Turn the knob to the desired position:
Q/ P -In th is position , you can adjust the

by turning the knob in the des ired direc tion.

P assenger exter ior mirro r tilt function*
To help yo u see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mi rror tilts
slightly . The knob must be in the P posit ion
for this to happen .
You can adjus t the tilted mirror sur face by
turn ing the knob in the des ired direction .
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
e r gear, the new mirror posit ion is stored a nd
assig ned to t he key you are using.
T he mirror goes back into its origina l posit io n
once yo u drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or switch the ignition off .
_& WARNING
Curved mirror sur faces (convex or sp he ri­
c al *) in cre ase yo ur field o f view. Remem­
ber that vehicles or o ther objects will ap­
pear smaller and farther away than when
seen in a flat m irror. If you use this mirror
to estimate distances of following veh icles
w hen changing lanes, you co uld estimate
incorrectly and cause an accide nt.

car wash, yo u m ust fold the exterior m ir­
rors in to reduce the r isk of damage to
the mirrors.

wit h asthma or o ther resp iratory co ndi­
tions . Ge t fresh a ir immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle o r, if tha t is no t possib le,
open w indows and doors all the way.
- If electroly te gets in to the eyes, f lush
them thorough ly with large amounts of
clean water for at least 15 minutes;
medical attention is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, fl ush affect­
ed area with clean water for at least 15

wit h soap and water; medical attention
is recommended. Thoroughly wash af­
fected cloth ing and shoes before re use .

-If swallowed and person is conscious,
rinse mouth with water for at least 15
minutes. Do not induce vomiting unless
instructed to do so by medical professio­
nal. Get medical attention immediately.

Liquid electrolyte leaking from broken mir­
ror glass will damage any plastic surfaces
it comes in contact with. Clean up spilled
electrolyte immediately with clean water
and a sponge.
@ Tips
- Switching off the dimming function of
the inside rear view mirror also deacti­
vates the automatic dimming function of
the exterior mirrors.
-Automatic dimming for the mirror only
operates properly if the sun shade* for
the rear window is not in use or the light
striking the inside mirror is not hindered
by other objects.
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not
dim when the interior lighting is turned
on or the reverse gear is selected.
Sun visors

can be pulled out of their brackets in the cen­
ter of the vehicle and turned towards the
doors

Sun shade

The rear window is equipped with a sun
shade.

.. To extend/retract the sun shade, press the
~ button c::> fig. 43 or c::> fig. 44 .
You can adjust the settings for the rear sun
shade so the shade retracts automatically
when you select the reverse gear. To do this,
select the
I CAR I function button > Windows >
Rear blind> automatic> on or I CAR I function
button
> Car systems* control button > Vehi­
cle settings> Automatic rear blind > On .
The
current setting is automatically stored and as­
signed to the remote key. The sun shade is ex­
tended again as soon as the vehicle is travel­ ing forward at a speed greater than 9 mph
(15 km/h) if the ignition has not been switch­
ed off in the meantime.

= When lowering or raising the sunshade,
make sure there is nothing in its way and
that it has a free path to travel. This could
cause personal injury.

-To help prevent damage to the wiper sys ­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windsh ield before operat ing
wipers.
- To he lp prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline , kerosene, pa int
th inner, or other solvents on or near the
wipe r blades.

arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipers by hand.

- Commerc ial hot waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned .
- You can also use the service pos ition, for
example, if you want to protect the
windsh ield from ic ing by using a cover .
Digital compass
Switching the compass on and off

The compass direction is shown in the rear­
view mirror.

tion is on. The direct ions are indicated with

Adjusting the magnetic zone

A WARNING
- To avoid endangering yourself and other
dr ivers, calibrate the compass in an area
where there is no traffic .
- The digita l compass is to be used as a di­
rect ional aid only . Even though you may
want to look at it wh ile you are driving,
yo u must st ill pay attention to traffic,
road and weathe r cond it ions as well as
other poss ible hazards.

to brake or accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's v iew. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang any clothing w ith hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects cou ld injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle .
- To reduce the r isk of personal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and fo llow all WARN INGS
¢ page 156, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision .
- T he coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause personal injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the
side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudde n stop.
- Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury in the event of
sudden braking maneuvers or a col lision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
aga inst the rear w indow cou ld damage the
heating wires for t he rear w indow defog­
ger.

Roof rack
Description and mounting location s
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

vided by the roof rack manufacturer when
installing the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the fo llowing:
- On ly use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system . Additiona l
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment. We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations

in the respective mirror turns on, but is d im. T
he display remains dim intentionally in the
information stage so that your view toward
the front is not disturbed .
Warning stage
If you activate the turn signal, s ide ass ist
warns you about vehicles that are detected
and class ified as critical. The display in the re­
spective mirror blinks brightly . If this hap­
pens, check traffic by glancing in the rearview
mirror and over your shoulder

102 Audi side assist
-Improper reliance on the side assist sys­
tem can cause collisions and serious
personal injury:
- Never rely only on side assist when
changing lanes.
- Always check rear view mirrors to make
sure that it is safe to change lanes.
- Side assist cannot detect all vehicles un­
der all conditions- danger of accident!
- Please note that side assist indicates
there are approaching vehicles, or
vehicles in your blind spot, only after
your vehicle has reached a driving speed
of at least 19 mph (30 km/h).
- In certain situations, the system may not
function or its function may be limited.
For example:
- if vehicles are approaching or being left
behind very quickly . The display may
not turn on in time.
- in poor weather conditions such as
heavy rain, snow or heavy mist .
- on very wide lanes, in tight curves or if
there is a rise in the road surface.
Vehicles in the adjacent lane may not
be detected because they are outside
of the sensor range.
(D Note
The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. This can affect the system.
Have your authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility check their
function.

- If the window glass in the driver's door
or front passenger's door has been tint­
ed, the display in the exterior mirror may
be misinterpreted.

Adjusting the display brightness

The display brightness adjusts automatically
to the brightness of the surroundings, both in
the information and in the warning stage . In
very dark or very bright surroundings, the dis­ play is already set to the minimum or maxi­
mum level by the automatic adjustment. In
such cases, you may notice no change when
adjusting the brightness, or the change may
only be noticeable once the surroundings
change.
Adjust the brightness to a level where the dis­
play in the information stage will not disrupt
your view forward. If you change the bright­
ness, the display in the exterior mirror will
briefly show the brightness level in the infor­
mation stage. The brightness of the warning
stage is linked to the brightness in the infor ­
mation stage and is adjusted along with the
information stage adjustment.

When there is an obstacle (such as a wall)
next to the parking spot, choose a spot with
more space on the sides. Position the long
side of the blue area so that there i s sufficien t
space from the curb . The area must not be on
the curb . You w ill also need to start turning
the steeri ng whee l much ear lie r. T he re should
be a suffic ien t amo unt of space between the
curb and the b lue curve, and the blue c urve

entire area behind the vehicle

yo u should not use the help lines to he lp
with park ing, which poses danger of an
