BRAKE /((J)) Brake system
The light illuminates when the ignition is
swi tched on.
It goes o ut after the e ngine has
b een st arte d. T his indi ca tes that t he br ake
warning ligh t is functioni ng pro perly.
If the brake warning light does not light up
when the engine is cranking, there may be a malfunction in the electrical system. In this
case, contact your Audi dealer.

II -If the indicator light turns on, a bulb has
fa iled. The message indicates the location of
the bulb .
[!ll-if a rear fog lamp has fa iled, the indicator
l ight tu rns on to indicate the location on the
veh icle.
Vehicle light s: malfunc tion
If the message appears, there is a malfunc­
tion in the headlights or light switch .
Drive to your authorized Audi dea ler immedi­
ately to have the malfunction corrected .
A WARNING
-Light bu lbs are pressurized and could ex­
plode while they are being changed caus­
ing serious persona l injury.
- Work w ith due care when handling the
high-voltage section of gas discharge
(xenon) lights. Fa ilure to do so could re­
sult in death or se rious inj ury.

If the symbol illuminates, the headlight range
control is no longer working properly . Have
the system checked and repa ired at your Aud i
dealer .

If the indicator light turns on and th is mes­
sage appears, the re is a malfunction in the
adapt ive l ight system. The headlights still
function. Go to an authorized dealersh
ip to have the
headlights or the control unit for the Adaptive
Light repaired.
@) Light/rain sensor
II A utomatic headlights /automatic wipers :
s y ste m fault
If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, the light/rain sensor is not
funct ioning correct ly.
Fo r safety reasons the low beams are t urned
on pe rmanently with the switch in
AUTO.
However, you can continue to turn the lights
on and off us ing the light switch. You can st ill
control all functions that are independent of
the ra in sensor through the w indshield wiper
lever .
Contact your authorized Audi dealer as soon
as possible to have the problem corrected .
rI Sport differential
App lies to vehicles: wit h sport differential

There is a malfunction with the sport d ifferen­
tial.
Drive to your authorized A udi dealer immedi­
ate ly to have the malfunction corrected.
(II Sport differ ential: o verhea ting
The transm iss ion tempe rature has increased
s ignifica ntly due to the sporty d riving manner.
D rive in a less sporty ma nner un til the tem­
perature re turns to the normal range and the
indicator light switches of.
A WARNING
Contact your author ized Audi dealer or a
q ualified workshop if the spo rt differential
is faulty or malfunct ioning. The repair
must be performed by trained personnel
using the correct oil in order to ensure
safety .

The headlights only wo rk when the ignition is
sw itched on. Wh ile start ing the eng ine or
when switching off the ig nition, the head­
lights will go off and on ly the s ide marker

All-weather lights*
In vehicles with al l-wea ther lights, the front
li gh ts a re a dju sted au tom atically so that you
are less like ly to see glare from your own
head lig hts, for example when driving on a wet
road.
Automatic headlight range cont rol*
T he hea dlights do not blind oncoming traffic
i f the veh icle load changes . The headlight
range also ad justs automatica lly when brak­
ing and acce lerating .
Light functions
The following light funct ions are avai lab le de­
pend ing on veh icle equipment and o nly func­
tion when the lig ht sw itch is in the AU TO posi­
tio n. You can deactivate these functions in the
MMI under
Audi adaptive light~ page 45.
Vehicles wi th St atic corn ering light* : the cor ­
nering light sw itches on a utomat ica lly when
the steering wheel is turned at a certain angle
at spee ds up to approx imately 44 mph
(70 km/h) and when the turn signa l is activat­
ed at speeds up to approx imately 25 mph
(40 km/h) . The a rea to the side of the vehicle
is illum inated better when turn ing.
Vehicles with
Dynamic curve light* : the curve
light only functions at speeds between ap­
proximate ly 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph
(110 km/h) and adapts itse lf to the c urves in
the road .

You can adjust the following settings in the
Automatic headlights menu:
Headlights a ctivation time -You can adjust if
the head lights switch on
Early , Med. or Late
according to the sensitivity of the light sensor.
Audi adaptive light* -You can switch adaptive
light
On and Off.
Daytime running lights
USA models :
You can switc h the dayt ime run­
ning lights
on and off .
Canada models:
The function cannot be
turned off . It is activated automatica lly each
time the ign ition is switched on. This menu
item is shown "greyed out".
Coming home, Leaving home
The coming home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when yo u switch the
ignition off and open the driver's door. To turn
the function on, select
Lights when leaving
car > On .
The leaving home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when you un lock the
vehicle. To turn the funct ion on, select
Lights
when unlocking car > On .
The coming home and leaving home functions
only operate when it is dark and the light
switch is in the
AUTO pos ition.
Turn signals and high beam lever
The lever on the left side of the steering col­
umn is used to operate the turn signals and
the high beam as well as the headlight flash­
er.

Notes on these features

nal switches off automatically.

high beam works only when the head-

row.
- Th e battery charge level becomes too low.
- High power consumption .
Switching the ignition automatically
To prevent the battery from draining, the igni­
tion will switch off
automatically when all of
the following conditions have been met:
- The vehicle has already been driven .
- The engine has been turned off by the Start-
Stop-System*.
- The driver's door is opened .
- The driver's seat belt is removed.
- The bra ke peda l is not pressed down.
- The vehicle is stationary.
In this case, the activated low beam will be re­
placed by the side marker lights. The side
marker lights will switch off after approx i­
mately 30 minutes or when you lock the vehi­
cle .
If the Start-Stop System has
not turned off
the engine or if you have switched the Start­
Stop system off manually, the ignition w ill
not
be automatically switched off and the engine
will continue to run

& WARNING
Never allow the engine to run in confined
spaces -danger of asphyxiation.
(0 Tips
If you shift into the D, N or S positions af­
ter shifting into reverse, the vehicle must
be driven faster than 6 mph (10 km/h) in
order for the engine to switch off again .

If you do not wish to use the system, you can
switch it off manually.

This message appears when spec ific condi­
tions are not met during a stop phase and the
Start-Stop-System will
not be able to restart
the engine . If the Dor R selector lever posi­
tions were engaged, P will be selected auto­
matically. The engine must be started with
the
I START ENGINE STOP! button.
Start-Stop system: System fault! Function
unavailable
T here is a malfunction in the Start-Stop-Sys­
tem . Drive the vehicle to an authorized repair
facility for servicing as soon as possible to cor­
rect the malfunction.
