Number of keys
You can check the number of assigned keys to
you r vehicle <=>
page 11. This allows you to
make sure you have re ceived all of the keys
when you purchase a used vehicle.
Data in th e mast er ke y
During driving, service and maintenance-rele­
vant data is continuously stored on your mas­
ter key. Your Audi service adviser can read out
this data and tell you abo ut the work yo ur ve­
hicle needs . This applies also to vehicles with
convenience key*.
Person al comf ort settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recom­
mended that each person always uses "their
own'' master key. When the ignition is turned
off or when the vehicle is locked, pe rsonal
convenience settings for the following sys ­
tems are stored and assigned to the remote
master key.
- Climate control
- Powe r locking system
- Seat memory*
- Parking system*
- Adaptive cruise control*
- Side assist*
- Drive select*
T he sto red settings are automatically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, when you open
the doors or when you turn on the ignition .
A WARNING

-Do not leave your vehicle unattended
with the key in the ignition lock . Entry by
unauthorized persons could endanger
you or result in theft or damage the vehi­
cle .
- Do not leave ch ildren unattended in t he
veh icle, especially with access to vehicle

keys. Unguarded access to the keys pro­
vides children the opportunity to start the engine and/or act ivate vehicle sys­
tems such as the power w indows etc . Un­
supervised operation of any veh icle sys­
tem by ch ildren can res ult in serious in­
Jury.
- Do not remove the key from the ignition
lock until the vehicle has come to a com­
plete stop. Otherwise the steering col­
um n loc k co uld suddenly e ngage -caus­
ing the risk of an accident.
@ Tips
- The operation of the remote contro l key
c a n be tempo rarily disrupted by in terfer­
ence from tran smi tters in t he v ici nity of
the veh icle work ing in the same frequen­
cy ra nge (e.g . a ce ll phone, radio equip­
ment).
- Fo r security reasons, replacement keys
are on ly available from author ized Audi
dealer.

provides information about different condi­
t ions .
" The check light tu rns on br iefly once when a
button is pressed, and during an "inquiry"
by the convenience key system .
" If the check light does not come on, the bat ­
tery is dead a nd has to be replaced . In addi­

-You cannot open the doors or the rear lid
from the outside (increased security, for ex­
amp le when yo u are stopped at a red light).
- The diodes in the power loc king switc h illu­
minate when a ll the doors are closed and
l ocked.
- Front doors: you can un lock and open the
doors from the ins ide by p ulling on the door
hand le.
- Rea r doors: p ull the door handle once to re­
lease the lock. Pull the hand le again to open
the door.
- If you have a crash and the airbag is activat­
ed, the doors automatically un lock.
A WARNING
- The power locking sw itch works w ith the
ignition off and automatically locks the
entire vehicle when it is actua ted .
- On a vehicle locked from the outs ide the
power locking system switch is inopera­
t ive.
- Locked doors make it more diffic ult for
eme rg ency workers to get into th e vehi ­
cle, w hich puts lives at risk . Do not leave
anyone behi nd in the ve hicle, espe cially
ch ildren.

-Never close the rear lid inattentively or
without checking first. Although the
closing force of the rear lid is lim ited,
you can stfll seriously injure yourself or
o the rs.
- Always ensure that no one is w ithin
range of the rear lid when it is mov ing, in
part icu lar close to the hinges and the up­
per and lower edges -fingers or hands
can be pinched.
- To help preven t po isonous exha ust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al­
ways keep the rear lid closed while driv ­
ing. Never transport objects larger than
those which fit completely into the lug­ gage area, because then the rear lid can­
not be fully closed.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­ pecially with the rear lid left open. A
child could crawl into the car through the
luggage compartment and pull the lid
shut, becom ing trapped and unab le to
get out. To reduce the risk of persona l in­
jury, never let children p lay in or around
yo ur vehicle. A lways keep the rear lid as
well as the vehicle doors closed when not
in use .
- If there is a luggage rack or bicycle rack
mounted on the rear lid, it may not be
able to open completely or an opened
rear lid may close by itself because of the
added weight. So the open rear lid must
be supported or the weight must be re­
moved from the luggage rack first .
@ Tips
-When the vehicle is locked, the rear lid
can be unlocked separately by pressing
the button
~ on the master key. When
the rear lid is closed aga in, it locks auto­
matically.
- The following applies to veh icles equip­
ped with the conve nience key* feature: if
the remote contro l key is left in the lug­
gage compartment, luggage compart­ ment will a utomat ica lly unlock itse lf af-

ter you lock the vehicle. This prevents
you from unintentionally locking your
key in the l uggage compartment.
- If the vehicle battery charge drops be ­
low a certain level, you can still open or
close the rear lid manually, however, you
w ill need to apply more force to close it.
Sedan: Rear lid emergency release
Applies to vehicles: with fixed rear seat backrest

You can adj ust the settings for the rear sun
shade so the shade retracts automatica lly
when you select the reverse gear. To do this,

> Automatic rear blind > On . The
cur ren t setting is automatically stored and as­
signed to the remote key . Th e sun shade is ex­
tended again as soon as the vehicle is travel­
ing forward at a speed greater than 9 mph
(15 km/h) if the ignit ion has not been switch­
ed off in the meantime.
A WARNING
When lowering or raising the sunshade,
make sure there is nothing in its way and
that it has a free path to travel. This could
cause personal injury.

-Pressing the button~ several times
consecutive ly can trigger the overload
protect ion. The sun shade can only be ex­
tended/retracted aga in after a brief wait­
ing period.
- The rear window sun shade only func­
tions when the vehicle interior is warmer
than 14°F (-10°C) .

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
sponding position:
@-Windshield wiper off
G)-Interval mode . To ex tend/shorten the
wiper intervals, move the switch @to the
left/r ight. In vehicles w it h a rai n sensor* the
wipe rs turn on in the rain once the vehicle
speed exceeds approximately 2 mph (4 km/h) .
T he higher the sensitivity of the rain sensor * is
set (switch @to the right), the earlier the
windshield wipers react to moisture on the
w indshield. In some models, you can switch

~ Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and
automatically secures the beverage .
Closing cupholders
~ To close the cupholder, press on the center
section between the two arms and push the
cupholder in the slot as far as it will go.
A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving . In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
caus ing scald ing burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also ca use an accident and personal
injury.

-Use on ly soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupho lder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.

Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the c upholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and
can be locked.

Loading the roof rack
Always distribute loads evenly. J\llake sure
anything on the roof rock is securely tied
down.

before you drive off.
The maximum permissible roof weight is
200 lb (90 kg). The roof weight is the total of
the we ight of the roof rack, the attachments
and the cargo you are carrying. You must also not exceed the maximum load weight for the
roof rack you are using .
When using a roof rack system which has a
lower load carrying capacity, you must not use
up the total maximum permissible load carry­
ing capacity specified above. Instead, you
should load the roof rack system only to the
maximum capacity specified by the manufac­
turer of the roof rack system.
A WARNING
Weak, damaged or improper straps used
to secure items to the roof rack can fail
during hard braking or in a collision and
cause serious personal injury.
- Make sure the roof rack is installed exact­
ly as specified above

- Always use suitable mounting straps for
securing items to the roof rack to help
prevent items from shifting or flying for­
ward.
- Items on the roof rack must always be
securely mounted.
- The use of a roof rack can negative ly af­
fect the way a vehicle handles. Cargo
that is large, heavy, bulky, long or flat
will have a greater negative influence on

the vehicle's aerodynamics, center of
gravity and overall handling. Always
drive slowly, avoid sudden braking and maneuvers when transporting cargo on
the roof of your vehicle.
- Never exceed the maximum permissible
load carrying capacity of the roof of your
vehicle, the permissible axle weights and
the permissible total weight of your vehi­
cle

@ For the sake of the environment
As a result of the increased wind resist­
ance created by a roof rack, your vehicle is
using fuel unnecessarily. So remove the
roof rack after using it.
