When installing a CB, ham ra\fio or a car phone in \bour
vehicle, be sure to observe the following cautions,
otherwise the new equipment ma\b a\fversel\b affect the
Engine Control S\bstem an\f other electronic parts.
CAUTION:
.Keep the antenna as far away as possible
from the Electronic Control Module.
. Keep the antenna wire at least 20 cm (8 in)
away from the Engine Control harnesses. Do
not route the antenna wire next to any
harnesses.
. Adjust the antenna standing wave ratio as
recommended by the manufacturer.
. Connect the ground wire from the radio
chassis to the body.
. For details, consult a RENAULT dealer.
WARNING:
.Use a phone after stopping your vehicle in a
safe location. If you have to use a phone
while driving, exercise extreme caution at all
times so full attention may be given to
vehicle operation.
. If a conversation in a moving vehicle re-
quires you to take notes, pull off the road to
a safe location and stop your vehicle before
doing so.
CAUTION:
To avoid draining the vehicle battery, use a
phone after starting the engine.

Free Phone S\bstem. If \bou are an owner of a
Bluetooth
Šenable\f cellular phone, \bou can set up
the wireless connection between \bour cellular phone
an\f the in-vehicle phone mo\fule. With Bluetooth
Š
wireless technolog\b, \bou can make or receive a han\fs-
free telephone call with \bour cellular phone in the
vehicle.
Once \bour cellular phone is paire\f to the in-vehicle
phone mo\fule, no other phone connecting proce\fure
is require\f. Your phone is automaticall\b connecte\f with
the in-vehicle phone mo\fule when the ignition switch
is place\f in the “ON” position with the paire\f cellular
phone turne\f on an\f carrie\f in the vehicle.
You can register up to 5 \fifferent Bluetooth
Šcellular
phones to the in-vehicle phone mo\fule. However, \bou
can talk on onl\b one cellular phone at a time.
Before using the Bluetooth
ŠHan\fs-Free Phone S\bstem, refer to the following notes.

Set up the wireless connection between a cellular
phone an\f the in-vehicle phone mo\fule before
using the s\bstem.

— Your vehicle is outsi\fe of the telephone service
area.
— Your vehicle is in an area where it is \fifficult to receive ra\fio waves; such as in a tunnel, in an
un\fergroun\f parking garage, near a tall buil\f-
ing or in a mountainous area.
— Your cellular phone is locke\f to prevent it from being \fiale\f.
When the ra\fio wave con\fition is not i\feal or ambient
soun\f is too lou\f, it ma\b be \fifficult for the other part\b
to hear \bour voice \furing a call. Please close the
win\fows if possible.
Do not place the cellular phone in an area surroun\fe\f
b\b metal or far awa\b from the in-vehicle phone mo\fule
to prevent tone qualit\b \fegra\fation an\f wireless
connection \fisruption.
While a cellular phone is connecte\f through the
Bluetooth
Šwireless connection, the batter\b power of
the cellular phone ma\b \fischarge quicker than usual.
The Bluetooth
ŠHan\fs-Free Phone S\bstem cannot
charge cellular phones.

Microphone:
The microphone is located near the map light.
WARNING:
While driving, using the cellular phone is ex-
tremely dangerous because it significantly im-
pairs your concentration and diminishes your
reaction capabilities to sudden changes on the
road, and it may lead to a fatal accident. This
applies to all phone call situations such as when
receiving an incoming call, during a phone
conversation, when calling through the phone
book search, etc.
CAUTION:
Certain country or region jurisdictions prohibit
the use of the cellular phone in the car without
hands-free support.
This chapter provides in\formation about the RENAULT
hands-\free phone system using a Bluetooth
Šconnec-
tion.
Bluetooth
Šis a wireless radio communication stan-
dard. This system o\f\fers a hands-\free \feature \for your
cellular phone to enhance driving com\fort.
In order to use your cellular phone with the Bluetooth
Š
o\f the audio system, the cellular phone must \first be set
up. Once it has been set up, the hands-\free mode is
automatically activated on the registered cellular phone
(via Bluetooth
Š) when it comes into range.
A noti\fication message appears on the audio display
when the phone is connected, when an incoming call
is being received, as well as when a call is initiated.
When a call is active, the audio system and
microphone (located near the map light) enable
hands-\free communication.
I\f the audio system is in use at the time, the radio, CD,
or AUX source mode will be muted and will stay muted
until the active call has ended.
The Bluetooth
Šsystem may not be able to connect
with your cellular phone \for the \following reasons:
. The cellular phone is too \far away \from the vehicle.
. The Bluetooth
Šmode on the cellular phone has
not been activated.
. The cellular phone has not been paired with the
Bluetooth
Šsystem o\f the audio unit.
. The cellular phone does not support BluetoothŠ
technology (BT Core v1.2, \bands Free Pro\file v1.0
and Object Push Pro\file v1.0) . NOTE:
For details, see the cellular phone’s owner’s
manual.
\bands-\free phone setup
To set up the BluetoothŠsystem to pair with (connect
or register) a pre\ferred cellular phone, push the
button, select the BluetoothŠkey, and then push the
TUNE/MENU/ENTER dial. It is also possible to display
the set up menu directly by pushing the
button.

system. A maximum o\f 5 cellular phones can be
registered.

Šcellular phones are listed on the
display and can be selected \for connection.

A registered Bluetooth

I\f this setting is turned o\f\f, the connection between
the Bluetooth
Šdevices and the in-vehicle Blue-
toothŠmodule will be cancelled.
When success\fully paired, a noti\fication message will
be displayed. During the connection the \following
status icons will be displayed (top le\ft o\f display):
Signal strength (
) , Battery status () and
BluetoothŠ().
*: I\f the low battery message comes on, the BluetoothŠ
device must be recharged soon.
