- If you have a crash and the airbag is activat­
ed, the doors automatically un lock .
A WARNING
-The power locking sw itch works w ith the
ignition off and automatically locks the
entire vehicle whe n it is actuated .
- On a vehicle locked from the outside the
power locking system switch is inopera­
t ive .
- locked doors make it more diffic ult for
emergency workers to get into the vehi­
cle, which puts lives at risk . Do not leave
anyone beh ind in the vehicle, esp ecially
children.

Once the door has been closed, it can no lon­
ger be opened from the outside. The door can
be opened from the inside by pulling the door
handle. If the child safety lock in a rear door is
activated, you must f irst pu ll the door handle
o n the inside . Then you ca n ope n the doo r
from t he outside.

open suddenly when the veh icle is mov­

- To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al­
ways keep the luggage compa rtment lid
closed while driving. Never transport ob­
jects larger than those which fit com ­
pletely into the luggage area, because
then the luggage compartment lid can­
not be fully closed.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­
pecially with the luggage compartment
lid left open. A child could crawl into the
car through the luggage compartment
and pull the lid shut, becom ing trapped
and unable to get out. To reduce the risk
of personal injury, never let children play
in o r around your vehicle. A lways keep
the luggage compartment lid as we ll as
the vehicle doors closed when not in use.
@ Tips

- Neve r try to in terfere with the luggage
compartment lid o r help it when it is be­
ing opened or closed automat ica lly.
(D Tips
- If there is a m echan ica l problem with au­
tomati c clos ing for the luggage compart­
ment lid o r there is an obstruc tion, it
opens again immediate ly. Check to see
why the luggage compartment lid could
not be closed before attempting to close
it again .
- The following applies to vehicles equip­
ped with the Convenience key * feature: if
the remote control key is left in the lug­
gage compartment, luggage compart­
ment w il l automatically unlock itself af­
ter you lock the vehicle . Th is prevents
you from unintentionally lock ing you r
key i n the l uggage compartment.

-When the vehicle is locked, the luggage
compartment lid can be unlocked sepa­
rately by pressing the button
C:::$ on the
master key. When the luggage compart­
ment lid is closed again, it locks auto­
matically.
- If the veh icle battery charge drops be­
low a certa in level, you can still open or
close the luggage compartment lid man­
ually, however, you w ill need to apply
more force to close it.

Requirement: You must have the vehicle key
on you and you must be standing behind the
luggage compartment lid. The ignition must
be sw itched off . Make sure you have firm foot­
ing.
.. Move your foot in a swinging motion back
and forth under the bumper

ognizes the movement, the luggage com­
partment lid will open.
The luggage compartment lid will only open if
you make the movement as described. This p reven ts the luggage compartment lid from
open ing due to s imilar movements s uch as
when yo u walk between the rear of the vehicle
and your garage door.
General information
I n some s ituations, the functionality of the
system is limited o r temporar ily unava ilable.
This is the case, for examp le, if:

-you park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the vehicle for a
long per iod of t ime.
- you clean your vehicle, for examp le with a
pressure washer or in a car wash.
- there is heavy rain.
- the bumper is ve ry dirty (for example, after
driving on sa lted roads) .
The function will be ava ilable aga in automat i­
ca lly for a sho rt time .

Make sure yo u have f irm foot ing before
triggering the function.

lock cylinder.

The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside.

Child safety lock
When the safety button®¢ fig. 32 is press­
ed, the LED in the button lights up. The fol­
lowing features are switched off:
- The power windows in the rear doors,
- The buttons for the power sun shades* in
the side windows,
- The buttons for the power sun shade * in the
rear window,
- Front passenger power seat adj ustment*
button.
_& WARNING
- When you leave your vehicle - even if on­
ly briefly- always take the ignition key
with you. This applies particularly when
children remain in the veh icle. Otherw ise
the ch ildren could start the engine or op­
erate electrical equ ipment (e.g. power
w indows). The powe r windows are func­
tional until the driver's door or passeng­
er's door has been opened.
- Be careful when closing the windows.
Check to see that no one is in the way, or
serious injury could result!
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied sinc e the
windows can no Longer be opened in an
emergency.

-The driver can Lower or raise the power
sun shades* in the side windows by using
switches © and @.
- After the ignition has been switched off,
the windows can still be opened or
closed for about 10 min utes. The power
windows are not switched off until the dr iver's door or passenger's door has
been ope ned.
What to do after a malfunct ion
The one-touch open and close function must
be reactivated if the battery hos been discon­
nected .
• Pull and hold the power window switch un­
til the w indow is fully closed.
• Release the sw itch and then pull it again for
at least one second.
Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the lug­
gage comportment from unauthorized
ac ­
cess .

sonnel for parking and keep the mechanical
key with you.
When the "valet pa rking" feature is activated:
- the unlocking button for the luggage com­
partment lid~ in the driver's doo r is inac­
t ive
- the button~ on the master key is inact ive
- the opening handle in the luggage compart-
ment lid is inactive.
The vehicle can be driven and locked and un­ locked with the master key . Access to the lug ­
gage compartment is blocked .
When the va let parking function is switched
on, the message

A wind deflector integrated into the sliding/
t il ting sunroof adapts automatically to the
speed and sunroof pos ition . This reduces wind
noise to a m inimum in all sunroof positions .
You can sti ll close or open the sunroof for up
to ten minutes after you have switched the ig­ nition
off . The sw itch is deact ivated once the
driver's or front passenger 's doo r is opened .
Solar prot ection
The solar protection opens automatica lly
when the sunroof opens.
Vehicles with a g lass pane l s u nroo f: the sun
shade can be opened and closed by hand
when the sunroof is closed.
Vehicles wi th a solar pa nel sunroof*: the
cl osed s unshade opens au tomatically when
t h e sunroof opens.
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the
sliding/tilt ing sunroof -otherwise serious
i njury could result ! Always take t he key
with you w hen leav ing the veh icle .

Always close your sliding/tilt ing sunroof
when leaving your veh icle. S udden rain can
cause damage to the interior equ ipment of
your vehicle, particularly the e lectronic
equipmen t.

Emergency closing of the sliding/tilting
sunroof
If the sun roof detects an object in its path
when it is closing, it will open again automati­
cally. In this case, you can close the roof with
the power emergency closing function.
.. Within five seconds after the sunroof opens
automatically, pull the switch until the roof
closes.

The rear segment of the roof can be operated
both from the cockpit and from the rear seat.

A WARNING

Be careful when closing the panoramic
sunroof- otherw ise serious injury could re­
sult! For this reason, always ta ke the igni­
tion key with you when leaving the vehicle .
