have to fit the chains during a journey, stop the vehicle on a flat surface on the side of the
road. ) Apply the parking brake and position any wheel chocks to prevent movement of your vehicle. )
Fit the chains following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.)
Move off gently and drive for a few moments, without exceeding 30 mph (50 km/h). )
Stop your vehicle and check that the snow chains are correctly tightened.

Towing the vehicle
Procedure for having your vehicle towed or for towing another vehicle using a removable towing eye.

The towing eye is installed in the boot under
the floor.
To gain access to it:
)open the boot, )raise the floor,)remove the polystyrene storage box,)remove the towing eye from the holder.

Access to the tools
General recommendations
Obser ve the legislation in force in your country. Ensure that the weight of the towing vehicle is higher than that of the towed vehicle. The driver must remain at the wheel of the towed vehicle and must have a valid driving licence.When towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, always use an approved towingbar; rope and straps are prohibited. When towing a vehicle with the engine off, there is no longer any power assistance for braking or steering. In the following cases, you must always call on a professional recovery service: - vehicle broken down on a motor way or fast road, - 4 wheel drive vehicle, - when it is not possible to put the gearbox into neutral, unlock the steering, or releasethe parking brake,- towing with only two wheels on the ground, - where there is no approved towing bar available...

Matt paint

We recommend the use of a high pressurejet wash, or at least a water hose with a high output.
We recommend that the vehicle be rinsed using de-ionised water.
Use only a microfibre cloth to dry the vehicle.It must be clean and used without heavypressure.
Lightly wipe off any fuel stains present on the
bodywork using a soft cloth, then leave to dry.
From the range of cleaning and maintenance
products in the "TECHNATURE" range
recommended and approved by CITROËN,
use only the insect remover and car shampoo,
which are the only products to be used on the
bodywork.
The insect remover can also be used to remove
minor marks (for example: finger marks...).
Always have paint repairs done by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.

Recommendations on the care and maintenance your vehicle are given in the maintenance and
warranty guide.
Never clean the vehicle without water. Never wash your vehicle in anautomatic roller brush car wash.Never polish the vehicle body, nor thealloy wheels. Doing this will make the paintwork shiny.Do not use paint cleaners, abrasive products or paint polishing or preserving products (such as wax, for example) on the paintwork. These products are only suitable for bright finishes. Application of these products on vehicles with a matt finish will seriously damage the paint surface of the vehicle, giving rise to irreversible
shiny or stained areas.Never use a high pressure jet washwith a lance fitted with a brush, this may scratch the paintwork. Never select a wash programme that finishes with a hot wax cycle.

lacquer, please observe the followingrecommendations to avoid damaging the paintwork by the use of an inappropriate cleaning procedures.
These recommendations are also valid for alloyroad wheels finished with clear matt lacquer.

When fitting a towbar outside the CITROËN dealer network, the installation must be done using thevehicle's electrical pre-equipment and following the vehicle manufacturer'srecommendations.

Identifi cation markings
A. Vehicle identification number (VIN) under
the bonnet.This number is engraved on the bodywork near
the passenger compar tment filter.
B. Vehicle identification number on the dashboard.This number is indicated on a self-adhesive label which is visible through the windscreen.
D. Tyre/paint label.
This label is affixed to the left hand centrepillar.

Wheels which are fitted with 205/45 R17 tyres cannot be fitted withsnow chains. For more information, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.

Low tyre pressures increase fuelconsumption.

The tyre pressures must be checked when the tyres are cold, at least oncea month.
C. Manufacturer's label.
The VIN is indicated on a self-destroying label
affixed to the left hand centre pillar. It bears the
following information:


- the tyre pressures, for unladen and laden conditions,

- the wheel rim and tyre sizes,

- the brands of tyre recommended by the manufacturer,

- the spare tyre inflation pressure,

- the paint colour code.
