REFUELLING THE
CAR
IN BRIEF
The car features the "Fast Fuel"
system, which prevents refuelling
with incorrect fuels (e.g. diesel for a
petrol engine).
Stop the engine before refuelling.
Only refuel with unleaded petrol with
octane rating (RON) not less than
95, in compliance with the European
specification EN228. In particular,
the 4C’s engine has been designed
to comply with all emission limits
while simultaneously guaranteeing
minimal consumption and maximum
performance, using premium-quality
unleaded petrol with octane rating
(RON) of 98 or higher.
In order to prevent damage to the
catalytic converter never introduce
even the smallest amount of leaded
petrol, even in the event of an
emergency.
IMPORTANT An inefficient catalytic
converter leads to harmful exhaust
emissions, thus contributing to air
pollution. IMPORTANT Never introduce leaded
petrol to the tank, even in small
amounts in an emergency, as this
would damage the catalytic converter
beyond repair.
FILLING THE TANK
To ensure that you fill the tank
completely, top up twice after the first
click of the fuel supply gun. Avoid
further top-ups, which could cause
faults in the fuel supply system.
REFUELLING
PROCEDURE
The car features a "Fast Fuel" device,
integrated with the opening for the fuel
tank: it opens and recloses
automatically when the fuel supply gun
is inserted/removed.
The "Fast Fuel" device is provided with
an inhibitor which prevents refuelling
with incorrect fuel.
The refuelling procedure described
below is illustrated on the label fig. 56
located inside the fuel flap. The label
also indicates the fuel type (UNLEADED
FUEL=petrol).
Procedure
❒
open flap A fig. 57, pulling it
outwards;
❒ introduce the dispenser in the filler
and refuel;
❒ after refuelling, before removing the
dispenser, wait for at least 10
seconds in order for the fuel to flow
inside the tank;
❒ then remove the dispenser from the
filler and close flap A.
Flap A fig. 57 is provided with a dust
cover gaiter B which prevents deposits
of impurities and dust at the end of
the filler when the flap is closed.

❒Average speed B
❒ Trip time B (driving time).
“Trip B” may be disabled (see "Trip B
Activation/Data (Trip B enablement)"
paragraph). The “Range” and “Instant
consumption" values cannot be reset.
VALUES DISPLAYED
Range
This indicates the approximate distance
that can still be travelled with the fuel
in the tank, assuming that driving style
remains unvaried.
The display will show the reading “- - -
-” when the following events take place:
❒ range value lower than 50 km (or 30
mi)
❒ car parked with engine running for a
long period.
IMPORTANT The range value variation
can be affected by several factors:
driving style, type of route (motorway,
urban, mountain roads, etc.), conditions
of use (load, tyre pressures, etc.). Trip
planning must therefore take the above
into account. Distance travelled
This value shows the distance covered
from the start of the new journey.
Average consumption
This value shows the approximate
average fuel consumption from the start
of the new journey.
Instant consumption
This value shows the instant fuel
consumption. The value is constantly
updated. The display will show “----”
if the car is parked with the engine
running.
Average speed
This value shows the car's average
speed based on the overall time
elapsed since the start of the new
journey.
Trip time
Time elapsed since the start of the new
journey.
Indications on display
Each time a value is selected, the
following information is shown:
❒
the word “Trip” (or “Trip A” or “Trip B”)
(A fig. 62);
❒ name, value and unit of measure of
the selected value (e.g. "Range 520
km") (B fig. 62).
After a few seconds, the name of the
selected value is replaced by the
corresponding icon (see example fig.
63).
TRIP RESET button
The TRIP RESET button is located on
the right stalk fig. 64. With the ignition
key at MAR-ON, it allows you to view
the values described previously and
also reset them to begin a new journey:
❒ brief press: display various values;

FUEL CONSUMPTIONThe fuel consumption values given in the table below are determined on the basis of the type-approval tests laid down by
specific European Directives.
The procedures below are followed for measuring consumption:
❒urban cycle: cold starting followed by driving that simulates urban use of the car;
❒ extra-urban cycle: frequent acceleration in all gears, simulating extra-urban use of the car: speed varies between 0 and
120 km/h;
❒ combined consumption: calculated with a weighting of approximately 37% of the urban cycle and 63% of the extra-urban
cycle.
IMPORTANT The type of route, traffic conditions, weather conditions, driving style, general condition of the car, trim level/
equipment/accessories, use of the climate control system, car load, presence of roof racks and other situations that adversely
affect the aerodynamics or wind resistance lead to different fuel consumption values than those measured.
