If a warning light tur ns on or a warning buzzer sounds
Stop the vehicle immediately. Continuing to drive the vehicle
may be dangerous.
The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake sys-
tem. Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact any
authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.

Brake system warning light
• Low brake fluid
• Malfunction in the brake system
This light also comes on when the parking brake is not
released. If the light turns off after the parking brake is
fully released the system is operating normally.
• Low negative pressure in the vacuum tank
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights
comes on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes
off, this does not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the system.
However, if this continues to occur, have the vehicle inspected by
any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.

Stop the vehicle immediately.
The following warning indicates the possibility of damage to the vehi-
cle that may lead to an accident. Immediately stop the vehicle in a

Have the vehicle inspected immediately.
Failure to investigate the cause of the following warnings may lead to
the system operating abnormally and possibly cause an accident.

Fuel system warning light
Indicates:
• The amount of accumulated water in the fuel filter has
reached the specified level if the light flashes.
• Malfunction in the fuel system if the light comes on.
DPF system warning light
Indicates:
• Vehicles without DPF system switch: The amount of
accumulated deposit in the DPF catalytic converter has
reached the specified level if the light comes on. Regen-
erate the filter. (P. 555)
• Vehicles without DPF system switch: Malfunction in the
DPF system if the light flashes.
• Vehicles with DPF system switch: Regenerate the filter
with the DPF system switch if the light turns on or
flashes. (P. 226)

*: Driver’s seat belt buzzer:
The driver’s seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver that his or her seat
belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds intermittently for 30 seconds after
the vehicle reaches a speed of 15 km/h (9 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still
unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.

Key reminder buzzer
The buzzer indicates that the key has not been removed with the engine off
and the driver’s door opened.
If the DPF system warning light comes on
The deposit collected in the filter needs to be regenerated.
To regenerate the filter, the following driving methods are recommended
*:
By driving continuously (for example, at around 60 km/h [37 mph] for
approximately 20 minutes).
By avoiding short trips, or by driving continuously (leaving the engine
running for long periods of time).
The DPF warning light will extinguish when regeneration is complete. How-
ever, if this driving cannot be carried out, or if the light does not extinguish
even after driving, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional imme-
diately.
