1. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº position
where theignition switchposition indicator willnot
illuminate.
2. Open orclose thedoor. Theignition switchturns
to the ªLOCKº position.
3. Turn thesteering wheel1/6ofaturn tothe right or
left from thestraight upposition.

Push theignition switch,andthesteering wheelwillbe
automatically unlocked.
CAUTION:
. Ifthe battery ofthe vehicle isdischarged, the
push-button ignitionswitchcannot be
switched fromtheªLOCKº position.
. Ifthe steering lockrelease malfunction
indicator appearsonthe vehicle information
display, pushtheignition switchagainwhile
rotating thesteering wheelslightly tothe
right andleft.

WARNING:
Never placetheignition switchinthe ªOFFº
position whiledriving. Thesteering wheelmay
lock andcause thedriver tolose control ofthe
vehicle, resulting inserious vehicledamage or
personal injury.
CAUTION:
. Do not leave thevehicle forextended
periods oftime when theignition switchis
in the ªONº position andtheengine isnot
running. Thiscandischarge thebattery.
. Use electrical accessories withtheengine
running toavoid discharging thevehicle
battery. Ifyou must useaccessories while
the engine isnot running, donot use them
for extended periodsoftime anddonot use
multiple electrical accessories atthe same
time.

When theignition switchispushed withoutdepressing
the brake pedal (Continuously Variable Transmission model)
orthe clutch pedal(Manual Transmission
model) ,the ignition switchwillilluminate.
Push theignition switchcenter:
. once tochange toªONº .
. twotimes tochange toªOFFº .
The ignition switchwillautomatically returntothe
ªL OCKº position whenanydoor iseither opened or
closed withtheswitch inthe OFF position.

only belocked atthis position.
The ignition switchwilllock when anydoor isopened
or closed withtheignition switched off.
ON position

The ignition systemandtheelectrical accessory power
activate atthis position withouttheengine turnedon.
The ªONº position hasabattery saverfeature thatwill
place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº position, ifthe
vehicle isnot running, aftersome timeunder the
following conditions:
. alldoors areclosed.
. shift lever isin ªPº (Park) position (CVTmodel) or
ªNº (Neutral) position(MTmodel) .
The battery saverfeature willbecancelled ifany ofthe
following occur:
. anydoor isopened.
. shift lever ismoved outofthe ªPº (Park) position.
. ignition switchchanges position.
