Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
Do not adjust the position of the driver’s seat while driving.
Doing so could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Do not place a cushion between the driver or passenger and the seatback.
A cushion may prevent correct posture from being achieved, and reduce the
effectiveness of the seat belt and head restraint.
Do not place anything under the front seats.
Objects placed under the front seats may become jammed in the seat tracks
and stop the seat from locking in place. This may lead to an accident and the
adjustment mechanism may also be damaged.
When driving over long distances, take regular breaks before you start to feel
tired.
Also, if you feel tired or sleepy while driving, do not force yourself to con-
tinue driving and take a break immediately.

Hybrid battery (traction battery)
Never resell, hand over or modify the hybrid battery. To prevent accidents,
hybrid batteries that have been removed from a disposed vehicle are collected
through Lexus dealer. Do not dispose of the battery yourself.
Unless the battery is properly collected, the following may occur, resulting in
death or serious injury:
• The hybrid battery may be illegally disposed of or dumped, and it is haz-
ardous to the environment or someone may touch a high voltage part,
resulting in an electric shock.
• The hybrid battery is intended to be used exclusively with your hybrid
vehicle. If the hybrid battery is used outside of your vehicle or modified in
any way, accidents such as electric shock, heat generation, smoke genera-
tion, an explosion and electrolyte leakage may occur.
When reselling or handing over your vehicle, the possibility of an accident is
extremely high because the person receiving the vehicle may not be aware of
these dangers.
If your vehicle is disposed of without the hybrid battery having been
removed, there is a danger of serious electric shock if high voltage parts,
cables and their connectors are touched. In the event that your vehicle must be
disposed of, the hybrid battery must be disposed of by any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional or a
qualified service shop. If the hybrid battery is not disposed of properly, it may
cause electric shock that can result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
Hybrid battery air vent
Do not put foreign objects near the air vent. The hybrid battery (traction bat-
tery) may overheat and be damaged.
Clean the air vent regularly to prevent the hybrid battery (traction battery)
from overheating.
Do not wet or allow foreign substances to enter the air vent as this may cause
a short circuit and damage the hybrid battery (traction battery).
Do not carry large amounts of water such as water cooler bottles in the vehi-
cle. If water spills onto the hybrid battery (traction battery), the battery may
be damaged. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

Note for a smart entry & start system (if equipped)
If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effective
range, the door may lock and unlock repeatedly. Place the key in a position 2 m
(6 ft.) or more separate from the vehicle while the vehicle is being washed. (Take
care to ensure that the key is not stolen.)
Aluminum wheels
Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent. Do not use hard
brushes or abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemical cleaners.
Use the same mild detergent and wax as used on the paint.
Do not use detergent on the wheels when they are hot, for example after driving
for long distance in the hot weather.
Wash detergent from the wheels immediately after use.
Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
Front side windows water-repellent coating
The following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repellent
coating.
• Remove any dirt, etc. from the front side windows regularly.
• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumulate on the windows for a long period.
Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.
• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that contain abrasives when cleaning the
windows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
When the water-repellent performance has become insufficient, the coating can
be repaired. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional.
Restoration work for rain clearing effect of the rain clearing mirror (if equipped)
The rain clearing effect on the mirror surface will gradually recover after expo-
sure to sunlight (P. 176). However, if you want to restore the effect immedi-
ately, conduct the following procedures:
Apply water to the mirror surface to wash the dirt away from it.
Remove the dirt by using a clean, soft and wet cloth.
Clean the mirror surface with glass cleaner or detergent. When detergent is
used, rinse the mirror surface with a lot of water.
Wipe water on the mirror surface by using a clean and soft cloth, ect.
Park your vehicle outdoors to expose the mirror surface to sunlight for about 5
hours. (The restoration time differs depending on the amount and type of dirt.)

Maintenance requirements
Scheduled maintenance should be performed at specified intervals
according to the maintenance schedule.
For full details of your maintenance schedule, refer to the “Lexus Service
Booklet” or “Lexus Warranty Booklet”.
What about do-it-yourself maintenance?
Many maintenance items are easy to do yourself if you have a little mechani-
cal ability and a few basic automotive tools.
Note, however, that some maintenance tasks require special tools and skills.
These are best performed by qualified technicians. Even if you’re an experi-
enced do-it-yourself mechanic, we recommend that repairs and maintenance
be conducted by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qual-
ified and equipped professional. Any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer will
keep a record of maintenance, which could be useful should you ever require
Warranty Service. Should you choose to select a qualified and equipped pro-
fessional other than an authorized Lexus repairer to service or maintain your
vehicle, we recommend that you request that a record of maintenance be kept.
To ensure safe and economical driving, day-to-day care and regular
maintenance are essential. Lexus recommends the following mainte-
nance:

Used engine oil
Used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause
skin disorders such as inflammation and skin cancer, so care should be taken
to avoid prolonged and repeated contact. To remove used engine oil from
your skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
Dispose of used oil and filters only in a safe and acceptable manner. Do not
dispose of used oil and filters in household trash, in sewers or onto the
ground. Call any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly quali-
fied and equipped professional, service station or auto parts store for informa-
tion concerning recycling or disposal.
Do not leave used engine oil within the reach of children.
NOTICE
To prevent serious engine damage
Check the oil level on a regular basis.
When replacing the engine oil
Be careful not to spill engine oil on the vehicle components.
Avoid overfilling, or the engine could be damaged.
Check the oil level on the dipstick every time you refill the vehicle.
Be sure the engine oil filler cap is properly tightened.
