TRUNK SAFETY
WARNINGWARNING!
Do not allow children to have ac-
cess to the trunk, either by climbing
into the trunk from outside, or
through the inside of the vehicle.
Always close the trunk lid when
your vehicle is unattended. Once in
the trunk, young children may not
be able to escape, even if they en-
tered through the rear seat. If
trapped in the trunk, children can
die from suffocation or heat stroke.
TRUNK INTERNAL
EMERGENCY RELEASE
As a security measure, a Trunk Inter-
nal Emergency Release lever is built
into the trunk latching mechanism. In
the event of an individual being
locked inside the trunk, the trunk can
be simply opened by pulling on the
glow-in-the-dark handle attached to
the trunk latching mechanism. OCCUPANT RESTRAINTS
Some of the most important safety
features in your vehicle are the re-
straint systems:
 Three-point lap and shoulder belts
for all seating positions
 Advanced Front Air Bags for driver and front passenger
 Supplemental Active Head Re- straints (AHR) located on top of the
front seats (integrated into the head
restraint)
 Supplemental Seat-Mounted Side Air Bags (SAB)
 An energy-absorbing steering col- umn and steering wheel  Knee bolsters/blockers for front
seat occupants
 Front seat belts incorporate preten- sioners that may enhance occupant
protection by managing occupant
energy during an impact event
 Rear passenger seat belts include Automatic Locking Retractors
(ALRs), which lock the seat belt
webbing into position by extending
the belt all the way out and then
adjusting the belt to the desired
length to restrain a child seat or
secure a large item in a seat.
Please pay close attention to the infor-
mation in this section. It tells you how
to use your restraint system properly,
to keep you and your passengers as
safe as possible.
If you will be carrying children too
small for adult-sized seat belts, the
seat belts or the ISOFIX feature also
can be used to hold infant and child
restraint systems. For more informa-
tion, refer to ISOFIX — Child Seat
Anchorage System.

If you activate the washer while the
wiper control is in the off position, the
wipers will operate for two wipe cycles
and then turn off.WARNING!
Sudden loss of visibility through
the windshield could lead to a col-
lision. You might not see other ve-
hicles or other obstacles. To avoid
sudden icing of the windshield dur-
ing freezing weather, warm the
windshield with defroster before
and during windshield washer use.
MIST FEATURE
Push down on the wiper control lever
to activate a single wipe to clear the
windshield of road mist or spray from
a passing vehicle. As long as the lever
is held down, the wipers will continue
to operate.
NOTE:
The mist feature does not
activate the washer pump; therefore,
no washer fluid will be sprayed on
the windshield. The wash function
must be used in order to spray the
windshield with washer fluid.
HEADLIGHTS WITH
WIPERS FEATURE
(AVAILABLE WITH
AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS
ONLY)When this feature is active, the head-
lights will turn on approximately
10 seconds after the wipers are turned
on if the multifunction lever (on the
left side of the steering column) is
placed in the AUTO position. In addi-
tion, the headlights will turn off when
the wipers are turned off if they were
turned on by this feature.
The headlights with wipers feature
can be turned on or off through the
Electronic Vehicle Information Center
(EVIC). Refer to “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)/Personal
Settings (Customer-Programmable
Features)” in “Understanding Your
Instrument Panel” for further infor-
mation.
TILT/TELESCOPING
STEERING COLUMN
This feature allows you to tilt the
steering column upward or down-
ward. It also allows you to lengthen or
shorten the steering column. The tilt/
telescoping lever is located below the
steering wheel at the end of the steer-
ing column.
To unlock the steering column, push
the lever downward. To tilt the steer-
ing column, move the steering wheel
upward or downward as desired.

To lengthen or shorten the steering
column, pull the steering wheel out-
ward or push it inward as desired. To
lock the steering column in position,
pull the lever upward until fully en-
gaged.WARNING!
Do not adjust the steering column
while driving. Adjusting the steer-
ing column while driving or driving
with the steering column unlocked,
could cause the driver to lose con-
trol of the vehicle. Failure to follow
this warning may result in serious
injury or death.
ELECTRONIC SPEED
CONTROL
When engaged, the Electronic Speed
Control takes over accelerator opera-
tions at speeds greater than 40 km/h.
The Electronic Speed Control buttons
are located on the right side of the
steering wheel. NOTE: In order to ensure proper
operation, the Electronic Speed
Control System has been designed
to shut down if multiple Speed
Control functions are operated at
the same time. If this occurs, the
Electronic Speed Control System
can be reactivated by pushing the
Electronic Speed Control ON/OFF
button and resetting the desired
vehicle set speed.TO ACTIVATE
Push the ON/OFF button. The Cruise
Indicator Light in the instrument
cluster will illuminate. To turn the
system off, push the ON/OFF button
a second time. The Cruise Indicator
Light will turn off. The system should
be turned off when not in use.
WARNING!
Leaving the Electronic Speed Con-
trol system on when not in use is
dangerous. You could accidentally
set the system or cause it to go
faster than you want. You could
lose control and have an accident.
Always leave the system OFF when
you are not using it.
TO SET A DESIRED SPEED
Turn the Electronic Speed Control
ON. When the vehicle has reached the
desired speed, press the SET (-) but-
ton and release. Release the accelera-
tor and the vehicle will operate at the
selected speed.

serted into any 12 Volt outlet.

 Close the lid when not in use and while driving the vehicle.
If this outlet is mishandled, it may

 Many accessories that can be
plugged in draw power from the
vehicle's battery, even when not
in use (i.e., cellular phones, etc.).
Eventually, if plugged in long
enough, the vehicle's battery will
discharge sufficiently to degrade
battery life and/or prevent the
engine from starting.
 Accessories that draw higher power (i.e., coolers, vacuum
cleaners, lights, etc.) will degrade
the battery even more quickly.
Only use these intermittently and
with greater caution.

 After the use of high power draw accessories, or long periods of the
vehicle not being started (with
accessories still plugged in), the
vehicle must be driven a suffi-
cient length of time to allow the
generator to recharge the vehi-

fit in the center console front cup-
holder.
The optional ash receiver also comes
with a cigar lighter that can be used
with the power outlets. Refer to “Elec-

ing The Features Of Your Vehicle” for

FRONT SEAT CUPHOLDER
The cupholder in the center console
will accommodate either two large
size cups or two 0.5 L bottles or cans.
The one-piece insert can be removed
easily for cleaning. An optional re-
movable ashtray may be located in
one of the cupholders.
