Moving the front passenger’s seat
For easy access to the rear seat.
Lift up the seatback angle adjustment lever.
When the seatback is folded to the forward limit, the seat can slide
back and forth.
Slide the seat to the front-most position.
After rear passengers are in, lift up the seatback and return the seat
until it locks.
By raising the seatback, the seat locks at the upright position.

Rear seats
: If equipped
Folding down rear seatbacks
Stow the seat belt buckles.
Pull the lock release lever and
fold down the seatback until it
reaches the position where
the head restraints can be
removed.
Remove the head restraints.
Pull the head restraint up while
pushing the lock release but-
ton.

Fold down the seatbacks.
Stow the head restraints
between seatbacks and seat
cushion as shown.
Tumbling rear seat cushion
Pull the strap horizontally as
shown. The latch under the
seat cushion will release,
allowing the seat cushion to
be raised.
Disengage the snap and open
the strap.

CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
When operating the rear seat
Do not operate the seat while driving.
Stop the vehicle on level ground, set the parking brake and shift the shift
lever to P (Multidrive) or 1 (manual transmission).
Be careful not to get your hands or feet pinched in the seat.
Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded seatback or in the luggage compart-
ment while driving.
Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
After returning the rear seats to their original position
Make sure the seatbacks and bottom cushion are securely locked.
Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught under the seats.
Caution while driving
Do not drive with the seat cushion raised.
Do not place anything that may roll, or is larger than the available space
under the seat.
Anchor the strap to the head
restraint.
When returning the rear seat,
put the strap back to the origi-
nal place.

Head restraint precautions
Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
Use the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
After adjusting the head restraints, push down on them and make sure
they are locked in position.
Do not drive with the head restraints removed.
NOTICE
Before folding the seatbacks
The seat belts buckles must be stowed.
The head restraints must be removed.
When operating the rear seat
Make sure that the rear seat does not come into contact with the front seat.
Do not forcibly operate the rear seat. Otherwise, the seat cover may be dam-
aged or the seat may be broken.

Mirror angle can be adjusted when
Vehicles without smart entry & start system
The engine switch is in the ACC or ON position.
Vehicles with smart entry & start system
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON
mode.
When the mirrors are fogged up (vehicles with outside rear view mirror
defoggers)
Turn on the mirror defoggers to defog the mirrors. (P. 254)
CAUTION
When driving the vehicle
Observe the following precautions while driving.
Failing to do so may result in loss of control of the vehicle and cause an acci-
dent, resulting in death or serious injury.
Do not adjust the mirrors while driving.
Do not drive with the mirrors folded back.
Both the driver and passenger side mirrors must be extended and properly
adjusted before driving.
When a mirror is moving
To avoid personal injury and mirror malfunction, be careful not to get your
hand caught by the moving mirror.
When the mirror defoggers are operating (vehicles with outside rear
view mirror defoggers)
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces, as they can become very hot and
burn you.
