When driving the vehicle
Vehicles with a Multidrive
Do not depress the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time during
driving, as this may restrain driving torque.
Do not use the accelerator pedal or depress accelerator and brake pedals
together to hold the vehicle on a hill.
Vehicles with a manual transmission
Do not depress the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time during
driving, as this may restrain driving torque.
Do not shift gears unless the clutch pedal is fully depressed. After shifting,
do not release the clutch pedal abruptly. Doing so may damage the clutch,
transmission and gears.
Observe the following to prevent the clutch from being damaged.
• Do not rest your foot on the clutch pedal while driving.
Doing so may cause clutch trouble.
• Do not use any gears other than the 1st gear when starting off and
moving forward.
Doing so may damage the clutch.
• Do not use the clutch to hold the vehicle when stopping on an uphill
grade.
Doing so may damage the clutch.
Do not shift the shift lever to R when the vehicle is still moving. Doing so
may damage the clutch, transmission and gears.
When parking the vehicle (vehicles with a Multidrive)
Always put the shift lever in P.
Failure to do so may cause the vehicle to move or the vehicle may acceler-
ate suddenly if the accelerator pedal is accidentally depressed.
Avoiding damage to vehicle parts
Do not turn the steering wheel fully in either direction and hold it there for a
long time.
Doing so may damage the power steering motor.
When driving over bumps in the road, drive as slowly as possible to avoid
damaging the wheels, underside of the vehicle, etc.

approximately the same amount.
Tighten the nuts until the wash-
ers comes into loose contact with
the disc wheel sheet.
Lower the vehicle.
Firmly tighten each nut two or
three times in the order shown in
the illustration.
Tightening torque:
103 N·m (10.5 kgf·m, 76 ft·lbf)
Stow the jack and all tools.

CAUTION
Using the jack
Improper use of the jack may lead to death or serious injuries due to the
vehicle suddenly falling off the jack.
Do not use the jack for any purpose other than replacing tires or installing
and removing tire chains.
Only use the jack that comes with this vehicle for replacing a tire.
Do not use it on other vehicles, and do not use other jacks for replacing
tires on this vehicle.
Always check that the jack is securely set to the jack point.
Do not put any part of your body under the vehicle supported by a jack.
Do not start or run the engine while your vehicle is supported by the jack.
Do not raise the vehicle while someone is in it.
When raising the vehicle, do not put an object on or under the jack.
Do not raise the vehicle to a height greater than that required to replace
the tire.
Use a jack stand if it is necessary to get under the vehicle.
Take particular care when lowering the vehicle to ensure that no one working
on or near the vehicle will be injured.
Replacing a tire
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of death or serious
injury.
Have the wheel nuts tightened with a torque wrench to 103 N·m (10.5
kgf·m, 76 ft·lbf) as soon as possible after changing wheels.
Failure to follow these precautions could cause the nuts to loosen and the
wheel may fall off, which could lead to an accident causing death or seri-
ous injury.
Do not attach a heavily damaged wheel ornament, as it may fly off the
wheel while the vehicle is moving.
