Take care to avoid leaving anything in contact with the cour tesy lamps.
With the "permanent lighting" mode, the lighting time varies according to the circumstances:- with the ignition off, approximatelyten minutes,- in energy economy mode, approximately thirty seconds,
-with the hybrid system active, unlimited.

- when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the electronic key is removed from
the reader,
- when opening a door,
- when the remote control locking button is
activated, in order to locate your vehicle.

177Child safety
The incorrect installation of a child seat in a
vehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of an accident. Ensure that there is no seat belt or seat beltbuckle under the child seat, as this coulddestabilise it.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack relative to the child's body to a minimum, even for shor t journeys.
When installing a child seat using the seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is tightenedcorrectly on the child seat and that it secures the child seat firmly on the seat of your vehicle. If your passenger seat is adjustable, move it for wards if necessary. At rear seating positions, always leavesufficient space between the front seat and:


- a "rear wards facing" child seat,

- the child's feet for a child seat fitted"forwards facing".

Installing a booster seat
The chest par t of the seat belt must bepositioned on the child's shoulder without touching the neck.Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt
passes correctly over the child's thighs.CITROËN recommends the use of a booster seat which has a back, fitted with a seat beltguide at shoulder level.
As a safety precaution, do not leave: - a child or children alone and unsupervised in a vehicle, - a child or an animal in a vehicle whichis exposed to the sun, with the windows closed, - the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle. To prevent accidental opening of the doors and rear windows, use the "Child lock". Take care not to open the rear windows bymore than one third.To protect young children from the rays of the sun, fit side blinds on the rear windows.

To do this, move the front seat for wards
and, if necessary, move its backrest into the upright position.
For optimum installation of the "forwards-facing" child seat, ensure that the back of thechild seat is in contact with the back of the vehicle's seat and remove the head restraint.
Ensure that the head restraint is stored or attached securely to prevent it from being thrown around the vehicle in the event of sharp braking. Refit it if an adult uses the seating position. Children under the age of 10 must not travel in the "forwards-facing" position on the front passenger seat, unless the rear seats are already occupied by other children, cannot be used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag when a "rearwards-facing" child seat is installed on the front seat. Other wise, the child would risk beingseriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate.

Electric child lock

Remote control system to prevent opening of the rear doors using their interior controls and use of the rear electric windows.


Switching on Switching off


Any other status of the indicator lampindicates a fault with the electric childlock.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.


This system is independent and in nocircumstances does it take the place of
the central locking control. Check the status of the child lock eachtime you switch on the ignition.
Always remove the key from the ignition when leaving the vehicle, even for a short time.
In the event of a serious impact, the electric child lock is switched off automatically to permit the exit of therear passengers.

Deactivation
Only the passenger's front airbag can be deactivated:)with the ignition off, inser t the key in thefpassenger airbag deactivation switch, )turn it to the "OFF"position,)then, remove the key keeping the switch in
the new position.

g to version, this warning lamp comes on either in the instrument panel
or in the seat belt and passenger's front
airbag warning lamp display when the
ignition is on and until the airbag is reactivated.
To assure the safety of your child,the passenger's front airbag must be deactivated when you install a "rear facing" child seat on the front passenger seat. Otherwise, the child would risk beingseriously injured or killed if the airbag were deployed.
If even one of the two airbag warning lamps comes on continuously, donot install a child seat on the frontpassenger seat.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.



Reactivation

When you remove the child seat, with the ignition off, turn the switch to the f"ON"
position to reactivate the airbag and so assure
the safety of your front passenger in the event
of an impact.
With the ignition on, this warninglamp comes on in the seat belt andpassenger's front airbag warninglamp display for approximately one minute, if the passenger's front
airbag is activated.


Operating fault

If this warning lamp comes on in theinstrument panel, accompanied by an
audible warning and a message in theinstrument panel screen, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop to have
the system checked. The airbags may no longer
be deployed in the event of a serious impact.
If this warnin
g lamp flashes, contact
a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. The passenger's front
airbag may no longer be deployed in
the event of a serious impact.

227Practical information
Do not attempt to charge the high voltage battery.
The batteries contain harmful substances such as sulphuric acid and lead. They mustbe disposed of in accordance with regulations and must not, in any circumstances, bediscarded with household waste.
Take used remote control batteries and vehicle batteries to a special collectionpoint.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery if the vehicle is to be left unused for more than one month.


Protect your eyes and face before handling the battery. All operations on the battery must becarried out in a well ventilated area andaway from naked flames and sourcesof sparks, so as to avoid the risk of explosion or fire.
Do not try to charge a frozen battery;the battery must first be thawed out to avoid the risk of explosion. If the batteryhas been frozen, before charging have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop who will check that the internal components have not beendamaged and the casing is not cracked,which could cause a leak of toxic and corrosive acid. Do not reverse the polarity and use onlya 12 V charger. Do not disconnect the terminals whilethe engine is running. Do not charge the batteries withoutdisconnecting the terminals first.
Wash your hands afterwards.
Do not push the vehicle to star t the engine if the vehicle is fitted with the electronic gearbox.







Before disconnecting the battery

disconnecting the battery.


Following reconnection of the battery

Following reconnection of the battery, switch on
the ignition and wait 1 minute before star ting to
permit initialisation of the electronic systems.However, if problems remain following this operation, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Referring to the corresponding section, you
must yourself reinitialise (depending on
version):


- the remote control key,

- the electric blind(s), - ...

Fitting roof bars


Maximum authorised load evenly
distributed on the roof bars, for a loading height not exceeding 40 cm (with theexception of bicycle carriers): 70
kg.
If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt the
speed of the vehicle to the profile of the road to avoid damaging the roof barsand the fixings on the roof.
Be sure to refer to national legislation in order to comply with the regulations for transporting objects which are longer than the vehicle.
When
fitting transverse roof bars, take care to position them correctly: Use accessories recommended by CITROËN obser ving the manufacturer'srecommendations and fitting instructions so as to avoid the risk of damaging the body (deformation, scratches, ...).
