Maintenance and care
■Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by your
Lexus dealer.
●Headlights
●Parking lights and daytime running lights
●Front side marker lights
●Side turn signal lights
●Stop/tail lights
●Tail lights
●Rear side marker lights
●High mounted stoplight
●License plate lights
●Outer foot lights
■Discharge headlights
If voltage to the discharge bulbs is insufficient, the bulbs may not come on, or may go
out temporarily. The discharge bulbs will come on when normal power is restored.
■LED light bulbs
The lights other than the headlights, fog ligh ts (if equipped), front turn signal lights,
rear turn signal lights, back-up lights and outer foot lights each consist of a number of
LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take your vehicle to your Lexus dealer to have the
light replaced.
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Contact your Lexus dealer for more information in the following situations. Tempo-
rary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction.
●Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.

CAUTION
■Replacing light bulbs
●Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after turning
off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. Hold the bulb by
the plastic or metal portion.
If the bulb is scratched or drop ped, it may blow out or crack.
●Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so may
result in heat damage, fire, or water en tering the headlight unit. This may damage
the headlights or cause condensati on to build up on the lens.
●While the headlights are turned on, and for
a short time after they have been turned off,
metal components at the rear of the head-
light assembly will be extremely hot. To pre-
vent burns, do not touch these metal
components until you are certain they have
cooled down.

CAUTION
■Discharge headlights
●Contact your Lexus dealer before replacing the discharge headlights (including
light bulbs).
●Do not touch the discharge headlight’s high voltage socket when the headlights
are turned on.
An extremely high voltage of 30000 V wi ll be discharged and could result in
death or serious injury by electric shock.
●Do not attempt to take apart or repair the headlight bulbs, connectors, power
supply circuits, or related components.
Doing so could result in electric shock and death or serious injury.
■To prevent damage or fire
●Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
●Check the wattage of the bulb before installing to prevent heat damage.

When trouble arises
■Starting the engine when the battery is discharged
The engine cannot be started by push-starting.
■To prevent battery discharge
●Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the engine is off.
●Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic.
■Charging the battery
The electricity stored in the battery will discharge gradually even when the vehicle is
not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of certain electrical
appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the battery may discharge, and the
engine may be unable to star t. (The battery recharges automatically during driving.)
■When recharging or replacing the battery
●Make sure the key is not inside the vehicle when recharging or replacing the bat-
tery to prevent the doors from being lock ed with the key left inside the vehicle
when the alarm operates.
●In some cases, it may not be possible to unlock the doors using the smart access
system with push-button start when the battery is discharged. Use the wireless
remote control or the mechanical key to lock or unlock the doors.
●The engine may not start on the first attempt after the battery has recharged but
will start normally after the second attempt. This is not a malfunction.
●The engine switch mode is memorized by the vehicle. When the battery is recon-
nected, the system will return to the mode it was in before the battery was dis-
charged. Before disconnecting the ba ttery, turn the engine switch off.
If you are unsure what mode the engine switch was in before the battery dis-
charged, be especially careful when reconnecting the battery.
