Automatic anti-glare mirrors
GWARNING
If incident light from headlamps is prevented
from striking the sensor in the rear-view
mirror, for instance, by luggage piled too high
in the vehicle, the mirror's automatic anti-
glare function will not operate.
Incident light could then blind you. This may
distract you from the traffic conditions and,
as a result, you may cause an accident.
The rear-view mirror and the exterior mirror
on the driver's side automatically go into anti-
glare mode if the ignition is switched on and
incident light from headlamps strikes the
sensor in the rear-view mirror.
The mirrors do not go into anti-glare mode if
reverse gear is engaged.

The rear view camera does not relieve you of
the responsibility to take care. Take all
necessary care and pay particular attention to
the traffic conditions. The rear view camera
may not show objects that:
R are very near to the rear bumper
R are underneath the rear bumper
You are responsible for safety at all times and
must continue to pay attention to your
immediate surroundings when parking and
maneuvering. This includes the area behind,
in front of, and next to the vehicle. You could
otherwise put yourself and/or others in
danger.
GWARNING
The rear view camera does not work or does
not work properly if:
R it is raining heavily or if it is snowing or
foggy.
R it is night or if you are parking/
maneuvering your vehicle in a very dark
area.
R very bright white light is shining on the
camera.

Blind Spot Assist
Important safety notes
Blind Spot Assist uses a radar sensor system
to monitor the areas on both sides of your
vehicle. It assists you from a speed of
approximately 20 mph(30 km/h). A warning
display in the exterior mirrors draws your
attention to vehicles detected in the
monitored area. If you then switch on the
corresponding turn signal to change lane, you
will also receive an optical and audible
collision warning. For this purpose, Blind Spot
Assist uses sensors in the rear bumper.
GWARNING
Blind Spot Assist is only an aid designed to
assist driving. It may fail to detect some
vehicles and is no substitute for attentive
driving.
Blind Spot Assist cannot detect road and
traffic conditions. It may fail to detect narrow
vehicles, such as motorcycles or bicycles, or
may only detect them too late.
Monitoring may be affected by dirty sensors,
strong spray or poor visibility caused by snow,

Before programming the integrated remote
control to a garage door opener or gate
operator, make sure people and objects are
out of the way of the device to prevent
potential harm or damage. When
programming a garage door opener, the door
moves up or down. When programming a gate
operator, the gate opens or closes.
Do not use the integrated remote control with
any garage door opener that lacks safety stop
and reverse features as required by U.S.
federal safety standards (this includes any
garage door opener model manufactured
before April 1, 1982). A garage door that
cannot detect an object - signaling the door
to stop and reverse - does not meet current
U.S. federal safety standards.
When programming a garage door opener,
park vehicle outside the garage.

Notes on programming the remote
control
Canadian radio frequency laws require a
"break" (or interruption) of the transmission
signals after broadcasting for a few seconds.
Therefore, these signals may not last long
enough for the integrated remote control. The
signal is not recognized during programming.
Comparable with Canadian law, some U.S.
garage door openers are designed to "time-
out" in the same manner.
Proceed as follows:

Problems when programming
If you are experiencing problems
programming the integrated garage door
opener on the rear-view mirror, take note of
the following instructions:
R Check remote control frequency of garage
door drive remote control A. This is
usually located on the back of the remote
control.
The integrated garage door opener is
compatible with devices that have units
which operate in the frequency range of
280 to 390 MHz.
R Change the batteries in garage door remote
control A. This increases the likelihood
that garage door remote control A will
send a strong and precise signal to the
integrated garage door opener in the rear-
view mirror.
R When programming, hold remote control
A at varying distances and angles from the
button which you are programming. Try
various angles at a distance of between 2
to 12 inches (5 to 30 cm) or at the same
angle but at varying distances.
R if another remote control for the same
garage door drive is available, repeat the
same programming steps with this remote
control. Before performing these steps,
make sure that new batteries have been
installed in garage door drive remote
control A.
R note that some remote controls only
transmit for a limited amount of time (the
indicator lamp on the remote control goes
out). Press button B on remote control
A before transmission ends.
R align the antenna cable of the garage door
opener unit. This can improve signal
reception/transmission.
Opening/closing the garage door

The battery may drain if the vehicle is left
stationary for long periods. In this case,
Mercedes-Benz recommends attaching the
trickle charger to the charge maintenance
socket.
The charge maintenance socket is designed
solely for connecting a trickle charger. A
trickle charger can be obtained from an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center, for
example.
