There is a malfunction with the windshield
wipers.
Drive to your authorized Audi dealer immedi­
ately to have the malfunction corrected.
i§i l}D 10 $ Defective light bulb warning
I-If the indicator light turns on, a bulb has
failed. The message indicates the location of
the bulb.
II-if a fog lamp* has failed, the indicator
light turns on to indicate the location on the
vehicle.
a-if a rear fog lamp has failed, the indicator
light turns on to indicate the location on the
vehicle.
Vehicle lights: malfunction
If the message appears, there is a malfunc­
tion in the headlights or light switch .
Drive to your authorized Audi dealer immedi­
ately to have the malfunction corrected.
A WARNING

- Light bulbs are pressurized and could ex-
plode while they are being changed caus­
ing serious personal injury.
- Work with due care when handling the
high-voltage section of gas discharge
(xenon) lights. Failure to do so could re­
sult in death or serious injury.
Have the bulb replaced or the connection
repaired by your authorized Audi Service
department.
~(D Headlight range control
II Headlight range control: defective!
If the symbol illuminates, the headlight range
control is no longer working properly. Have
the system checked and repaired at your Audi
dealer.
§0 Adaptive Light
Applies to veh icles: w ith Adapt ive light
m;J Audi adaptive light: system fault
If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, there is a malfunction in the
adaptive light system. The headlights still
function.
Go to an authorized dealership to have the
headlights or the control unit for the Adaptive
Light repaired.
@.D Light /rain sen sor
l;I Automatic headlights/automatic wipers:
system fault
If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, the light/rain sensor is not
functioning correctly.
For safety reasons the low beams are turned
on permanently with the switch in
AUTO.
However, you can continue to turn the lights
on and off using the light switch. You can still
control all functions that are independent of
the rain sensor through the windshield wiper
lever .
Contact your authorized Audi dealer as soon
as possible to have the problem corrected.
@! Dynamic steering
l:rj Steering: system fault. you can continue
driving
If the indicator light turns on and the mes­
sage appears, the steering may be more diffi­
cult to move or more sensitive than usual. The
steering wheel may also be at an angle when driving straight. .,..

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
spond ing pos ition:
@ -Windshie ld w ipers

(D -Rain sensor mode. The w indshie ld w ipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds ap­
proximately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining.
The higher the rain sensor sensitivity is set
(switch @to the right), the earlier the w ind ­
shield wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shie ld. You can deact ivate rain sensor mode in
the MMI, which w ill then activate intermittent
mode. Select:

> Off . In intermittent mode, you can
adjust the interval time using the switch @.
@ -Slow wiping
@-Fast wiping
©-Single wipe. If you hold the lever in this
position longer, the wipers switch from slow
wiping to fast wip ing .
® -Clean the windshield . The wipers wipe
one time after several seconds of driving to remove water drop lets. You can switch this
function
off by moving the lever to position ®
within 10 seconds after the afterw ipe . The af­
terw ipe f unction is react ivated the next time
you switch the ig nition on.
Cleaning the headlights . The headlight wash­
er system* only functions when the headlights
are on . If you move the lever to position ®,

the headlights and the night vision system
camera* are washed in intervals .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only designed to assist
and support the driver.
It remains entire­
ly the driver's responsibility to monitor
outs ide weather cond itions and to man­
ually activate the wipers as soon as rain
or drizzle reduces visibility through the
windshie ld.
- The windsh ield must not be treated w ith
wate r-repellent mate rials. They can in­
crease glare unde r poo r vis ibility condi­
tions such a s wetness, d arkness, or w hen
the sun is low on the hori zon. In addi ­
tion, they can cause the w indshield wip­
ers to chatter.
- Properly f unctioning windshield wiper
blades are req uired for a clear v iew and
safe driving

- In the case of frost, check whether the
windshield wiper blades are frozen to
the windshield. Switching on the wind­
shield wipers can damage the wiper
blades!
- Prior to us ing a car wash, the w indshield
w iper system must be sw itched off ( lever
in posit ion @). T his he lps to prevent un­
intentional switching on and damage to
the windsh ield wiper system.
- Do not use the wipers to clear a frosted
w indow. Us ing the wipers as a conve n­
ient ice scrape r will destroy the wiper
blades.
(D Tips
- The windshield wipers are sw itched off
when the ign it ion is off . Activate the
w indshield wipe rs after the ignition is
switched back o n by movi ng the w ind­
shield wiper lever to any positi on.
- Worn or d irty wi ndshield wipe r blades
result in streaking. This ca n affec t the

- The washer fluid nozzles of the wind­
sh ield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when the ignition is on .
- When stopping temporarily, e .g . at a
traffic light, the set speed of the wind­
s h ield wipers is automatically red uced by
one speed.
Cleaning w indshield wiper blades
Clean the w indshield wiper blades when they
begin to leave streaks .

.. Use a soft cloth and glass cleaner to clean
the windsh ield wiper blades .

- Yo u should not move your veh icle or
press the windsh ield wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windshield. The windshield wipers wou ld
move back into their or iginal position
and could damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper sys­
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gaso line, kerosene, paint
thinne r, or other solvents on o r near the
w iper blades.

-To help prevent damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipers by hand .
@ Tips
-Commercial hot waxes applied by auto ­
matic car washes affect the cleanability
of the windshield.
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to protect the
windshield from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service pos ition
when the hood is open.
Mirrors
Adjusting the exterior mirrors

Turn the knob to the desired position :
Q/P -In this position, you can adjust the
driver's and front passenger's exter ior mirrors
by turn ing the knob in the desired direction.
@ -The mirrors are heated depending on the
outside temperature .
8 -The exterior mirrors fo ld in. In the MMI,
you can select if the mirrors fold in automati­
cally when you lock the vehicle

Tilt function for the passenger's mirror
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. The knob must be in the P position
for this to happen .
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction.
When you move out of reverse and into anoth- Clear vi

er gear, the new m irror position is stored and
assigned to the key you are using .
T he m irror goes back into its orig inal position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) o r switch the ignition off .
A WARNING
-
-Curved (i.e . convex) m irror surfaces in­
crease your field of view. Remember that
veh icles or other objects will appear
smaller and fart her away than when seen
in a flat mirror. If you use th is mirror to
estimate distances of following veh icles
when changing lanes, you could estimate
incor re ctl y and cause an accident.
(D Note
-If the mirror housing is moved uninten­
tionally (for examp le, while pa rking your
vehicle), then you must first fold the m ir­
ror elect rically. Do not readj ust the mir­
ror housing man ually. You could damage
the motor which controls the mirror .
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the ex ter ior mir­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors . Never fold power fo lding ex­
terior mirrors by hand . On ly fold them in
and out using the power controls.

- If there is a malfunction in the electrical
system, you can still adjust the exterior
mirrors by pressing the edge of the m ir­

Vehicle care and
cleaning
General information
Regular, proper care helps to maintain your
vehicle 's value. It can also be a requirement
when subm itting warranty claims for corro ­
sion damage and paint defects on the body .
The required cleaning and care products can be obtained from your authorized Audi dealer
or a qualified workshop. Read and follow the
instructions for use on the packaging .
A WARNING
-Us ing cleaning and care products incor­
rectly can be dangerous to your hea lth .
- Always store cleaning and care products
o ut of reach of children to reduce the r is k
of po ison ing.
@) For the sake of the environment
- Preferably use environmentally-friendly
products when buying cleaning agents .
- Do not d ispose of leftover cleaning and
ca re p rod ucts with household trash .
Car washes
-
The longer that deposits such as insects, bird
droppings , tree sap o r road salt rema in on the
ve hicle, the more the surface can be dam­
aged. High temperatures such as those
caused by s unligh t increase the corrosive ef­
fect.
Before washing, wet heavy deposits w ith p le n­
ty of water.
A lso, wash the underside of your vehicle once
road salt stops be ing used for the season .
Pressure wa sher s
When washing your vehicles w ith a pressure
washer, always follow the operating instruc­
tions provided w ith the pressure washer. Th is
is especially important in rega rd to the pres ­
sure and spray ing distance . Do not aim the
spray d irectly at seals on side w indows, doors, the hood, the
rear lid o r the sunroof* or at
tires, rubber hoses, insu lating material, sen­
sors * or camera lenses* . Keep a d istance of at
least 16 inches (40 cm).
Do not remove snow and ice with a pressu re
washer .
Never use rota ry no zzles or high pressure noz­
z les.
T he water temperature must not be above
140 °F (60 °C) .
Automatic car washes
Spray off the ve hicle before washing.
Make sure that the windows and roof * are
closed and the winds hield wipers are off . Fo l­
l ow instructions from the car wash operator,
especially if there are accessories attached to
your vehicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes .
Only use car washes where the vehicle re ­
mains stationary an d the washing equipment
moves aro und the vehicle when washing and
drying. Car washes that move the vehicle
t h rough the car wash using a chain are not
recommended.
Wa shing by hand
Clean the ve hicle starting from the top and
working down using a soft sponge or cleaning
brush. Use solvent-free clean ing products .
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint
by hand
To avoid damaging the paint when washing,
first remove dust and large particles from
your vehicle. Insects, grease spots and finger­
pr ints are best removed with a spec ial cleane r
for matte finish paint .
Apply the product us ing a microfiber cloth. To
avo id damaging the paint surface, do not use
too much pressure.
Rinse the vehicle thoroughly with water. Then
clean using a neutral shampoo and a soft mi-
crofiber cloth. ..,.
