If the statuses do not operate as explained above, check the connection and condition of the parking brake
control lever connector.
Repair if necessary.
With the parking brake control lever connector disconnected, check for earth on track 2 of the lever connector.
Repair if necessary.
Check the connections and condition of the electronic parking brake computer connectors and their clips
(terminals) and its intermediate connector (under front left-hand seat).
With the parking brake control lever connector disconnected, check the insulation, continuity and absence of
interference resistance on the following connection:
Parking brake lever connector: 1216Electronic parking brake computer: 1217
track 4 track D3
Repair if necessary.
If the fault is still present, check the release switch.
Lever in rest position: insulation between tracks 2 and 4 of the lever,
Lever fully applied and release switch pressed: continuity between tracks 2 and 4 of the lever.
Replace the parking brake control lever if it does not function as indicated (see Replacement of components,
Part A/ Procedure for replacing the electronic parking brake computer) (see MR405 (Espace IV) or MR395
(Laguna II) or MR370 (Scénic), Mechanical, 37B, Electronic parking brake, Lever: Removal - Refitting or
MR353 (Vel Satis), Mechanical, 37B, Automatic parking brake, Lever).
If the fault persists, contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRIf the computer has been replaced (at the request of the Techline), initialise the
electronic parking brake computer (see Replacement of components).
Issue several braking and release commands to confirm the repair.
Deal with any other faults.

PRESENT
OR
STOREDMULTIPLEX NETWORK
1. DEF: Problem receiving multiplex frames by the parking brake computer. The
computer is not receiving any multiplex signals or else two computers are not
communicating with the parking brake computer
NOTESPriorities when dealing with a number of faults:
Deal first with faults DF003 (1.DEF; 2.DEF), DF004, DF028, DF029, DF041, DF042,
DF043, DF050, DF055, DF057, DF058 and DF073.
Deal with any faults on the multiplex network first (see 88B, Multiplexing).
Conditions for applying the fault finding procedure to a stored fault:
Apply this fault finding procedure if the fault reappears as present after the ignition
has been switched on (forced + after ignition feed, see Introduction).
Special notes:
This fault indicates either a complete absence of multiplex signal transmission (no
inconsistency) to the parking brake control unit, or no multiplex signal transmission
from two computers (the continuity of the multiplex network lines may be correct, but if
two computers fail to respond, this fault appears).
The fault does not usually come from the electronic parking brake computer.
Note:
Using another battery for a boost when starting may trigger this fault.
Only for Vdiag 08, 0C and 0D:
If there is a stored fault, refer to the statuses and parameters when it appears.
Explanation of counters: see Introduction.
If the fault is stored and PR018 = 0 and PR022 > 25 clear the fault: do not take this
fault into account.
AFTER REPAIRIf the computer has been replaced (at the request of the Techline), initialise the
electronic parking brake computer (see Replacement of components).
Issue several braking and release commands to confirm the repair.
Deal with any other faults.

Check that an additional booster battery has not been used when starting, if this is the case, this fault may appear.
Use the diagnostic tool to carry out a multiplex system test.
This check ensures that the various multiplex system connections are correct and finds any faulty segments.
Carry out any necessary repairs.
If the multiplex system test has not made it possible to find the defective connection, disconnect the electronic
parking brake computer connector to check it is in good condition and check the condition of the clips (terminals)
and in particular the clips for tracks A2 and A3.
Replace the clips if necessary.
With the electronic parking brake computer connector disconnected, check the insulation, continuity and the
absence of interference resistance on the connections between tracks A2 and A3 of the electronic parking
brake computer and the following computers:
– anti-lock braking system (see diagram of the various computers),
– injection (see diagram of the different computers),
– automatic transmission (see diagram of the different computers),
– UCH (see diagram of the different computers),
– Protection and Switching Unit (see diagram of the different computers).
Repair if necessary.
If the fault persists, contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRIf the computer has been replaced (at the request of the Techline), initialise the
electronic parking brake computer (see Replacement of components).
Issue several braking and release commands to confirm the repair.
Deal with any other faults.

PRESENT
OR
STOREDNO PROTECTION AND SWITCHING UNIT MULTIPLEX SIGNAL
1. DEF: Multiplex signals absent or values invalid (fault with the computer generating
the signal or multiplex line connection fault)
NOTESPriority when dealing with a number of faults:
Deal with faults DF055 Battery undervoltage and DF052 Multiplex network first if
they are present or stored.
Deal with any Protection and Switching Unit computer faults first.
The fault does not usually come from the electronic parking brake computer.
Conditions for applying the fault finding procedure to a stored fault:
Apply this fault finding procedure if the fault reappears as present or stored after it has
been cleared, the ignition has been switched back on (forced + after ignition feed:
see Introduction), and the parking brake is released then applied using the control
lever.
Special notes:
This fault only relates to multiplex signals received from the Protection and
Switching Unit computer.
This fault indicates either that there is no signal or that the signals transmitted are
inconsistent.
Note:
If a multiplex line fault such as this is present, the electronic parking brake computer
may lose all or some of its assisted parking functions (application and release).
If there is a stored fault, refer to the statuses and parameters when it appears.
Explanation of counters: see Introduction section.
If the fault is stored and PR018 = 0 and PR022 > 25, clear the fault:
do not take this fault into account.
AFTER REPAIRIf the computer has been replaced (at the request of the Techline), initialise the
electronic parking brake computer (see Replacement of components).
Issue several braking and release commands to confirm the repair.
Deal with any other faults.

Fault finding – Conformity check
MAIN SCREEN
NOTESOnly carry out this conformity check after carrying out a complete check using the
diagnostic tool.
Application conditions: ignition on (forced + after ignition, see Introduction)
Note:
The interpretation of these statuses and parameters is only valid with the
ignition switched on, the statuses and parameters displayed in blue on the
diagnostic tool is information supplied by other computers, which are transmitted via
the multiplex network. If these variables display inconsistent values, make sure that
the multiplex system test has not shown up any faulty connections. Repair the faulty
multiplex connections before looking for a possible problem with the signals.
Each sub-function in this test is associated with a Fault finding chart.
Special notes:
The diagnostic tool may display the message Computer busy when displaying
statuses and parameters. This message is displayed when the parking brake is
applying or releasing the brake, because the computer gives priority to controlling the
motor before transmitting variables. If this message is displayed, exit the current
screen and then return to it.
