If the charge warning lamp ( ) on the instrument cluster comes on while driving, there is a
malfunction in the charge system including the battery. Therefore, carrying out the system check
is needed.
(4) Maintenance
Make sure that the battery cables are firmly connected.
If the terminals are corroded, clean them with a wire brush or sandpapers.
Always disconnect the battery cables with the ignition key removed. When disconnecting the
battery cables with the ignition key turned to ON or ACC position, several electric units can be
damaged due to sudden voltage change.
Check the battery for crack, damage or fluid leaks. Replace it if necessary.
Wipe out the battery fluid on the battery surface using a rubber glove and a clean cloth wetted
with soapy water. -

4. START FUNCTION
1) Immobilizer Function
The immobilizer system prevents the vehicle theft by allowing only the authorized key to start the
engine. The transponder inside the key communicates with the immobilizer installed in the key
box, and the system permits the engine to start after confirming the encrypted coding from the
engine ECU.
For the vehicle with the immobilizer, there can be a problem in starting the vehicle or the
system error:Immobilizer & rechargeable
unit sends encrypted code

When two or more immobilizer keys come into contact with (each) other(s).
When the key is close to any device sending or receiving electromagnetic fields or waves
other than Ssangyong products.
When the key is close to any electronic or electric devices such as lighting equipment,
security keys or security cards.
When the key is close to a magnetic or metal object or a battery. a.

2) Rechargeable Key Function (Charging)
If the communication between ECU (engine control unit), immobilizer & rechargeable unit and
transponder is establisehd successfuly (engine started), the rechargeable Li-ion battery in the
transmitter is charged.
The charging is made by creating the mutual induced electromotive force in the antenna coil and
by supplying the charging current to the battery in the key. This charging is not resulted from the
direct contact but the induced electromotive force of the coil in the transmitter according to the
change of magnetic field. For details, see the below:
Primary magnetic
induction coil Secondary magnetic
induction coil
The single coil has both immobilizer
function and recharge function.
For the immobilizer function, if the
transponder confirms the key as the
startable key by communicating with the
ECU, it induces a magnetic induction in the
primary coil by passing through the current
with a certain frequency to the immobilizer
coil. The induced electromotive force
created in this way, is stored in the
chargeable battery through the commutator
and the circuit. Primary magnetic
